pr0ph3tswe 1 Posted February 5, 2014 I was looking for a 2nd 7970Ghz to play comfortably in 1440p, I'll wait to get money for a 780 Ti thenThanks ! i will recommend 1 card as well, there's always going to be drawbacks with crossfire/sli, heat, noise, random annoying bugs, low utilization in games etc etc 780/ti works really well :) but so will a cheaper card like the 770 or a aftermarket cooled radeon 290 :D
SERE 10 Posted February 5, 2014 Gonna have to repeat my question Am I correct in understanding that draw distance is primarily limited by RAM and CPU, and the fact that arma3 is a 32-bit exe?

arotished 10 Posted February 7, 2014 draw distance is mostly cpu. Having to play with 30-40FPS in this game with my 4,5Ghz/780Ti SLi even if I go to default Standard videosettings is so crap.....

Just max out everything but viewdistances. 200% sampling rate is pretty neat and loads up the gpu's nicely, if fps is low anyway, might as well enjoy good image quality. Overclock your CPU as much as possible (depends on the quality of your motherboard & CPU cooler) 3. Observe noticeably better FPS and stutter free experience, enjoy :p

mattldempsey 10 Posted February 10, 2014 Im planning on getting an SSD sometime. I overclock my CPU in my BIOS correct? How do I know how much to overclock? With my set-up ASUS Maximus V Formula i5-3570k @3.4ghz The CPU Overclocking feature is on the very first page of the BIOS. It basically gives me three choices to set it at 4.2ghz 4.4ghz 4.6ghz I guess this is the way to overclock for noobs who dont want to do everything manually, which I am fine with, as long as it gives me results. One question I have is how stable is that 4.6ghz configuration likely to be, I set it at 4.4ghz for now. Also is there any way to tell how fast my Corsair h100 cpu cooler. The only way I can tell which setting your in is by the lights on the cooler itself but I would expect more noise when on the performance setting.

How do I know how much to overclock? yeah in bios, you should google some OC guides, there are plenty out there :) noone can tell you how much to oc, it all depends on your cooling, if you got lucky on cpu/mobo etc as all hardware is different, but the i5/i7's usually reach 4.5ghz with good aftermarket air coolers at least

michaeldk 1 Posted February 11, 2014 what ingame settings are you using? I use these settings right now, but it does not matter what I put them on, it gives only 6-8 fps if I put them further down .. I play with a very similar rig and I run 3.5k view distance, 1.5k object detail. It's rare you'll engage targets over that range anyway, and its just far enough away to not be too distracting with pop-ins. Should up your FPS by a good 5-20, I'd wager.
