hellfish6 7 Posted September 25, 2003 I'd LOVE to see an A-3 Skywarrior. I realize it played only small parts in Vietnam (as a tanker/recon/EW bird) but I think it's the coolest aircraft of the era. And it's potential as a bomber was awesome (it was designed as a carrier-based nuclear bomber, later adopted for iron bombs) and would be a lot of fun, IMHO. http://www.a3skywarrior.com/pg12photos/web4.jpg And check out <a href="www.a3skywarrior.com" target="_blank">the Skywarrior Association</a> for a whole lotta info on it. How could you not love a plane that looks as goofy as this? Edit: Sxep - great link!!! I haven't followed Indo-Pakistani conflicts very much, but those paintings totally ingrigued me! And they were all great!

Wonder 0 Posted September 26, 2003 Pssst! - Footmunch, take a look at this!
Footmunch 0 Posted September 26, 2003 Wonder - Cheers. I was gonna make a start on the Draken cockpit this weekend. You're making the Falcon now, yep? Very good 3-views here (although I'm sure you're not short of ref info for the F-16 ): Link And another Very slow site, however. Napalm - Do you know how hard that drop command is? It kicks me in the head _every_ time we meet It's a low priority task for me at the moment, but a Napalm- equipped Skyraider _will_ appear in the future. I-Y: The Il-28 Beagle is climbing my list. Once the Canberra is out of the door, there's a _very_ good chance. Flying boat? A Catalina would be very useful. I'll take a look at how Trench did that Tante-Ju with the floats: it was a roadway trick wasn't it? A2A rockets? This is the range-fused stuff, or the proximity fused stuff? The latter could be done by taking a normal AA missile and reducing the maneuverability down to 0.01 (IIRC setting it to 0 makes things go screwy). Then, make the geo lod larger than the missile (thanks to Hudson/Pennywise for that) to simulate the proximity detonation. SXEP - Send me all the -23 and Draken skins you have, and I'll apply them. DC - Are you there? That Finn Drak skin would be nice... Have a nice weekend, peeps.
ran 0 Posted September 26, 2003 I-Y: The Il-28 Beagle is climbing my list. Once the Canberra isout of the door, there's a _very_ good chance. maybe you could add a French made Vautour or some American bomber in the same style as the Beagle and the Canberra .. i'm glad to know that you're planning to make a IL28
TopCover 0 Posted September 27, 2003 I am beginning to wonder wether "Footmunch" is a single person or hive-like collective entity which sole purpose is cranking out OFP airplanes -You made a ThunderBOLT -You made a ThunderCHIEF ...isnt it time for a F-84 ThunderJET? Its a pretty legendary Korean war straightwing groundpounder. Keep working that magic.
miles teg 1 Posted September 27, 2003 I'm EXTREMELY happy with what Footmunch is already doing. He already has a HUGE number of planes to work on folks so please don't pile on lists of planes. And as far as the Korean War stuff, that's fine and all, but we still don't have any Korean War era soldier addons as far as I'm aware of. The only North Korean soldiers I've seen are Remo's which are modern North Korean soldiers. The US soldiers should be easier as they could just use some of the WWII troops, but somebody would need permisson from a mod for that and to get them to send the unbinarized .p3d files so that the textures could be renamed and perhaps some of the models and textures modified a bit. Footmunch 0 Posted September 29, 2003 TopCover - It's just little old me. Those long Sunday afternoons are just made for O2. ThunderBOLT? BOLT? What BOLT? The F-80/F-84/F-100 line of planes would be nice of course, but would not happen for a _long_ time. MilesTeg - I know of one Korean MOD: Forgotten War link although there website is dead at the moment. Right now, the Vietnam planes I have (MiG-15, A-26, Skyraider) are also 'time-appropriate' for a Korean scenario. The F-86 is the only 'pure' Korean plane I'm planning, and is a natural counterpart to a MiG-15 (or -17 if I don't get round to re-moulding the Fresco). Both the Sabre and the -17/-15 saw _extensive_ action elsewhere. I hadn't realised, but the Sabre was sold to a lot of other countries. Ran - We've done this already, haven't we . I'm still on the lookout for a better 3-view of the 'Vulture', but with the Canberra and the Beagle, it would be nice to have a third plane (perhaps two versions on West and Res side). Is it me, or does the plane have a resemblance to the Me-262? SXEP - Send me anything/everything you have for the Flogger and Draken. I hope to have released the MiG's and have a final beta for the Drak by the end of the week.

Is it me, or does the plane have a resemblance to the Me-262? well , french engineers used a lot of the german's datas technics and experiments in their own projects , so , it's not impossible that it was inspired in its role and in its overall deisgn by some german aircraft
Imshi-Yallah 0 Posted September 29, 2003 FM,, the as far as I know Air to Air rockets used impact warheads and as such were treated essentially as very large fast cannon rounds, I'm unaware of proximity detonation technology being used on them, although I believe rocket based SA weapons using crude proximate detonations were developed and deployed at some stage in world war two. Could you fit proximity fuses to all future AAMs tho as it makes dogfighting so much more entertaining.
miles teg 1 Posted September 29, 2003 Footmunch, if you can keep the colored smoke on the wings of the Draken pweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze!!!!! It's a very fun feature. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
Footmunch 0 Posted September 30, 2003 Alright, If you're all good boys and girls, I may add some scripting that allows you to change the colour of each smoke trail in the init. Proximity fuses are currently under review at the Footmunch factory. More news as it happens...

tankieboy 0 Posted September 30, 2003 FM do u have a website? where can we get these planes?
Footmunch 0 Posted October 1, 2003 Yep, and with the new month it is now re-activated: Home page The planes listed are all those which are 'finalised'. All zip files include read me's. Beta's are _not_ included on the front page. Please use links posted earlier. TopCover - Well, the Skyraider is in that line of CAS planes: P-47 Thunderbolt (Fighter, but was used for CAS) A-1 Skyraider A-10 Thunderbolt II (the 'official' name for the 'Hog) IY- I've got two ways to do proximity fuses: one uses an expanded Geo LOD (after RAD), the other uses scripting under the fired EH. I'm not sure which is better, but when a decision is made, I'll consider adding it to the planes.

Paladin 1 Posted October 2, 2003 I must say footmunch your planes are awsome but there is one thing you need to fix. On most of your planes there are parts that are left untextured. For instance on the final version of the mig 23, the nose is not textured. If you did this because the nose is suppose to be white, I suggest to not do so in the future. It doesnt look right to have a totaly textured plane and then parts untextured Other than that, these planes are great.

Footmunch 0 Posted December 19, 2003 Yes, I'm still here, although I won't be posting anything new over Christmas, as I'm on a 56k connection until mid-Jan. Currently, my ofp dir contains: Beagle - Bombardier and Pilot cockpits in progress. Su-27 - Cockpit/texturing/weapons upgrades. Sea Fury - Just out of alpha. Gaskin - Car class launching missiles - with input from Sefe and sa8gecko - close, but not good enough yet. Sabre - Cockpit to be finalised. Plus some 'contract' work for a few well-known MOD's...
