@Aquila (DayZ) i was thinking the heli spawns could be plane spawns as well. I'll see what can I do

Oh, I tend to test with east, indeed. I noticed there is sometimes a button for remote units purchase, butbit disappears quickly. Will look into how it works for west.

the button is just bit laggy. you can get the vehicle drop from the support menu

i released new version which not only contain new features but I also rewrite some code to be more efficient, so I hope I didn't break anything in the process. If there's any new bugs please let me know. thx!

 

What's new:

 

aircraft bought in carriers can now have a gunner
airdrop can now drop entire squad (costs more)
vehicle drop for east (apex)
changed how menu buy buttons update
bug fixes and tweaks

What's the reason for aircraft on carriers to have gunners, but not pilots? Are AI pilots bad in taking off from the carrier?
I'm not sure for airplane takeoffs, they are somewhat tricky, but pilots of airlift helicopters are taking off nicely.

It's just that they will take off.

Well, they do it for airlift operations 🙂 And even land on a carrier just before taking off! 😁 

If this is permitted, why shouldn't heli pilots take off in their regular helis?

well if you really want, sure. I just thought they might create a mess when operating on their own

Well, it's player's decision to either purchase some helis with AI pilots or to avoid that... I'm just thinking it might be good to have this opportunity to launch air raids from carrier (if a FOB is unavailable or has heavy coverage of enemy AA nearby, for example).

 

Of course, it seems logical to add AI pilots on carrier in the same release with multiple spawning points for helis on carrier, otherwise it would be indeed a complication with only 1 spawning point.

Yes but I was thinking of multiplayer game where people buy aircraft at the same time. 

 

but I did quick test and two helis were able to liftoff without colliding to anything. so it might work 🤔

Works, but dispersion is still large. I'd adjust the costs — VTOL shouldn't cost just as much for every extra soldier, in my opinion.

Works, although a bit weirdly. I ordered a Qilin with minigun twice, standing close to a coastline, and both times VTOL arrived from the sea and dropped the vehicle into waves 🙂

Ordered a Qilin at FOB — VTOL appeared and passed by far away, maybe 1km, I wasn't able to see where the vehicle landed. Ran there, ordered 2 more times — VTOL appeared above sea, passed by the coast, flew along entire Malden coast SW to N, made a U-turn there and flew along the coast back, and disappeared. I had no idea whether the vehicle had been dropped anywhere — not in my visible space, at least.

 

 

A few questions and comments:

  • When I call for marines — is their boat armed or unarmed? I saw once how the board was sunk by enemy MRAP on approach to the coastline, but I didn't notice the boat was firing back.
  • For vehicle drop — it's a bit illogical to make quad bike cost the same $3000 as Qilin with minigun.

i made it expensive because i thought it would be quite OP if you can just land your squad next to enemy base just like that. So the other transport means still plays their role

When I test I use VR map , so maybe I need to start testing with other maps if it's the elevation that causes these problems

That's because you are playing in the free vehicles mode. The drop it self costs 3k

i doubt but you can always test with the default loadout

 

i have mostly experienced the locking system in editor and it didn't seem so simple in there either. And if vehicle has their engine turned off that denies them from being locked on

In A3 it depends on the sensors used by specific missile. IR-targeted missiles need heat from engine or from fired weapons to lock. Visual-targeted don't need that, but need a line of sight, unobstructed by fog or smoke. Radar-targeted need radar highlight.

Have you tried an attack heli showcase? Kajman targets enemy vehicles in this mission from several kilometers.

haven't tried but I just did some tests (in the editor) with Wipeout and the targeting was really hard, just as i remembered it to be

did some more testing and noticed that the targeting works best in the first person view using the aircrafts optics. in 3rd person mode it's very hard to lock on

Indeed, I've reported that in this thread. But even in 1st person view I have targets on my radar, and clicking R doesn't even select radar targets like it should. I have to turn the crosshair to the target and click T...

I know you have. I'm looking into this now but even with Blackfoot scalpel missiles I cant get a lock on for some reason. I'm pressing the T key for that

ok so i got some scalpel missiles from the loadout editor and was able to lock on with those. so the problem shouldn't be with the custom loadout. at least i hope so 🙂

The locking doesn't work if you don't have a gunner, so good to keep that in mind 🙂

What was the distance to target when the locking started? Part of my problem is in really small distance for locking, while enemy AA locks on me from much greater distance.

Interesting notice. I usually buy helis with gunner in FOB, though.

i was able to lock from 2km with Blackfoot. further than that i don't see the enemy vehicles anymore

 

 

oh and that was on VR map. so no obstacles for visibility
