R/c vehicles ?

Recommended Posts

Is any one on these forums into r/c vehicles ?

My first ever rc car was a tamiya TL-01 chassis with ford focus body shell my second which i still own is a Hpi Nitro RS4 2 chassis with a Toyota Celica body shell.

Im also into planes and tanks.

my dad owns a 1/16 German Tiger 1 tank which is very detailed, realistic and it has sounds to. It cost around 300Šwow.gif  but its well well worth it.

Some movies i found of it

Booming Cannon

Turret moving

7.92mm MG34 machine gun fire.

Tiger 1 moving

More info at Tamiya

Excellent, it's a shame they don't model King Tigers, or Panthers. (My favourite German tanks)

Although the British Centurion (Just missed action in WWII, widely regarded as the best tank design of the war, still used by many countries today!wink.gif, would be a must buy.

There is also an infra red combat system for the 1/16th RC Tanks. It looks really cool, but it is very very expensive to get going in.

The 1/16th RC's from Tamiya are really cool... and if I ever get back into RC, it will be with one of those!

those tamya R/C 1/16th models rock , i own one myself , it's a late tiger , they're pretty easy to assemble and the electronic system is easier than it seems , and huge fun to play around with them , i got a few friends in a club who also bought one of those , and sometimes we recreate some battles with our R/C tanks , you should see that .... real little kids , and i've just seen that they've released a 1/35 m26 pershing with functionnal supension ....

tamya is one of the best brand of models , what they did with their 1/16 tanks is great , the quality of their static models with the uality of their R/C command organs .... they rock , a shame that they are so much expensive

If you bring one of those out in the states I think you will be quicky arrested and suspected for terrorism. Don't even think of getting one on a plane, they would have to cement all the barrels. biggrin.gif

This stuff is great, I love RC's but don't spend time on them anymore......

Subs? SUbmarines? RC Submarines?

Man those things look good, but not much fun. They go underwater and thats it.

I have a Nitro powered Deep Vee Kyosho Jetstream 1000. Now that baby is fast. biggrin.gif

Yes, I DID THAT A LOT!

When I was young I built several speed-boats and my my pride is a Steamboat. I mean I didnt equip it with a steam-engine but it has those paddlewheels. It looks somewhat like this one but is british one called Glasgow, they are not so kitschy and painted black, red and white, also bigger and sink deeper into the water. My model is around 1.2m and terribly heavy because I had to put weights into it.

And then I have a version of the African Queen with a Real Steam Engine. That thing is not so easy to build and if you make a mistake it burns down (just kidding). The steam engine itself costs around 250 Euro and that is not too much.

It works with 2 cylindres and gas (same as you use for a lighter). I was surprised, that thing has quite some power. The picture bellow shows exactly the same engine I used to have, maybe a bit more advanced.

Heh, I was searching the net for rc submarines about a week ago, I found some really interesting ones which actually use the ballast system like a real submarine. Some guys had developed torpedoes and one submarine was even able to launch cruise missiles up to 35 feet from underwater. So who said that they just go underwater and that's it? smile.gif

I would love to get into R/C stuff, but what I would rather have is cars/boats/whatever with a real engine, rather than an electronic one.

Do you guys know of anything like that? Best thing would be an R/C hummer with an engine and moveable/working Mk-19 Grenade launcher that fires plastic BB's or something biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

I had a Russian-made RC sub when I was a kid...the thing was hooked up to the controller by cable though. Think it had something like 50 feet of cable. All the control did was throttle, you had to set the control surfaces by hand before putting it in water. It was still pretty fun though smile.gif. Even though you couldn't change the dive planes in the water, using the throttle you could make it surface or dive once you got the hang of it.

Talking about BB Bullets..

I've seen a RC tank somewhere that can fire 6 MM BB Bullets.

Hmmn... gonna find a link.

they are in fact a lot cooler but there are quite a few arguments against it. First of all you must know about motors to properly work with it. It sounds so easy because they are so small but no, it can get complicated. Secondly the construction suddenly becomes more important than the style of the model. because a real motor has quite a lot of power. Thirdly, they are dangerous for amateurs, especially the planes. whenever my brother had a problem with his plane that thing came down like a kamikaze and would have killed anything in its way  biggrin.gif (was a Messerschmidt ME-109 with 1.6m width). Last but not least they are forbidden. There are only few lakes in Germany where you are allowed to use motor-boats. They a freaky noisy and stir up nature. The cars with a motor are realy cool and not so tough to build. But then again you need a special course. The cars are too fast for driving on a public straight road cause after 2 seconds they will be so far away that you could see them no longer. The only thing I can say is dont underestimate the power of the electric motors. It is no surprise that so many prefer the electric solutions. But it all depends.

I don't really like the electric cars, because the batteries run down too fast. sad.gif

That's why i prefer fuel engine RC vehicles, because all u need to do after the gas ran out is to fill it up again. biggrin.gif

And you don't need to change the batteries quickly.

There should be a good few models that use petrol engines and in most of the good model shops u could buy the parts seperate and build ur own car fully.

Heres another interesting r/c gadget.A r/c car with built in wireless camera in the front and on the transmitter u got a smalll color lcd screen so u could drive it with out seeing the actuall car(would be better if it was a plane or helicopter instead) for about Å200 - Å300.

Heres some of the tanks that shoot 6mm bbs biggrin.gif

I had a german sub when I was a kid. I had built it on my own from a kit. It had floating tanks and was able to sink and go up. Had e-engine and a nice functon. Unless it was not radio or wire controlled you only were able to set the rear fin on large circles and let it go. It had an unreal radar mast that was pushed backwards when the sub dived. The mast was connected to main height rudder fin and made it go to surface when it was underwater. Pretty cool thing. It always went up and down. Someday it didnt come up again... Maybe a big fish didnt like the company or it had a hull break at 6 m´s biggrin.gif . I only know that is was much fun and I made my first experiences in "How long can you stay underwater till you turn blue" when I tried to find it. wink.gif
