habdoel 0 Posted November 20, 2002 is the inside (cocpit) still the same as the patria, or is it a new version? but from the outside i really like this btr.
dkraver 1 Posted November 21, 2002 This addon is going in the right direction, i really like it. Here are some issues to look at. - Scale (already mentioned). - When "sailing" it floats a bit high. Now its like this (this is in contact with bottom) Should be like this - Cockpit need work here's a display on how it should be. - When closing window you should have the angle mirror as driving view, with use of the view button ("v" is default). Now you cant see anything. - Gunner chair needs texture - Turret. At this moment you have the turret as a turret with open holes that you can look out from. Should be something like this where you have some kind of optics on the right side (when looking at it from the front like on the picture). In the middle the 14.5mm KPVT MG (not mounted on picture) and on the left the 7.62mm PKT MG (not mounted on picture). - Optics ("v" default) on gunner should be made a bit more clear. Its a little blurry at some places. - Maybe add a commander next to the driver. - Driver seems to be in conflict with something, he shakes a lot. - Maybe move the sparewheel up on one of the holder's on the left or right or remove it so the water-jet exhaust is shown/clear. Not a must. Picture - Exit/Entry doors not visible on either left or right side. Both inside and outside. Its places between the 2nd and 3rd wheel. Picture Well that should be it. Looking forward to the finished model.
ZLOY 0 Posted November 21, 2002 That wheel is there to protect it from RPG hits.....sometines its also placed on the sides, and on the top (and behind the turret)
miles teg 1 Posted November 21, 2002 </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (AKM74 @ Nov. 20 2002,23:40)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">i made base model exactly the same size as original. 7 1/3 in oxygen. and BRDM2 is taller then BTR70 in real life http://armor.kiev.ua/Tanks/Modern/brdm2/brdm2_draw.gif<span id='postcolor'> Perhaps, but it still looks just a tiny bit too small.  For example, stick it next to the BMP-1.  I've been in and around a real BMP-1 and they are fairly low to the ground and not all that big, but the BMP-1 looks huge next to the BTR-70.  Perhaps find some real life pics of a BTR-60, 70 or 80 next to a BMP.  I found these specs: BTR-70:  Length:  7.5 m  Width:  2.8 m  Height:  2.2 m (At FAS.org it's dimensions (LxWxH m)  7.85m x 2.8m x 2.45m) BMP-1:  Length:  6.7m    Width:  2.9m   Height: 2.2m As you see, it's very similar to the BMP-1.  If you get it close to the size of the BMP-1 (except a bit longer) then you'll be pretty close to the real scale. BIS actually has some of it's scale sizes incorrect according to some addon makers I've talked to.  Aside from that the scale, there are only minor bugs that others mentioned (and fixing the turret so that it looks more realistic inside).   Oh...also the red tracers look AWESOME...bug...  they look a little strange when you are the gunner shooting them.  It's not a big problem just a little wierd in that the tracer line isn't exactly straight...it makes this wierd angle.  But again, that's just a minor glitch and it's not really that bad.  I really like the new sounds.  Nice and heavy on the HMG, and normal on the coaxial.  Excellent job on that sound.  I also really like the dammage levels of the 14.5mm HMG.  It's just about perfect.  It takes a long time to do dammage on a tank, but it can tear up lightly armored APC's quite nicely as it can in real life.  For example during the last Gulf War, one M2 Bradley IFV gunner was badly wounded when a 14.5mm round penetrated his turret and hit him in the hip.  The M2 is a fairly heavily armored IFV so you can imagine what it does to something like a M113.  Nice effect also how it blows back the infantry when it hits them.  Very cool!  So high marks on the gun implementation.  The moving windows panels also rock, but as someone else mentioned the periscope gets blocked also when the armored panels are closed.  That would be great if that could be fixed.  Also it would be nice if the interior had more texturing. At any rate, overall this is a wonderful addon that is extremely useful in OFP missions as it fills a nice gap for such jobs as convoy escort duties where heavier tracked armor just gets in the way of the trucks.  It's also a nice fast way of moving troops around on the ground and it can take a good deal of punishment.  So keep up the excellent work and please continue updating it! Also don't forget that with some minor changes you could turn it into a modern BTR-80 as well.  Until the next update, your BTR-70's will be seeing heavy combat in Nogova.   They are featured in my mission "Operation Condor" which can be downloaded from my missions page on the link in my signature.  However I need to update the mission as it has a few bugs in it that I hope to fix this weekend. ALDEGA 0 Posted November 21, 2002 Hasn't anyone noticed that you can only open/close the windows when you are within a small range of your original position (place where vehicle is set in mission editor). Apparently 1.85 doesn't support these actions for moving objects. It was designed for the housedoors (I believe) which ofcourse can't move. Maybe this could be addressed in a future patch? edit: it works fine now, dunno why, maybe 1.90, maybe something else
CanadianTerror 0 Posted November 22, 2002 The exterior is great and really fits in well with the other Russian vehicles. The interior is bad.
PFC_Mike 2 Posted November 22, 2002 you can open/close windows from outside the vehicle. just as a person walking around. Maybe put the PK model in the turret as the 7.62? Also, use UCE Ak textures for the AK's in vehicle. nice work, thenak you very much.

Maybe this could be addressed in a future patch?<span id='postcolor'> works fine for me, i also dont think its a 1.85 problem as the nam pack huey's door animation will work miles away from where you start, also, i noticed something really strange, if you use the command menu to make an ai driver/pilot/cargo activate the animation ( `(or F2/3/4etc) 6 (number of animation) ) then the animation is always selectable, whther you are going 300kph in the air as pilot, or then land 5km away from the start point as cargo and open the back door on the ch-47, and even stranger it is still there when i restart ofp, and on any vehicle, probably just a really weird bug but still an easy fix
Vikingo 0 Posted November 25, 2002 WOW! Nice work. Like very much this new beta version. The option to can open/close the front armor protection is the thing I was waiting for see in the addon. Great and thanks for add that! Hope any future BTR-70/80 from other addon makers will have this same nice touch there. Because is a beta sure the inside part will be upgraded in final version with more little details (hope so hehe)... Can have the option for "optics" will add a lot so when you close the front you can see outside. And also add some periscope texture details inside for the driver can be so nice. I like the gun flash effect and the sound. So... if the final version upgrade/fix things like between the beta 1 and this new one this will be a really great addon for Soviet side! ;-) Like this one!
