Hi, i'm a french beginner on mapping on arma 3 and i have an error when i try to pack in pbo with pbo project, "pbo can't read wrp" , "makepbo failed"

I don't know where come this error and i google it but i found nothing, also if anybody can help !

sounds like your wrp is corrupted/bugged in some way

 

best to join the arma discord and reach out in the terrain makers channel

did you try a different computer yet, or let someone else binarize it?

like could be also some file system permission issues, or anti virus/etc interfering

I'm getting the same error, can't read wrp. If I follow the basic pmc terrain tutorial everything works fine, but if I try to alter anything whatsoever or if I try to follow the real world data pmc tutorial I can never get the pbo to pack, but everything works fine in the bulldozer preview. I've followed the pmc P drive setup and terrain guides 100% exactly, and I've started over from scratch about 50 times, I'm beyond frustrated.

@Drty_Windshield If following PMC tutorial works, then it is something odd you do in your own process. do a terrain with PMC so that it works, then try to pack it after every alteration you make to pinpoint what it is that breaks it.

There is an issue with the latest free tools, where it wont pack if the maps lowest point is between 0-1m. Make sure your map has some height to it and add some water. Or rise the whole terrain up.

 

He plans to release new free tools sometime in future...

Well, it doesnt make sense... At the moment I found a workaround for this issue: unmount the p drive and mount it again... maybe the root of the problem is related to .wrp file permissions.

Are you using Arma tools to mount your P drive? Did you use it to also extract files to the P drive?

As that is the wrong way to do it! You need to use mikero's arma3p to extract files to P and a simple .bat file to mount the P drive.

Also don't use the Arma Tools launcher to load Terrain Builder, use a shortcut to terrainbuilder.exe. The launcher does weird stuff...

Thanks for the help @RoF I was using both Arma Tools launcher and Mikero Tools... certainly that's a mess. I think it's better start from the scratch...

Well, I reinstalled Arma 3 Tools, mounted P drive as PCM explains and follow the rest of the terrain tutorial step by step (only I changed the tag and project name)... and I'm still stuck with the same error:

you might want to consider joining the Arma3 Discord for more immediate help.

Also do you have any water on your terrain or is your terrain very flat?

Also does it work in Buldozer

try lowering an area of water like -10 meters at some corner. I think the free Mikero tools have a bug currently that there needs to be terrain under water.

IT WORKS! I opened the heightmap with L3DT and set a lower value  (-10) to a smallest zone of the terrain and now it crunch without any issues. Thanks so much @HorribleGoat!

I don't mean to necrobump, but for anyone trying to find a solution to the problem of "Pbo can't read wrp" --> the workaround proposed (set a random quad of nodes to -10 elevation in TB if your heightmap is (far) above 0 elevation) is still a solution to the problem, and the bug appears to still be present as of posting this.
