Green beret addons and new anims

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking of starting on a green beret addon the unit modeling I probably could do but I would need help on textures and new anims.

Not exactly.

Well, my point you could then just slap on a green beret armpatch on the BAS ranger... And you got yourself a Green beret.

Their body armor and equipment is quite different. They are given A LOT more leverage in what they can take into the field. The Rangers and many conventional units stick very closely to dress regulations (82nd ABN in particular).

well anyone can slap an armpatch on someone elses addon and call it whatever he wants but its better to create your own Ive put up a picture as an idea of the look im going for at least as much as I can make use of in ofp.Get_Back.jpg and this message_for_Bin_Laden.JPG and coming from a military background I have ideas for anims if I ever get the hang of ofpanim.

If we were to get Green Berets, it would be neat to have the Ghosts, since the Ghosts are just a branch of the Green Berets.

well in proper army terms the 5th sfg which they mainly handle middle eastern operations and if ya want the look of the units with helmets and the same ole packs and junk it aint gonna happen. If you want ghost recon units like whats in that game for ofp then look at this addresshttp://eczerwonka.tripod.com/seb_ghost_demo.gif

I belive that is a "reserve" green beret which the US have chasing down Osama bin laden in afganistand, they are not full time soldiers meaning that when they get home they have civil jobs. Acualy US SF can be very vell equvipet whit body amor, kevlar helmets and full uniform.

Plus he is in discuse, the long mustach is good camoflage when he has to look afganich, andi don't think he is on a mission cause here he is not wearing a body amor, "all" americans wear body amor when out side the USA just look at pictures.

What ARE you on about STGN...

Just because they wore Armour in the film BHD, doesnt mean that every SF Soldier goes round trunked up in a full setup.

I think you'll find that there is no such thing as the "Green Beret Reserves", and that all the Green Berets are full time soldiers (don't quote me on that, but I'm pretty sure)

And he ISNT in disguise, his long beard and shabby apperance is for three reasons:

1) He probably doesnt get the oppertunity to shower and shave, let alone wash his clothes...

2) Even if he did get the oppertunity to wash, he wouldnt, because BO mixes in with the environment much better than Lynx showergel and brut aftershave. All SF soldiers dont wash on operations like that, because they dont want to have "alien" smells to the teritory, that would alert dogs, and local animals to their presence. Its all to do with Standard Operating Procedure, and Operational Security.

3) No matter how hard he tries (unless its in his geens) a caucasian (european/american) white male is never ever going to look like a middle-eastern male, as the skin tone, bone structure etc are completely different.

Also, because he isnt wearing bodyarmour is NOT an indication of whether he is on a mission or not, as with all things in the Special Forces, EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING is mission-specific. From the weapons, to his clothes and haircut. If you want to look like a civilian (at longish ranges, no one is going to be able to tell the facial features - as long as he looks the part, he will go mostly un--noticed) you dont wear half a ton of bodyarmour, a k-pot and a cleanly laundered uniform.

Please please get some insight into these things before making such sweeping statements STGN, you're a good lad, and I wouldnt want to see you put your foot in it (so to speak) wink_o.gif

ACtually DeadMeat, the 19th and 20th Special Forces Group are National Guard units ;), Part-Time soldiers. Pretty much all members of the 19th and 20th are former Active Duty SF soldiers. The beards are for blending in, back in 2002 the commander of American forces in Afghanistan ORDERED all SF soldiers to get rid of the beards since it was not professional looking.

Ta for the info AOC.

I know the SAS has a "reservist" regiment, (they form part of the British Territorial Army, basically like the National Guard), but I wasnt sure if the Green Berets had one too.

You learn something new everyday smile_o.gif

Thanks

Well first of all you must edmit that most US soldiers cary body amor when not inside there base or another safe place. atleased thats what I have seen. And i am not thinking about BHD than you.

I diden't know what to call them so I "reserve" to point that out. And when he is wearing a afganh dress he at a distance would look like one. remember that not all guys are can't get tan.

I saw a BBC(I am not completly sure) program about these US SF in afgahnistand. they looked mostly like him when on operations they had body amor on not helmets tho. they dressed up like afgahns when on stake outs. I also heared in the program the said that had civil jobs in USA.

They payed and trained som afgahns to help them stop opium, confiskates weapons and ammo and chach OBL helpers. They had a base where they intereigated the ones they had arrested. And the program stated that there where many like them around in afghanistand.

And as you know you get diseases if you don't wash you vital parts and ofcause you don't where aftershave how stupid do you think i am. I don't just state somthing if i don't know enything about it but offcause I can be rong but I have only tolde what I have heard and if that rong thats okay.

I also read an article in SOF about some Sf road warriors in Iraq and they where a full uniform SPEAR(I think thats what ist called) Body amor and the same helmets as you Delta/rangers and drove in custimiced hummers.

Please forgive my spelling.

No body armor? It looks like he has some sort of light vest on him. Is it a body armor or some sort of tactical vest?

And as far as I know green berets spend long time in the field and in towns training and communicating with the local populace. And what says that all US SF follow the regulations to their extremes? Of course if you are feeling hot you remove your body armor and you get cool.

And also I am pretty sure that fellow washes himself every month or so. Since getting a disease from being dirty only is quite hard. You would have to be undernurished to get a disease from being unclean, and I am pretty sure that cleanliness is a pretty low priority in the field. Especially for a green beret smile_o.gif

My grandpa was a Green Beret in Vietnam. He spent 6 tours there. Carried a Ak47 around and he showered around once every 1 and a half weeks.
