bonko the sane 2 Posted August 25, 2003 I know this thread is mostly about GF5600 256Mb...but as I have a Chaintech GF5600 Ultra 128Mb running Dx9.0b and XPpro ; i'll use this thread to say that for the last couple of months i've been using the 44.03 drivers and i had excellent graphics performance, last week i updated to the new 45.23 drivers and i get crappy flickerings on any textures and shadows that are far away...obviously i rolled back to 44.03 and everything is fine again. Is anyone having this or similar problem?
Fear-51 0 Posted August 26, 2003 Im still gettin the green screen.....blah....I hope they come out with a fix soon....
Ragtag 0 Posted August 26, 2003 I have the exact same problem. Installed Gainward FX5600 780/ultra 256mb card and beta 1.92 and i get this green screen.
suma 8 Posted August 26, 2003 I repeat: We inspected the code resposible for -nomap handling and there is indeed a bug. We are working on a fix. Based on some testing done -nomap in this future patch version will be able to prevent "olive green" screen caused by addons (there is no guarantee it will work for all users though, as olive-green can have various reason). Over.
Ragtag 0 Posted August 26, 2003 So you mean that you will NOT be able to fix this problem for everyone with the olive screen?
suma 8 Posted August 26, 2003 So you mean that you will NOT be able to fix this problem for everyone with the olive screen? I mean I cannot claim we fixed it for all users until they test it - the fact we fixed one possible cause of olive green screen does not necesarily mean all olive green screens will be fixed, as there may be some olive green screens which are caused by other reasons. I this is called logic.
KaRRiLLioN 0 Posted August 26, 2003 I have about 257MB of addons in the ofp addons folder (including the official ones) plus whatever is in the Res addons folder. I have a Geforce FX 5900 Ultra on my PC. I WAS getting the green screen (or a cannot memory map error, depending upon how many addons I had) until I de-pbo'd the O.pbo and arranged it like Kegetys suggested in another post. After I got this patch I put O.pbo back in and it works fine. I haven't tried adding any more addons though, but I can say it works fine at this moment. ExtracTioN 0 Posted August 27, 2003 I have a AMD athlon 3200XP Pro Direct X 9.0b GF FX 5600 200GB 7200rpm 2048DDR OFP version 1.91 & 1.92 beta I have not the olive green screen problem but my computer says sometimes cannot create 3d device I tested the direct x everything pass the test I looked in system for my hardware no conflicts have tried almost everything but no luck I can play OFP only if I reboot my system if I surf or play other game and than when I want to play OFP it says cannot create 3d device hope they fix this problem too cause it happens only with OFP all other games works fine
3xtr3me 0 Posted August 27, 2003 Well, I removed the o.pbo file from the Res/Addons folder and BAM! I didnt get the olive screen, BUT when I map a map on nogova......it was compeletly WHITE, I guess this has something to do with o.pbo file.
Moondog52 0 Posted August 27, 2003 Hmm..I took out O.pbo from my OFP Res Addon folder and I lost the green screen. Of coarse my game ran like poop but it would run somewhat. Couldnt access an island or the BAS helicopters. 173mb addon jez thats a big file. I wonder what part of that file is causing the problem.
-SWAF-_The_X_Men 0 Posted August 28, 2003 That 0.pbo has giove me lots of trouble some tiumes for no reasson at all my old PC says "Cannot memeoy 0.pbo/dat something' and when that happen i needed to take out the 0.pbo out and start the game then quit and put the pbo back , some times i even had to rteinstall the full OFP. i havnt try to take it out to fix the green screen probleem i have been using the -nonesplash-mod and i have been adding one pbo every once and then till now i have 78.8 MG of addons (Including the originals ) and it still working later ill add a few more hope it keep working . dm 9 Posted August 28, 2003 1.92 Beta still give the green screen if more than 20 or so meg of addons are used (even using the -nomap and altering graphics settings). I'm holding out for you Suma my man, I hope that 1.92 final can fix this issue...

dm 9 Posted August 31, 2003 Yup, same as X Man, CWC, gold upgrade, Res. I did play around a bit, and if I remove all the BIS addons from my ofp/addons folder (keeping them in the Res/Addons folder) I can have about 50-60 megs of addons, up to about 6-7 megs for each pbo (any more, and lo and behold, green screen) What I think my be happening, is that XP is interacting with the GeForce card, and once you get over a certain filesize, it does not allocate memory correctly, and causes the green screen. I'll test some more with some mod folders, and see what more I can squeeze out of it (if i can)
dm 9 Posted August 31, 2003 Done some testing with mod folders, and no joy It seems that it is the size (in total) of addons being processed that causes the problem. I can push it up to 450 meg (including 0.pbo, noe.pbo and all the other BIS addons) Any more than that, and it goes green. May seem a little desperate, but hopefully this can help Suma nail the bug, and I can get back to glorious OFP here's hopeing
Powerslide 0 Posted September 1, 2003 Downloaded the new 45.23 Nvidia drivers, no luck, still green screenin. I can run about that same amount of addons as you, mainly smaller stuff then it goes bad.
Guest #### Posted September 1, 2003 Hopefully BIS is in contact with Nvidia about this. I'd hate to see this become a problem for OFP2 as well. I have a Asus GF fx5200 w/ 128mb vid ram and have no probs.
bonko the sane 2 Posted September 1, 2003 I have a Asus GF fx5200 w/ 128mb vid ram and have no probs. Yes,the problem is almost surely related to GForce cards with 256Mb memory + XP ( pro \ home edition? ) + OFP Thank God my budget was low and i bought the 128Mb version (no disrespect intended to those who have the 256Mb version)
BigUzi 0 Posted September 1, 2003 I run a 1.3 gig pentium 4 with 640 meg RDRam pc800, windows ME with a Gforce fx 5600 256mb. What I experience with OFP is the occasional green screen this seems to be linked to the fog emulation option in properties but what is really annoying is the now game freezes both ingame and at start up for no apparent reason. I traded up to the latest Nvidia drivers but I still get this freezing effect. Also game performance seems to have diminshed too since I installed the new card. Judge Rabbi 0 Posted September 6, 2003 Hmm, did not notice this topic before I posted. Add me to the "green screen" problem. This is just as worse as a "blue screen" error message...BUT WORSE!!! I re-installed my nVidia drivers and got the game to work...for ONE day only. Perhaps I should re-install the drivers every day...nah.
-SWAF-_The_X_Men 0 Posted September 7, 2003 i had a similar problem with the drivers i install new driver and made the mistake of not uninstall the old driver , then i had to reinstall windows , after that i made the propper instalation i Uninstall the old driver and then install v 45.23 of NVIDIA. no is woring good but again with a certain amount of addons i use the -nonsplas=mod i only have the original addons the Editor102 and i can only stand like 6 to 8 extra Addons . Like i post before it was weird to me after i bougth this PC i install all the addons from my old PC i just make a back up and copy to this PC ( arround 110 addons 478 MB ) , it works fine for about 15 day and then for no particular reason one day o got the Green screen ( That was B4 i install the new driver ) ., i have heard that this green screen problem may be fixed on the new NVIDIA Driver . or in the new Official 1.92 patch for OFP . i certanly hope so . Note : after i instal the NVIDIA Driver 45.23 i am not able to activate the W-Buffer on the Video options of my OFP , does any one else have the same problem
