What kind of armor would you like?

So, sitting down thinking "OFP2 is gonna kick ass, but what kind of tanks will we see?"

We don't know anything about the game, or who is involved. Therefore I just came up with a bunch of armor that would be great if seen in OFP2.

- British Warrior APC

- British Challenger 2 MBT

- German (I think) Leopard 2 MBT

- Russian T-90 MBT

And some others that I can't remember...list yours down if ya want. I does not have to be armor though...

How about a vastly improved M113 (I see multiplayer ) that allows things like soldiers firing out of gunports? I believe that a common U.S. tactic in Vietnam was to simply drive the tank straight toward an enemy position, firing everything. If you had an M2 and multiple M-60s on the roof of the M113, plus 8 soldiers firing through gunports...Complete mayhem!

Forget it, BIS wont make any modern tanks. Only vietnam-era tanks will be in OFP2, this ain't BF1942 you know

I don't see what's wrong with having tanks like Centurion, Chieftain, M551 Sheridan, T-62, M48, Leopard 1, AMX-30 or they certainly sound interesting to me. Hopefully they make armored warfare more realistic at least.

Like many of us, I'm not happy with the choice of time period for OFP2, but at least it'd be great if the next engine allows for addon makers to make great modern AFV addons, with independent MGs, or soldiers fighting from an Infantry Fighting Vehicle, including firing out the ports. I realize what some of the limitations might be, but, if possible, I'd love to see that.

I can see where these features would apply to the Viet Nam campaign, too -- if you were a soldier riding along in a Huey, wouldn't you shoot out its open side door if you had to? Especially if the door gunner goes down?

i agree with mooncaine as long as the tanks could be modded reallistically e.g independent machine guns more dynamic armour i would be happy as happy gets.

PS i'd still like to see british tanks. especially in the europe map. I have this funny feeling BIS will have a fictional russian incursion into europe out of the coldwar time and the middle east will be a fight with the russians over the oilfields, as for vietnam well everyone's guessed. BUT they (BIS) might not base it on the vietkong conflict

BIS has said 3 theatres, including one 'nam. My 'guess' is that it will continue the cold war theme, maybe a desert map, and a europe map.

I believe that the multiple turrets issue is being looked at, the question is whether you can 'place' a new dynamic turret (for cargo pintles) or however they plan to implement it. What I would like to see would be a modular system so that you could have a stock m113 or m60 chassis, and seperate turret/equip/loadout mods. Would make things simpler, I dunno about performance though.

Well it looks like it will have multiple turrets but HOW MANY ? I mean if we want to make an AC130 with 5 guns , well it needs more than just 2 different turrets ...

actually i think with spectre gunships the only reason you want it is for the 20mm cannon and the howitzer right?

Youre right though there could be a problem i think the main thing for two turrets would be helos with two guns

Supposedly it will take place in Southeast Asia, Africa and Europe and will have varied types of environments.

First of all this is gone be around 1970´s, so they cant have any modern tanks.

Yes I agree with that But it would be very cool if in this pack were more light armor You know BTR-60-70-80-80A-90 Bmp-1-1P-2-2E-3,BTR-T, BMD-1-2-3, WARRIOR,BRADLEY,MARDER,BRDM-1-2,STEYR PANDUR, FUCHS-2,SKOT, PIRANHA-3-4,AMV PATRIA don't you think we could have more fun with those vehicles!!!

Spectre gunships, would be sweeeet.

I would like to see the British Ferret armored car with

a 20mm Cannon or a .50 bmg.

That would be a fun toy.

Kind of like 1/2 a BRDM with weapons.

I think there should be armored civilian cars, also.

Like a stretch limo for dignitaries.

And Civilian Armored Bank Transports.

I think also that if you are playing a Civilian and you pick

up weapons in the game and shoot the russians, that they should shoot back. That's a pet peve I have about the OFP engine.

Actually, there's a better way to do this. If BIS gave RHS an advance copy of OFP2 in 2004, then by 2006 we might have some new tanks !
