Whats your favourite loadout?

Recommended Posts

What do you prefer to go into combat with and what role do you like to take? Only the weapons that came with OFP, the patches and expansion packs, so no unofficial addons.

I like the XM177E2, 10 spare mags, silenced Glock 17, Binocs and NVG. Shame there isn't a silenced XM177 though, or i'd have that. smile.gif

It depends on the mission objectives.

I'm starting to like the XM177E2 a lot more lately, there are times when the full-auto mode comes in real handy.

However, the best all-around rifle in my opinion is the G36.

I rarely take more than 5 magazines, because I can always scavenge and take an enemy rifle if I run out of ammo. The remaining slots are usually taken up with grenades, satchel charges, or a LAW launcher. Binocs are a must, but I'm not too fond of the NVGs and usually don't bother with them.

You should also take a look at Flipper's M4 pack, he's done a really nice job on the sounds and textures, and the rifle handles very well, especially in semi mode.

I agree that the G36 is the best, but on my comp when you fire it in auto it just sounds like a wet fart, same with the G3, FN FAL and the AUG because the rate of fire is so much higher than the AKs or the XM177s, it blurs the sound and it wastes ammo. XM177 is much more controlable.

i would take the XMS with eather the Carl or the AT4 my choise would be Heavy AT soilder. and the Russan pistol Trovala or something like that. i find NV not really needed in most maps but when required i will take it

but for close quarter combate i would take the M16M203 i find the AK have too manny options to switch to in order to get to the gernade

I wish the Night vision was like when you left it on during cutscenes. No blur and full field of view, that way it doesn't reduce your FPS. I dont really like the XM177S because the scope takes up too much of your view and i can use the normal iron sights better

West side: M16+4 mags, LAW+1 missile, binocs, Ingram+mags, 2x mortars (these are really devastating if used right) and NVs if it's night time

East side: SVD+5 mags, RPG+2 missiles, binocs, hand grenade, Scorpion+mags

Resistance side: Hunting rifle+6 mags, RPG+1 missile, binocs, 2 hand grenades, Ingram+mags

XM could also be my weapon of choice for west because it can also use mortars.

It's easy to make NVs have more vision, but it will be consired as cheating in MP wink.gif.

NOTHING WITH A SCOPE! smile.gif I loathe scopes and cringe when the mission forces me to use an m21 wink.gif Basically a m16 or ak74 suits me just fine, I have been known to be a bit partial to the FN FAL.

In a pinch, a M16 or an AK74/47 will do- of the 3 I'd take an AK, as the open sights give much better visibiliy

I completely agree with you, the sounds desperately need to be revamped.

Whenever I have the choice or get established as a section commander I almost always carry an M-21 or Dragunov w/ 3 LAW's or 3 RPG's along with bino's and NVD's if neccesary. I leave the close-in fighting and machine gunning to my section.

I would love to be a grenadier or AT guy on more missions but the limited ammo load-out situation with OFP has been around since v1.00 and has not yet been fixed. sad.gif

I should be able to carry a minumum of 36 40mm grenades with me as a grenadier or 2 84mm Carl Gustav rounds with me as an AT gunner, with extra ammo distributed throughout the section.

As with the Dragunov: C'mon, two 10 round mags should be able to be kept in one slot in place of a 20 round mag of the M-21. The ammo loadouts are among the most unrealistic problems with OFP.

That's why I never take a Carl Gustav or AT4 -- they don't ensure a kill on a tank, and a single round from a LAW or RPG launcher will still take out an IFV or APC.

I'd rather take the LAW or RPG and take my chances against MBTs than carry a single AT round. The LAW or RPG are simply more versatile.

well, i tend do be an easy target, so not much for me tounge.gif

thesedays, I usually pack Steyr, 2 hand grenades and LAW/RPG, 2 rounds of it. Binocs are great, and if possible a handgun, with highest ammo count.

I love to carry the M60 since I've had so much practice with it. Otherwise I have and M21 because I prefer to have a farther effective range then everyone else. If I have the 60 I usually have Jester cover me with something(usually a m21).

When I play as west I usually go for a G36 w/5 mags, 2 LAWs, any sidearm (pref. Beretta) and Binocs. The M21 is also a favourite.

When I play as east I usually go for a regular AK74 (not much else to choose from), 2 - 3 RPGs, a Scorpion and Binocs. The Bizon is okay for stealth-ops.

When I play as resistance I usually go for our wonderful new elephant-rifle biggrin.gif , 1 RPG, and an Ingram. If the sniper-rifle is'nt available then a regular AK47 will have to do smile.gif

As east: Pk or Ak + rpg launcher +handgun

I use heavy grenade launcher if there are crates near so

I have unlimited ammo.

For sniping i prefer the SVD over the M21 because i find the scope more effective at hitting things over 500m or so, with the dragunov its possible to get head shots at around 800m if you use the scope right, with the M21 however, its complete guesswork after 400m or so. I wish you could carry 36 or so grenades it normally takes me 3 just to get the accuracy right because they removed the grenade sight from the game (it was in the demo). I loved that sight, it was so effective, you could hit people with perfect accuracy up to 400m. In V1.0 you could take out a T80 with one AT rocket, they seem to have increased the armour a bit. You can take out a T72 with one though, but with 3 RPGs you could take out a T72 and a BMP.
