Here I go again, defending technology  biggrin_o.gif

Technophobes  tounge_o.gif

Ahum, anyway...

Quote[/b] ]Again, how about EMPs? A soldier full of electronics is a nice target for this kind of weapons...

I am sure the dudes who are working on this have thought about this problem too, and perhaps are figuring a way out to solve it. After all, the ones who are working on these suits are not stupid. (right?)

@mars topic:

If anybody needs to discuss this further go pm me or begin a new thread.

@Harnu:

There is something like cryo-genics (that's what it's called in English right?), maybe you could do that and wake up like 200/300 years later?

Then you could end up in a suit like that  wink_o.gif  tounge_o.gif

Well, I'm not gonna pay anyone 40k to kill me and stick my in liquid nitrogen anytime soon. Unless I can pay them when I wake up biggrin_o.gif

It's very tricky to protect nowadays submicro-electronics --that's one of the reasons why the booster rockets of the shuttle are controlled by 8086/8088 (robustness, reliability).

An electric field can be deflected by a simple Faraday cage. The only material I know that can weaken magnetic fields is magnesium. But I don't know if that's effective. And I don't think the soldiers want to carry lots of pounds of EMP-deflecting cases...

I hope that, too. But on the other hand people tend to get euphoric without realising the disadvantages or practical issues. Hey, you can have the best electronic warfare units, but they are useless if your enemy uses couriers... ;-)

And think of the necessary software... there's no perfect software, there will be bugs, exploits...

How long will it take until the first warrior is hacked (they are planning to link all units, right?)? Friendly fire is a problem today, think of friendly fire because of hacked target informations.

exactly.. I'd just hate seeing this on your visor in the middle of the battle.

especially when you get hacked.. and you see this.

Advanced Power Armor MkII You're almost invincible in it. Even Wanamingos can't kill you! The only problem is if you encounter an Enclave patrol you don't have much chances, but it's easy to avoid those patrols if you're a good outdoorsman, and a motion sensor in your Pip Boy wouldn't hurt too much either. (You do have one don't you?)

I've always dreamed about inventing some super armour and also finding an easy and cheap way to mass produce it so I can sell it to the finnish military, and then WE would have the best army. Naturally it would require a plasma rifle or a hand held minigun. It would just look so stupid with an assault rifle.

Also making the perfect AI is an other thing I wanna make, and then implement it to a Terminator style robot. (it would be a nice robot of course not evil, the T-800 just looks so cool (and the newest model looks even better with the skin on))

Maybe I should go to sleep now, it is kinda late.. 1 AM..

thats from fallout 2 right? O'man i loved that game.I played it about 10 times but never completed it.(I all ways got bored and stoped coz i knew what was gonna happen next)

Cant wait till they get there finger out there asses and start making a Fall Out 3.Insted of all this Fall Out Tatics stuff.

The amour in that game kicks ass to.My fav weapon was that Guess Rifle(you pick up around califonia some where) it fucking blow huge holes in the side of your enemys,witch i all ways found fun.

I'm betting that by the time that armor is fielded at all, there will already be sufficent and effective weapons that will be able to puncture the armor. I mean, just because the US is making high tech armor, it dosn't mean no one will make something to get around it.

I dont think there will ever be a time when armour technology is superiour to weapons technology. Its always more fun overkilling the enemy than to protect yourself. rock.gif

If I would develop some kind of new armour, I would develop a new weapon against it as well. Just to lock it away until the enemy has analyzed and adopted the new armour...
