Taurus 20 Posted February 3, 2003 Should I buy Resistance? I would do it if this survey comes out good 1: Is it possible in "Resistance" to give targets to gunners(human) in vehicles, when playing MP? (e.g. Tankcommander can give Tankgunner targets 2: Is "Resistance" optimized for Win-XP? 3a: Has editing MP-mission in in "Resistance" been made easier? (Soldiers not given unit-ID's, Vehicles does not report to clients of it's exsistance, scripts can be created and edited in the mission-editor instead of alt+tabbing and modified in notepad) 3b: Has the editor in "Resistance" been modified? (is it now possible to place buildings in the editor, not using add-ons) 3c: is it possible to place invisible hostile objects in the editor (units/object) that AI soldiers, vehicles can target(DoTarget/DoFire) at? 3d: Is Cameras "drag and droppable" in the editor? e.g. musn't be scripted 4: Has "Resistance" Enhanced physics, grenades, rockets, etc (Cold War Crisis, has some, but it can be improved) 5: Missions by night in "Resistance", is it still just "greyed" out, AI sees you, but AI does not use NV-Googles 6: Can AI see through bushes in "Resistance", e.g. bushes are not object. 7: Has overall MP-Gameplay been improved in "Resistance"? 8: Has "Resistance" artillery guns(e.g. howitzers) not scripted, but placeable and you can order the gunner to fire at a certain position? 9: Has buildings more "mass" in "Resistance", than in "Cold War Crisis". e.g. you can not run through them, walls are to "thin"? 10: has the dammagemodels been remodeled, are they still "skewed vertex" in "Resistance"? Simple yes,no answers would do nicely. If this topic has been discussed eariler, and if in other forms, moderators please lock this thread, and if you could link to the "original" thread it would be of much help. john_mcclane 0 Posted February 4, 2003 Spitfire: Having used several soundcards with OFP (SB Live, Fortissimo III, etc.), I very highly recommend the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. The sound quality in OFP with hardware acceleration on is excellent. They can be found online for around $50.
Taurus 20 Posted February 4, 2003 Pardon me for beeing rude on you guys, but can you please leave your soundcard purchasing discussion out of my thread? If you start a new one, I would be very interested in following that one, because I'm also in the "buying a new soundcard" mood. I still needs to be convinced that it's worth buying OPF Resistance. Major Fubar 0 Posted February 4, 2003 I can honestly say i don't know a single OFP player who was disappointed with it. In fact, most (I know) think it is fantastic. If I was to rate it for content, enjoyability and playablility, I would give it at least 8 out of 10.

Spitfire 0 Posted February 4, 2003 Should you consider buying Resistance? Yes. But why? Although the answer to most of the things you asked is "no" I feel none of them would matter anyway. If you feel that enhanced graphics & bigger textures, a more stable game engine, a tad better MP code, pistols, the ability to drop weapons and get rid of that annoying empty LAW on your back and all the new superior scripting commands are not enough for you, there's another thing that has to be remembered: No matter how unfortunate it is, the bitter fact is that the community around v1.46 has nearly died already. It's a lot harder to find MP games running v.1.46 than it is to find those running Resistance. These days it still may be possible, but not for long, I'm sure of that. Also, practically every current top add-on maker focuses in making add-ons for Resistance only, and most of them are not compatible with v1.46. Same goes with new missions - either they use those "Resistance only" add-ons, or scripts not compatible with v1.46. When they first announced that BIS is making an official expansion pack for OFP, I didn't hesitate a second whether or not I was going to buy it the day it hit the shelves. I didn't buy Red Hammer since I didn't feel that a new campaign (which is not even made by BIS! would add enough to the gameplay that it was worthy to pay for. Resistance, however, is a completely different matter. In addition to the best campaign I've ever seen, it looks stunningly more beautiful and has a lot of new features and better stability, IMHO. Taurus 20 Posted February 4, 2003 Spitfire That was very well written. Thank you. *running to the store/onlinestore(eehm not running to the onlinestore, buys the Restistance expansion*
Winters 1 Posted February 4, 2003 You did the right thing taurus, while resistance wont "blow your doors down" it is an improvement from the original. The Campaign, Bus and Motorbike as well as the ability to get rid of empty LAW/RPG (that stick up like an arrow saying "Here i am, come shoot me now") are worth it alone. USMC Sniper 0 Posted February 4, 2003 Good choice Taurus. Resistance is one of the better expansion packs out there, it doesn't only add new stuff but fixes a lot, and improves the graphics quality. Plus you get to use EVERY cool new addon, from the DKM Comanche to the LSD to Sigma's Tank pack. You won't be dissappointed.

walker 0 Posted February 4, 2003 Hi The_Taurus You can't play the latest Command Engine without it stuck there with double click return. With the latest updates to the engine you get lots of new code to make missions with and MP is better. The latest version of the code deals with large scale battles much better so you can play realy Big Wars. Dont see how you can play the latest MODs and addons without it. The trees are great and bumpy ground is briliant much more sneeky hide and seek and duck and dive for cover. Of Course you could just get the Gotty edition Kind Regards walker
