That just is stupid.

Now they've really made a bad image of the gaming industry, especially Counter Strike.

Heck CS is a bad game anyway. biggrin.gif

Well, hey i drive with the driver's hatch open.  biggrin.gif

If you see such a person attacking you, he's prolly running at you with a knife in his hand trying to stab you in a very unproffessional way. If you slap such a person in the face, he would use "Hey i was lagging" as an excuse for not being able to prevent the slap.

Geez, those CS players are taking things a little too far....but I'm not really surprised. I've seen my fair share of people crack the shits at LANs after dying in CS... smile.gif Funny stuff

<!--emo&tounge.gif<span id='postcolor'>

Isn t that sock-it connected to the "directconnect" driver ?

uhm .... i can imagine what s gonna become of the Bluetooth wireless connection when using sock-it.

But to stay ontopic : i think it s patetic that people who re loosing seek refuge in physical violence.

I don t think it has even remotely to do with the violence we see in the games, i mean, we ve seen it in sports for so long now, on and off the field. I think it s just a case of how well someone copes with his losses.

When playing online the only thing you can get angry with is your mouse and keyboard, hell i ve been sooooo many time ... and i m 3 keyboards further now and 1 PS/2 gamepad.... maybe thats why i dont attend LAN's tounge.gif

They maybe think it s cheaper taking the guy that s causing them the frustration than paying for a new keyboard wow.gif

The sad thing is, when a biiiiig riot happens with alot of hooligans after a football ( soccer for the USsies ), then it are the changing times they say, they clean up afterwards and wait for the next confrontation between two sides is to start over again.

When a much much lesser brawl happens in a cybercafé it s big news, why .... ?  Cause the gaming industry and more in particular the FPS shooters ( who are becoming much much more violent and realistic - not cs ofcourse tounge.gif ) are an easy target. Why ? ... i think it has alot to do that it s being judged by older people, who are against it and most of the time simply not understand it that there are other forms of entertainment than watching tv.  I mean, how many times didn t i hear the comment " I dont understand why you can get so involved in a game ... "

Maybe when the next generation newsreporters have some saying in what s news and what s not it will all improve ....

I m not saying it s ok what happened, i m just saying that maybe it isn t gone be treathed as bigger news than 3.000 football fans going at it against each other, tearing the neighbourhood to pieces where it happens.

My 2 cents, they are free .....

*shakes head* Geesh... Those guys have issues. This reminds me of one incident that happend to my friend at a netcafe by me.

He was playing CS and kept on knifing this one guy. He got really pissed because my friend did it like 10 times. When he found out that my friend was the one who kept killing him he chased him around the cafe. From what my friend said it was pretty funny.

Another thing I heard is when this place by me first opened up some guy was playing CS and got soooo pist that he punched the monitor and broke the glass. Only to come out with a bloody hand and a 500 dollar debt. tounge.gif

People need to learn the difference between reality and games..

This is a young asian group. I speak from experience, it's kind of in their culture to have a few good fights with people until they grow up. And many of them do practice martial arts, and do use it as a weapon, dot defense. Most fights take place in the arcade or near by... so yeah, it kind of fits as Internet Cafe also.

EDIT: Don't get involved...

Swords are possible... but LOL they are just looking for an excuse to fight. It's not actually the games. They are simply gangs.

I don't know where you live, but here in Finland I have noticed a similar kind of thing; Chinese and Vietnamese immigrants tend to hang around near arcades, sometimes looking for a fight. I remember when I was like 15 when my friend got his teeth kicked in by a gang of Chinese, in a 10 vs. 1 situation. They also used their ninja skills to abduct his wallet and cellphone! I try not to have any prejudices against immigrants, but this not the only time I've seen Chinese mobbing people.

Those guys really have nothing better to do, have they? Damn, no self control at all...

A friend of mine plays day of defeat and he get's constantly killed (he get's killed 10 times before he kills an opfor) and he still isn't using violence.

But those dudes are just lame. Besides, just as a few of you guys mentioned, CS sucks... biggrin.gif

i don't have CS (and by the sound of it im glad i don't) so what is the big deal when somebody gets stab w/ a knife? dose it kill somebody instantly or something? what other things piss the CS players off?

I can only talk about other multiplayer games. For example soldier of Fortune 2 has the USAS and M4 grenade launcher in it. Basically every longterm player never uses them cause they are cheating-guns that compensate bad aiming. Still every new player uses them. What is so anoying about it is that even though the game has reached patch 1.4 this problem has not been dealt with yet. Are the developers ever playing their game?

not really. what you said about martial arts is stereotype. i've had many asian friends and most of them don't know a shit about fighting. and they themselves do not consider fighting something that is to be dealt as a growing up experience.

the problem with CCs is that they tend to attract those ppl who like to hang out. so instead of going to theaters and other places, their venue is CC. unfortunately, the incidents described in the article do not look at the alternative reasons why such gathering occurs - lack of places to go

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Police have reportedly been called out to Internet caf? in the Orange County area more than 300 times since June, with much of the violence being attributed to Asian gang disputes.

"Gang violence can occur anywhere but what gang members do is they identify locations where people congregate and then they want to put a stranglehold on and take over," said Zine, a former LAPD officer. <span id='postcolor'>

the article says Orange County. that is a one big place and helluva boring place. furthermore, the article does not mention how many time a dispatch has been sent to one cybercafe. just collective numbers. so if there are 100 CCs in OC, it's only 3 times since June, per CC. so that is not a lot.

furthermore, OC is not LA. wink.gif

no way man smile.gif I am not being racist here, and the stereotype is more true than you think. Look, I told you I speak from experience, I reall can't say any more, I am a trusted person.

Sure your asian friens (most) are not paracticing nor teaching martial arts, but that does not mean what I said is a lie. There are serious gang problems in many cities in relation to the asian population. Vancouver is one city in Canada that has a bit of trouble.

Don't push me

wow.gifwink.gif would I lie?

I am just talking about asian gangs. Really though, stereotypes or not, believe what you want. biggrin.gif I can't contribute much more to this particular thread.

Why can't they just settle this over a good quick game of counter strike?

Then we'll put them in OFP and own them. biggrin.gif
