pong2cs 0 Posted June 28, 2003 If this is the JU-52 from the AiA mod, why does it need a seperate thread?
bonko the sane 2 Posted June 28, 2003 WoW!!! Flies like a charm and the take off/landing in the water is really nice, outside textures are cool,my only criticism would be that the artificial horizon thingy in the cockpit could be improved, but anyway, txs for this cool plane. Postduifje 0 Posted June 28, 2003 Looks really good, great work! Especially dig that it's able to land in water -Post
miles teg 1 Posted June 28, 2003 Trenchfeet, your Junkers are by far I think the best WWII airplane addons that I've yet to see for OFP. Congratulations on these fantastic masterpieces! The float plane really pushes the envelope of what can be accomplished in OFP and I hope it inspires other addon makers to make some really cool WWII float planes like the PBY Catalina flying boat The only thing I can say needs fixing on your Junkers is that on the demo mission the jump script needs to be fixed so that after they all jump, they are un-assigned from the Junker. That way the leader doesn't continuously order the troops to get back in. You don't noticed this on the demo mission because the player is not grouped with the other soldiers. But when converting your demo mission into a working WWII airborne assault mission, I ran into this problem and it is one I've dealt with before. Anyhoo... just thought I'd bring that up. Otherwise I love how the script causes the jump light to blink and then turn green. That's fabulous! Keep up the great work!!!! lee_h._oswald 0 Posted June 28, 2003 Best WWII aircraft addon EVER! Fantastic work! Fly´s perfect! Only the "no shadows" thing is bad. You made a great step in WWII Addon Quality! Thank you so much. MfG Lee

miles teg 1 Posted June 28, 2003 I like that one in particular because when I lived in Pensacola, Florida they had one at a naval museum there where you could walk around inside of it. It was soo cool because it gave you an idea of what it was like being in one. They even had the machine guns in them. I believe they were mainly used for maritime patrol and to attack U-boats. If I remember correctly they saw alot of combat. But back on topic to these beautiful Junkers, I'm going to start doing some historical research to see what I can find on these planes so I can make some good missions with them based on historical events. I'm wondering also if the Junker with the floatation landing assembly was ever armed for anti-shipping missions. Anyhoo... these planes are VERY inspiring. I just hope so much that someone makes a C-47 aircraft that is as good. There is an old C47 addon out there but it can't turn barely at all and the textures are very rough inside. It's also WAY too big. Hopefully we'll see the equivalent of this junker made in the form of a C47. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

killagee 0 Posted June 28, 2003 Sweet! Float planes in OFP! Could we soon be seeing something like this soon? I hope BIS are taking all this in, we need to see more of this innovation in OFP2!
RAF_Maverick 0 Posted June 28, 2003 Very nice JU52, I love the floats!!!!! On the point of floating, could helicopters without floats float (in game I mean) because I know that the Sea King can float (for a while anyway) without floats, unless the area where the landing gear retracts into are floats. Â If I am right, it would be excellent to have a floatable Sea King, d'ya not think? Also, whenever i activate the Jump lights, with me as pilot, I get ejected aswell , is this ment to happen? If it is, I think I know why the Nazis lost the war...
miles teg 1 Posted June 28, 2003 The reason why you get ejected in the bail out script is because the player is listed as one of the units to eject. You can easily modify the script or create a new unit for the player so that you don't get ejected. The jump script is in the mission folder. Trenchfeet 0 Posted June 29, 2003 Hi, yeh that script took < 1 min to make it was a quick example of how the lights work. But instead of just seeing them flash i thought it would be cool to make it a sort of practice jump on the ground before you fly. In mst cases the mission maker will make their own script so it works with their mission, and mine don't interfer. if you get the sea king and insert the code in to it this exec"\ju52fp\float.sqs" the sea king will float as will most addons i think you can even do the Jesus thing with a player (walk on water) I like that Russian plane Bratz has showd me his plans for the pby but he is busy so we'll c if he gets time How do we add shadows BTW? Miles Teg The ju52 was used in mine laying/sweaping, bombing during the spanish civil war, i didn't include bombs as this is a later version. it was used in some similar roles as the CAT did you know on occasions the CAT under load would take 13miles to takeoff?
miles teg 1 Posted June 29, 2003 What's the CAT version of the Ju52? Wow! 13miles is a lot of runway!!! I think I'll just use this Ju52 for airborne missions and the amphibious version in missions where the German general uses it to get away from advancing allied troops. That's good news about the PBY plane. That was a very important if not critical airplane during WWII. But back to your Ju52, I think it's fine the way it is and I'm really glad that you added the script in the demo showing how to time the lights with the jump. I would have never figured that out on my own. I also like the attention to detail on the plane like the folding boarding ladder and the ammo-crates and weapons in the back. I like sitting back there. Right now I'm using AIA/WWIIVets German pack (that was released with your Ju52) as paratroopers fighting against the Invasion1944 82nd and 101st airborne troops. I don't usually play as a German soldier in missions, but it's just so much fun parachuting out of your plane! Keep up the awesome work!!! lee_h._oswald 0 Posted June 29, 2003 I´m going to make a WWII CTI Map. The JU52 is perfect for that. You can start and land nearly everywhere with it. Not only on Airfields. Must say it again: Fantastic work!!! MfG Lee
bonko the sane 2 Posted June 29, 2003 Yes,amazing work....but plz kill the installers!
the editing man 0 Posted June 29, 2003 Yes,amazing work....but plz kill the installers! Â Great addon, but i think you could use better .zip files then .exe files because most people dont like installers But i do
Trenchfeet 0 Posted June 30, 2003 Yeh i'm not a fan of installers but they decided it would be best for that release. Miles Teg CAT was short for Catalina And it was 13 miles of sea not runway
Koolkid101 0 Posted June 30, 2003 Lee Oswald please make your CTI public
