Jinef 2 Posted February 25, 2003 Ahh! I remember the bible! Late at night there would be the faint sound of choking as my roommates tried to kill me after i had read it to them solidly for 3 hours! Indeed I think the bible is like all pieces of writing, (higher education level english starting to speak ) it's a great story but lot's of points are exaggerated and twisted in time and by the time it gets to us it's bunch of bollocks! As you can tell religion is not my strongpoint, greek mythology on the same hand is also not my strong point On a topic of digression here, in Black Hawk Down the most realistic moment portrayed imo is the two heli pilots nattering about whether limo is a word or not. You should hear some of our radio chatter on the Illiad and Odyssey! Here's a rough example. Loadie - WTF are you guys on about! CoPilot (me) - We are exploring the depths of greek mythology and other assorted boring things. Pilot - But come on fen, in the Scyla and the Charbydis.... Copilot - right that's it i'm getting dave to talk to you about star trek when we get back! Anyway i think the whole Illiad and Odyssey thing began when we were reading Stupid white men and there was this AMerican guy who complained that modern kids didn't know what it was - well duh! But now i'm ranting and i've got work to do so bye.
FallenPaladin 0 Posted February 25, 2003 Bah... the bible is almost modern lyric, compared to the Gilgamesch epics which were written 2100-2000 bc That`s something I`d really like to read

Harnu 0 Posted February 25, 2003 I dropped a Thermo-Nuclear Bomb on the church NW of Davle. Ya know, from the F15 addons that destorys everything withing about 6000m of clear space. Well, it hit dead center and the church didn't budge.

Jinef 2 Posted February 26, 2003 Also the LST in Flashpoint is called Poseidon right? Well the cyclops in the Odyssey was the son of Poseidon who is the god of the sea. Also i don't get the brits when they pronounce Nike like Nic, it should be Nic e as that is how Nike, the greek god of victory, is pronounced.
