Sole 0 Posted August 22, 2003 Just installed 1.92 BETA and loaded some add-ons... and I'm sad to report that OFP starts up just as green I know the 1.92 is still in BETA stage so I hope BIS can resolve it in the final version of 1.92 [edit] for anyone without the bug, this is what it looks like very explaining isn't it? suma 8 Posted August 22, 2003 Just installed 1.92 BETA and loaded some add-ons... and I'm sad to report that OFP starts up just as green 1) Make sure you really start 1.92 (you check version number in the main menu) 2) Try using -nomap command line option - this forces using the alternate file access technique for all file access. Otherwise it is used only for files for which "Cannot memory map" message would appear in previous version.
Sole 0 Posted August 22, 2003 yes Suma, I was aware of the new .exe file, and I also tried the -nomap string (reading readme files has its use ) but that didn't resolve the infamous green screen, like I said before in this thread, OFP without addons works like a charm, but with addons over about 25 mb is a no-go
bonko the sane 2 Posted August 22, 2003 I believe the problem lies in Win XP, as I was using my new computer with 98SE, and ME, and did not get the green screen problem ... (new comp is P4 3.06GHz, 512 DDR RAM, GeForce FX5600 256mb Gfx, now operating Win XP Pro)Now I have upgraded to XP Pro, I have exactly the same addons folder, and I now get the green screen error... I think it is a combination of Windows XP, the GeForce FX5600 (256) Gfx Card, and OFP's coding... I have WinXP Pro SP1 + GeForce FX5600 (128mb) Gfx Card and the only crashes I've had make me think its related to my Creative Soundblaster 5.1 (game freezes and i get a modem like sound)...I upgraded from GFTi200 1 month ago and I still have my 12 Mod Folders working fine (with much better graphics)...so I suppose the problems u guys are having are related to the GF5600 (256mb) + XP ? Moondog52 0 Posted August 22, 2003 Nope I have the same setup XP Pro SP1 128mb FX5600 w/latest drivers SB5.1 OFP 1.91 and now 1.92 Still getting the same green screen

r71 0 Posted August 23, 2003 1.92 beta does not fix the green screen. My friend has the same problem, but it runs fine on my comp. I have around 300mb of user addons. I had him use the -nosplash and make sure his land texture was not to high, but still no help. ------------- 2.4P4 1024pc800 ram GF4ti4600 Sound Blaster Aduigy

Scanger 0 Posted August 23, 2003 The way I did it is: Install Operation Flashpoint(Original) Install Resistance Install patch 1.85 Install patch 1.90 Install patch 1.91 Install patch 1.92 beta Green Screen happening since I changed to fx5600, but 2MB file heap has always worked, even to stop O.pbo error, so it might work for some people, fingers crossed. I hope they fix this problem in the final 1.92 Heres the contents of my Flashpoint.cfg file and it works for me Look at my NEXT post before resorting to using this. ------------- Product="Resistance"; Language="English"; HW_Type="Direct3D HW T&L"; Adapter=0; 3D_Performance="6000"; CPU_Benchmark=6000; Resolution_W="1152"; Resolution_H="864"; Resolution_Bpp="32"; LOD=7.500000; Limit_LOD=0.019000; Shadows_LOD=0.050000; MaxObjects=256; Cockpit_Textures=1024; Landscape_Textures=1024; Object_Textures=1024; Animated_Textures=64; Textures_Drop_Down=4; Texture_Heap="16"; File_Heap="2"; Total_Memory="512"; MaxLights=32; Light_Explo=1; Light_Missile=1; Light_Static=1; Frame_Rate_Pref=500; Quality_Pref=500; refresh=70;
Scanger 0 Posted August 23, 2003 I also just realised, i hate the splash screens at the start of the game so I opened up the PBO file and removed them...when I use the original scripts.pbo, i get a green screen even with the 2mb file heap...but with my edited PBO and a 2MB file heap, everything works...heres a link to my file scripts.pbo put this in your "OperationFlashpoint\DTA" folder Also set your file heap to 2MB

bonko the sane 2 Posted August 23, 2003 @ Aug. 22 2003,21:51)]maybe is the way Bonko admin his addons...I know he have something special there Eh? Not really, basically i use Kegetys Quickstarter (im happy to say it works with 1.92Beta as well although u need to look for the 1.92BETA.exe manually 'cos the quickstarter wont recognize it as an executable) from where i manage my 12 Mod folders, for FDF i use their fdf.exe shortcut with -nosplash;HiSky and my Winter Mod... My OFP\AddOns and Res\AddOns are original all my extra addons are in Mod folders (except editorupgrade102.pbo, OFPEC_blood.pbo, bas_repair.pbo, JAM_Magazines.pbo and ALL the island anims which are in OFP\AddOns 'cos they seem to act funny outside of regular addons) all in all i have 900Mb of addons running

For example, like this: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> C:\Programs\OperationFlashpoint\FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.EXE -nosplash Saves one the tampering with the core game files. Scanger 0 Posted August 23, 2003 I know about the "-nosplash" switch but with the original scripts.pbo this will also fail, the only way I can work it is with the one I have provided and a 2MB file heap.
suma 8 Posted August 24, 2003 We inspected the code resposible for -nomap handling and there is indeed a bug. We are working on a fix. Based on some testing done -nomap in this future patch version will be able to prevent "olive green" screen caused by addons (there is no guarantee it will work for all users though, as olive-green can have various reason). Moondog52 0 Posted August 24, 2003 Thank you Suma Even if it doesnt work, BIS's effort to resolve this problem will mean alot and help to narrow down this problem.
Powerslide 0 Posted August 25, 2003 C:\Programs\OperationFlashpoint\FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.EXE -nomap Everytime I try to add the nomap to a shortcut it tells me it's not valid?!?
killswitch 19 Posted August 25, 2003 C:\Programs\OperationFlashpoint\FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.EXE -nomapEverytime I try to add the nomap to a shortcut it tells me it's not valid?!? You're adding -nomap to the wrong shortcut. Its the 1.92 beta that you should add it to. 1.91 doesn't recognize -nomap. Make a shortcut to the 1.92 beta .exe and edit it as follows: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> C:\Programs\OperationFlashpoint\FLASHPOINT192BETA.EXE -nosplash -nomap
Powerslide 0 Posted August 25, 2003 Same deal even with the 1.92 beta. Still getting green screen and target parameters wont work.
killswitch 19 Posted August 25, 2003 Remove any quotation marks in the "Target" field of the shortcut. I see that it ends in ...-nosplash -nomap" <- note that last quotation mark? Also, if there is one " in the beginning, remove that one too
Powerslide 0 Posted August 25, 2003 I tried that, I get 'C:\Program' specified in the target box is not valid
