Tex -USMC- 0 Posted August 9, 2003 Stormin posted on some of the details of the upcoming demo: Str11ker wrote: - 1) How many minutes of flight can we squeeze out of - the available fuel assuming some standard combat - flying? Depends on how much throttle you give it. I'd say you can fly both aircraft for about ten to fifteen minutes, maybe longer if you throttle back. - 2) Can we customize the weapons loadout at all? No. - 3) What will the missions be for each Aircraft? Currently, and this could change slightly, for the A-10 you have several ground targets: A T-80 Tank, a BMP-2, a BRDM, all which are static, and then two trucks nearby that are moving down a road. There is also an Mi-8 Hip helicopter flying around the area. For the MiG-29 you have one MiG-23 that you can dogfight at close range, very close range to be exact. Both aircraft have heat seeking missiles and guns only. - 4) Is there an airbase nearby so we can start - practicing our landings? Yes, but you will only have fuel to do the mission and maybe shoot a couple approaches and landings. The A-10 mission lasts longer as it doesn't burn fuel as fast. - 5) Any particular weather effects in effect plus - time of day? (or can we choose this)? If is fixed at mid-day with clear conditions. The missions are fun but they are just a taste and you will feel great flying them but you will want more. Pretty much the intention of the demo in the first place! Cheers, Carl

Jinef 2 Posted August 9, 2003 Dark Knight, Is your RAF guy active serving or retired? It must be a very proffiecient clan if you're trained by the best! (Ok sorry for the open propaganda statement there, i must go into recruiting). I've always been more interested in rotary wing than fixed wing, but you got to go through A to get to B so i am interested. Btw. I loved FB, it was the first flight sim i brought since Janes FA18 which put me off Flight sims really, it was all too bare. But i will get this out of sheer curiosity to see how much flight sims have advanced since flying them 4 years ago. I am going to order SAR 4 Coastal Heroes from the states, despite the cheesy name it looks like the best helicopter simulation of the seaking yet. Does anyone know of any other good PC helicopter simulations coming out?

Tovarish 0 Posted August 10, 2003 @ Aug. 09 2003,17:23)]Does anyone know of any other good PC helicopter simulations coming out? Nothing. I have seen absolutely nothing promising out there. Stormin has confirmed that Eagle Dynamics has noticed this as well, and mentioned the posibility of a helicopter expansion for Lo-Mac (remember, a similar lack of A-10 sims was what caused Lo-Mac to include NATO aircraft as well). However...what would be Waaaay down the road. For one I'm sure we'll see multicrew fixed wing aircraft before then (The only gunship that could be realistically portrayed as a single seat would be the Ka-50, and I doubt they'd only add a Russian chopper at this point
