-TU--33ker 0 Posted August 1, 2003 you think so? I like it.  Eddie is like the 7th band member. It wouldn't be Maiden without Eddie on the cover. and what do you like more? Eddie on cover: or some ugly 3D render picture  : Honstly, that's the worst Maiden cover I've ever seen! edit: man we're getting offtopic now. please PM me if you have further questions about Iron Maiden. USMC Sniper 0 Posted August 2, 2003 I definately think AC/DC (the greatest band on earth :P) should be in the 70's campaigns (I can just imagine a truck getting hit with an RPG7 and TNT blasting in my speakers). Using modern rock in the Nam campaign would be plain stupid IMO, it would be extremely unauthentic and would ruin the atmosphere.
Bluesman 0 Posted August 2, 2003 AC/DC would be equally expensive. I personally hope they don't sacrifice gaming features for licensing costs but that's me. BM
-TU--33ker 0 Posted August 2, 2003 Well, it still depends on the time. There was no AC/DC before 1974. And I'd kill myself if they take songs with Brian Johnson! Edit: Should have said it this way: There was no AC/DC outside Australia before 1974.
Bluesman 0 Posted August 3, 2003 Might as well go with Deep Purple or DIO then. (in theory that is) I could ask them if I meet them backstage again . BM
Cannon Fodder 0 Posted August 3, 2003 In reality it doesn't really matter if one piece of music is favoured over another - mission and add-on makers can quite easily include their own pieces of music in missions even now with OFP1. Seeing that OFP2 is merely an advanced version of OFP1 by all accounts, this particular function (as they will not be reversing functionality as this is game is based on a more advanced build of the current engine) will be intact. So, if you favour Deep Purple, a little bit of Jimi - Christ, you could even have some Peter Gabriel-era Genesis in there if you wanted. As I am going to re-thrust myself back into the world of mission editing when OFP2 comes out, I will be making 'Nam missions too. I already have some Van Der Graaf Generator tracks lined up as mood music in cutscenes...
-TU--33ker 0 Posted August 3, 2003 Looking at my last posts, I realized that we sometimes put too much pressure on BIS. It doesn't matter whether they use original tracks from the 70ies or their own music. The main thing is that the soundtrack has to fit to the atmosphere of the game! Bluesman 0 Posted August 3, 2003 Agree. I've made a few ogg:s for personal use . I'm a big fan of metal and hard rock (working on a dvd production currently for a large Swedish metal group). That wasn't my issue. The issue was that licensing commersial music (especially super groups like these mentioned) is SUPER expensive. Not only do they have to pay a fixed fee, they have to pay for each and every copy of OFP2 sold, making it a heavy burden for Codemasters/BIS. I'll take Seventh or some other minor group and add my own stuff to my missions and get more gamevalue per dollar/euro. EA licenses music for their FIFA, NBA games etc and the budget for those games are staggering . BM

And what fits that era's atmoshpere better than the rock of that time?  Music that sounds like from the 70ies but composed in 2004! I'm afraid that those expensive music licenses (If BIS decides to have a soundtrack like Vietcong) could force BIS to earn more money by making the game too easy, too unrealistic, and too arcadish like BF:42. I trust in BIS and think that Ondřej Matějka has the ability to create a fine soundtrack for OFP2.
Bluesman 0 Posted August 4, 2003 Wonder if covers counts btw? Could be a loophole . Strange that noone mentioned Motörhead. Listening to Ace of Spades while flying those choppers is probably very adrenaline boosting . Maybe Seventh could do an implementation of Ace of Spades or Run To the Hills . Here's an idea. Maybe BIS could stage a competition among small metal groups. Compose a piece and get into OFP, great chance for metal groups to increase their audience and a chance for us to discover new talent. There are many good metal bands here in Sweden for instance and elsewhere of course. BM

Captain Winters 0 Posted August 13, 2003 I'm sorry but did I just read about Hans Zimmer is the greatest? ::COUGH::COUGH:: JOHN WILLIAMS ::COUGH::COUGH:: THEN hans zimmer Tanks!
Airwolf 50 Posted August 19, 2003 Williams, bah, Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, Hanz Zimmer, Danny Elfman, then williams! Also... for rock music i think that most of the songs that where used in the forest gump vietnam scenes would work good. Such as credence clearwater, fortunate sun, thats pure nam. And rolling stones music such as satisfaction and you cant forget Green Onions by booker t and the MG's.
Montanaro 0 Posted August 20, 2003 I would like to be in a Huey as a gunner and be shooting in the treelines as we are taking off and a phantom flies by and dumps a load of napalm on the VC while the part "I'm on the highway to Hell!" comes on
Silent-Shadow 0 Posted August 20, 2003 I loved Seventh's music in OFP, so I personally hope that they do write some of the music for OFP2. I do actually have contact with David from Seventh, so I will have to ask him and let you guys know...........
-TU--33ker 0 Posted August 20, 2003 I welcome this. Seventh did a pretty good job on the last OFP. It's going to be interresting to hear what they'll do with the seventies background.
andersgrim 0 Posted August 21, 2003 Seventh's music from OFP CWC/Res was great. A bit weird music just to listen to, but as background material of a cutscene or mission the tracks were (and still is) great!
Bordoy 0 Posted August 28, 2003 David if you or anyone else from seventh is reading this, i love your music.
