Deltas and rangers released!

Recommended Posts

I have a pair of DCUs sitting on a hangar in my closet. The BAS version of them looks dead-on accurate. They've even got the coloring of the suede desert boots right (which darken as sweat and other foul things like blood and oil collect on them).

I would have thought you would put them on before playing OFP. tounge.gif

Isn't the Masterkey firing a bit too fast? You can fire it as fast as you can click left mouse button thus making it full auto shotgun. I have no idea of the real weapon though, but I assume it can't be fired so fast.

About the M249 sound, I think the best sound I've heard is from Gimbal's ancient FN Minimi addon. I replaced BAS' sound with that and now it sounds much better. I'm not sure if this addon can be downloaded anymore, but I still have it. If someone wants the sound I can send it smile.gif. Also the M240 sounds rather wierd, I replaced its sound with DoD .30cal sound, no idea if its accurate but sounds very beefy wink.gif.

Could someone describe the exact differences between many of these units.

I mean, I have no idea what's an MK, RTO, GL, LDS (Laser Designator?).

Is a teamleader the same as an officer?

What are all these operators? Operator2? OperatorGL?

What is a standard soldier versus any of the others?

Any pilots?

What comes closest in concept to OFP's saboteur units?

What about the skill settings? If you place a group of rangers or delta's, the skill is set to 1 or to the lowest level. Aren't these guys supposed to be skilled?

MK = Masterkey (?)

RTO = Radio Operator

LDS = Laser Designator

Wow, i placed a group of Delta's and a group of NVA from the nam pack, and it was a complete slaughter, quite ugly. Even used some marines from the NP2, and it was still a slaughter. I think they are too well trained. wink.gif

Standard Soldier is a Normal US soldier where you can attach unit shoulder patch in woodland and dessert uniform wit the codes provided in the readme

S behind name is unit with silenced weapon

Operator i think is instead of writing soldier like this

Delta Soldier vs Delta Operator

Hmm shouldnt it be a slaughter since the NVA from the nam pack have the dispersion mags by default, meaning that they dont hit that well

OK, we have:

MK - Masterkey

RTO - Radio Transmission (?) Operator

GL - Grenade Launcher

LD - Laser Designator

SOPMOD = Special Operations Peculiar Modification.

sopmod info

The ACOG is a 4x32 scope.

The Reflex is the no-magnification optic sights.

SD = Supressed Version

M14 Aimpoint is a M14 with the aimpoint optic sights (no magnifiation)

the AN/PSC-5D Satcom is a Satelite Com unit. (radio) which functions just like the Nam Pack one (ie it's a weapon so you can test if a unit has it)

Team Leader is a term used to designate the leader of a group whether it be a Fire Team of 4 or a squad of 12. We didn't use Officer because a NCO will usually lead a Fire Team.

Operator2 has the M14 equiped rather than the M4

You're referring to the classnames right? The editor names show what they are a bit better (eg BAS_DeltaOperator2 = Delta Operator M14)

If you dont like any of the editor descriptions then use the "Soldier" or DES Soldier" units. These were put in to give a mission maker complete flexibility in terms of names not containing the load out of the unit. Mission maker can also put any patch they want on the shoulder, including but not limited to the ones we provided with the pack.

Yesterday we played some MP-missions (RangerRaiders, MountainRangers, SacredGround,...) with the deltas and rangers. Just one word: Great!

Team leader is the "officer" but i think they made it team leader instead officer since sergeants at different lvls can be a team leader as well and with some speciels forces like the SAS its sergeants leading the patrols/missions and officers doing the overall planning so they arent really in the mission. At least from what book material i have read.

M4 SOPMOD are the special forces M4. It has the possibility to add a lot of different accesories like these used in the weapon pack where SD is the silencer. So if you combine these you will see what the weapon has.

Me found glitch,I put a soldier team with a patch from the 82nd and a ranger assault team on the map. When I went to preview the rangers had a 82nd patch too. I tried the patch code on the rangers to give em the 75th again with no luck. This doesn't happen when you have two different squad's of soldiers though.

I did all the missions, now i need more!

Somebody make some missions please.

Btw. Very good work, as BAS are hosting project UK forces i hope the Brits they are going to be of the same quality so we could have some really good combined spec ops missions.
