No it isn't. Look real closely at the model, and you will see that (at least the skin) is from an Ingram chambered for .380

Set it on the ground, and check it out with some binoculars for yourself smile.gif<span id='postcolor'>

You're right. I stand corrected.

And the resemblence is evident:

http://www.remington.com/firearms/centerfire/700LSSLH.HTM

high damage value can be explained by the fact that it can fire also hard-hitting .338 Ultra mag.

.30-06 is nearer to 7.62x51 NATO in hitting power.

Case closed, maybe... wink.gif<span id='postcolor'>

Hmm, you make a good case.  biggrin.gif

But I'm not sure what round the rifle would be chambered for because with large rounds comes reduced magazine capacity. The 'Hunting Rifle' of OFP hold's 6 rounds, 5 in the mag, 1 up the pipe, perhaps? In that case, it might be a .308, or .30-06.

Does anyone know the mag cap for each M700 with each type of round?

Besides, I think the M-21 in OFP is too weak to begin with. I have repeatedly shot people in the chest at 300m, only to have them run away. The increased power of the hunting rifle is nice. To bad the ammo limit is so low: 6 rounds per ammo slot? Is BIS joking?

Yesterday i was testing it. I put myself on the parkinglot of the church on the hill, the one above the village on the east side of the large bridge on nogova. I then put a squad of russian infantry on the road between the bridge and the village. I was able to take out the entire squad with 12 or so rounds. Pretty accurate and the scope enlargement is ok ... the targets just get small at that range but its quite ok.

i did the same.

i set up a soviet squad in the village on the hills north to the factory and had my position in the factory. i shot them all with 10 rounds. The rifle may be slow but because of its power and accuracy it's the best sniper rifle in the game i think.

the 380ACP is a 9mm round, but its the 9mm short not the parabelium (ive never been able to spell that right). I think the 380 ACP is the 9mm Short, correct me if im wrong.

Yep.

9x19 = 9mm Parabellum

9x17 = .380 Auto, or 9mm Kurtz

i dont think the 6 round ammo size is too far off. at our house we have a remington in a .243 and that holds three rounds in the clip. we also have a Mauser bolt 6.5x55 which use to be a military rifle and that seems to hold 5 shells or so if i reamber correctly. but it is a very powerful round great for hunting deer puts a entering hole inside the skinn of a cig butt. and then the bullet just exploades inside and sending srapnal all over on the inside and knocks them down smile.gif

Bullet expands because its prolly hollowpoint

I used to use them, but I found that over great distances, they arnt as accurate as FMJ, SJ or SvP.

My family an I own a few rifles

16gague breaker

12gague pump

.22 bolt

.22 semi leaver

.30-06 bolt (personal fave)

.30-06 semi

.30-08 bolt

.30-30SP leaver

and an asortment of bows

The Remington 700 is by far the most successful hunting rifle ever made, tho im no big fan of north american made guns(prefer european or middle easter), it is a quality rifle.  One to watch for is the EtronX with its electronic firing system.  Unheard of accuracy.

A guy I hunt with, he hunts moose with a H&H .375MAG heavy barrel.  That friggin thing is awsome

Last year he got a moose at 475yards, blow a hole the size of a baseball in it.

A lot of long-range matches are won by guys with hollowpoint bullets. Why? Because they are inherently more accurate than FMJ spitzer bullets. There are two reasons for this: laminar airflow courtesy of the cavity, and a different weight distribution with a center of gravity that is more towards the rear of the bullet.

highly dependant on cal

HP mass expansion is favorable for some velocitys and distances, but not so for others.

My personal experience long range target shooting with HP has been unfavorable. Special Weapons Magazine did a nice article on this discussion. Found that MOA performance decreased when rifles used HP.

If your using it in, lets say, a 22 or 223 at under 150yards, then yah, its ok, but I find that over that, its better to stay away from HP.

LOL, that's a bad question to ask on these forums, half of the people here are either current or ex military.

As for me:

- C7A1:

C7A1_2.jpg

- C9A1 5.56 NATO LMG (FN Minimi)

c9a1.jpg

- C6 7.62 NATO GPMG (FN-MAG)

c6flex.jpg

- 84mm Carl Gustav, Anti-Tank

m3.jpg

- 60mm Mortar

- M-203 40mm Grenade Launcher

M203A1.jpg

- M-72 SRAAW

And other assorted shotguns and .22LR's

So there.  smile.gif

Fired an old bolt action rifle a few times when I was a kid in Cuba, when I was 8 or 9. Used to go to shooting galleries and shoot pellet guns at least every week from the time I was 7 till 10. Now it's paintball guns every couple of months smile.gif.

I 've fired MP-2 (UZI), G-3, MG-3, P-1 (Walther P-38), Pzfst-1(AT-Launcher) and last but not least a 20mm BMK...

I own a Taurus 689 .357, a Walther GSP .22, a M-38 6.5x55 with Scope...

And OFP handguns are way of, in meansof sound, range and recoil...

I havents found a game yet that simulates a handgun before.

So far

The most realistic :

Bullet drop goes to = OFP

Rifle Aming System goes to = OFP

Sniper Rifle aiming system goes to = Deer Hunter 5 (sighting them all in n crap like that)

Weapon modle goes to = Counter-Strike

Weapon sounds go to = Counter-Strike

Animations goes to = Counter-Strike

Bullet to enviroment penetration system = Swat3

Bullet to body penetration system = Soilder of Fortune 2

all i can think of

The weapon models in Counter strike are not the best, most of them have the extraction ports on the wrong side, pentagon shaped sights etc. The most realistic weapon models I have seen in a game are either in SOF2 or OFP. After seeing most of these weapons in real life then comparing them to the ones in game they are of very good quality.

OFP has one of the worst Handgun simulations I have seen. The models are somewhat low poly (that doesnt count thoguh), they have no recoil except a small jitter upwards, terrible sounds, crappy anims (well ofp's anims are the worst part of it, imo). Global Operations has the best sounds because the guys fired all the guns and recoreded the sounds. Same with AA, but their ak sound is wierd, ive heard an ak before. Counter Strike has the best anims because many ppl made their own ones, and SOF2 also has excellent anims.

From the little I've seen, the best ingame weapon models seem to be Global Operations and/or Team Factor, just my not-so-humble opinion...

This seems to be straying into gun debate and/or discussion about other games, either of these two would make it an OT thread, I'll give it a lil more of a chance being the patient forgiving moderator that I am smile.gif
