Taiwanese( roc ) army new t91 rifle

Right, Taiwan is officially the Republic Of China. But most people associate China with a geographical area on the mainland of Asia and not with the Island of Taiwan. wink_o.gif

How come all Chinese rifles and armour is called "Type" ?

I assume T91 is Type91...

Type64 , Type95 etc...

But I must say the russian military acronyms are the ones making the most sense of them all smile_o.gif

The letters representing the manufacturer..

MI = MIL

AK = Avtomat Kalashnikova

AN = Antonov

SVD = Snaiperskaya Vintovka Dragunova

MIG = can't remember

MiG = Mikoyan-Gurevich

Su = Sukhoi

Tu = Tupolev

Yak = Yakolev

GAZ= Gorkovsky Avtomobilny Zavod

Back onto the topic of the Type 91 rifle...

I think it looks like a hybrid of a M4 and a SIG-550 (anyone knows what SIG stands for, if anything? Swiss Ingenous Guns?).

the type 91 is a modified M-16 a1 the upper reciever is refurbished and given new everything as well as being machined to have a rail on the top for optics'n'such

Atually, T means Type.

ROC made a lot of rifles, they are named T65, T65k2, T86 and T91.

They are developed all based on AR-18.
