The Tale of Custard the Dragon

Belinda lived in a little white house,

With a little black kitten and a little gray mouse,

And a little yellow dog and a little red wagon,

And a realio, trulio, little pet dragon.

Now the name of the little black kitten was Ink,

And the little gray mouse, she called hum Blink,

And the little yellow dog was sharp as Mustard,

But the dragon was a coward, and she called him Custard.

Custard the dragon had big sharp teeth,

And spikes on top of him and scales underneath,

Mouth like a fireplace, chimney for a nose,

And realio, trulio daggers on his toes.

Belinda was as brave as a barrel full of bears,

And Ink and Blink chased lions down the stairs,

Mustard was as brave as a tiger in a rage,

But Custard cried for a nice safe cage.

Belinda tickled him, she tickled him unmerciful,

Ink, Blink and Mustard, they rudely called him Percival,

They all sat laughing in the little red wagon

At the realio, trulio, cowardly dragon.

Belinda giggled till she shook the house,

and Blink said Weeck! which is giggling for a mouse,

Ink and Mustard rudely asked his age,

When Custard cried for a nice safe cage.

Suddenly, suddenly they heard a nasty sound,

And Mustard growled, and they all looked around.

Meowch! cried Ink, and Ooh! cried Belinda,

For there was a pirate, climbing in the winda.

Pistol in his left hand, pistol in his right,

And he held in his teeth a cutlass bright,

His beard was black, one leg was wood;

It was clear that the pirate meant no good.

Belinda paled, and she cried Help! Help!

But Mustard fled with a terrified yelp,

Ink trickled down to the bottom of the household,

And little mouse Blink strategically mouseholed.

But up jumped Custard snorting like an engine,

Clashed his tail like irons in a dungeon,

With a clatter and a clank and a jangling squirm,

He went at the pirate like a robin at a worm.

The pirate gaped at Belinda's dragon,

And gulped some grog from his pocket flagon,

He fired two bullets, but they didn't hit,

And Custard gobbled him, every bit.

Belinda embraced him, Mustard licked him,

No one mourned for his pirate victim.

Ink and Blink in glee did gyrate

Around the dragon that ate the pirate.

But presently up spoke little dog Mustard,

I'd been twice as brave if I hadn't been flustered.

And up spoke Ink and up spoke Blink,

We'd have been three times as brave, we think,

And Custard said, I quite agree

That everybody is braver than me.

Belinda still lives in her little white house,

Well Avon, considering that guy was like completely round and maybe 100 pounds overweight, I think anyone could have easily pushed him over. The problem is that he might have rolled away...

Whoaaaaa, this is crazy. I'm nearly speechless due to the stupidity of the act: in front of news cameras!? This guy was obviously a nutcase who didn't care about the concequences at all.

It's sad to say, but my freinds and I definantly agree, that this is almost an 'only in America' incident, but all societies have their 1 in a million events every now and then.

Not my work, a bloke called Ogden Nash wrote it, but you get the idea.

I honestly can't say how I would react if I was on the street and facing a man that had not only produced a gun, but already used it on another human being.

For me he is not stupid because he pulled this off in front of cameras, it makes no real difference, actually it is worse to hide your crime. He ws going to get caught for shooting a judge anyways.

What is stupid is him having a weapon, in a city, full of only people, no war, and no grizzly bears to attack him. Go weapon laws go. We nead some freakin chearleders for the great freedom of the person next to you packing heat in the states.

Never should have happened as pricks should not have weapons around, as we know they do.

It's kind of an Aussie reaction to what we see of everyday America on the news, it's always something like 'Wife runs over husband because he got the wrong fabric softener' or 'Petrol Station attendant survives seventh shooting robery' or 'Terminator becomes governor'.

The phrase is what we use to describe something that's typical news to come from and only ever come from America.

The fact is he would have shot at the lawyer whether the street was empty or full of cops.

He had just lost a case in court and thus the lawyer (of his opponent in the case) was to be paid with his money (which he seems to desperately need for medical help). That's when he went insane and started shooting at the man, who only survived because a) the shooter was not trained, b) to furious to aim properly and c) the victim was clever enough to try and bring the tree between himself and the shooter.

Basically this is a sad story, but there's instable persons like him in all parts of the world, in most countries he wouldn't have had a gun at his disposal (and in most others where he might have had one, he would never have made it to the headlines)

Because, knives are used daily in cities and elsewhere to live/survive. Cars are used to get around on the streets, in cities and elsewhere. A gun is a weapon for combat these days. Ie killing people. Unless you have a hunting rifle.

Heh, he thought he would have killed him with his first shot. he unloaded his gun trying to kill him. The lawyer did a great job ducking around the tree and so I don't thnk he got hit in his center at all, major organs or head.

The way that man was shooting was totally learned from TV. It was a social shooting, not a combat/hit type of operation. Culture + deadly weapon.
