Hunting rifle question

Recommended Posts

Just a quick question regarding the new Hunting Rifle introduced in 1.85 patch: is it based on any specific model of rifle, or is just a generic bolt-action hunting rifle?

Thanks - Fubar

I thought it was an m24, or whatever the civilian version of that would be, it looks sorta similar but I am no gun freak so I am probably wrong as usual smile.gif

Anyone else noticed the cartrige (sp?) ejection is on the left side of the rifle. I can see an epidemic of blinded Rsistance snipers on the horizon  tounge.gif

i think it's a bit over powered. I was able to kill a soldier from 300 meters when i hit his leg.

I think its either a Remington Model 700 or an M40. Its definately not an M24, Its a left handed one though, the emties are ejected left and the cocking lever is on the left hand side (go to 3rd person view and reload to find out why). Theres one problem though, it fires tracers. I like the way its overpowered though. It gives you a reason to use it over the M21 or the SVD

Excellent rifle, but I think the problem is that SVD and M21 are bit underpowered. Nevertheless, bolt action has way more style than semi-auto.

Yes it's definitely a deadly gun. <!--emo&tounge.gif

Seems to be a little too accurate for a non-military weapon. But I am not a hunter. smile.gif

If it is an M700 then it is not far off, the military version is the M40 with a slightly different stock all the rest is the same. And these rifles aren't magazine fed, you simply load the rounds in the top when the Cocking lever is all the way back, so the magazine pic is wrong, it should just be a pic of 6 seperate rounds. And I wish BIS gave the weapon the proper name, instead of Hunting rifle, S&W or Ingram, they should of put M700 (if it is that), S&W whatever it is (629?) and the Ingram (M11?), If you look close enough at the ingram you Know it fires the .380 ACP or 9mm short because it says on the side, so is it the M11? Haven't a clue which S&W it is, its like calling the MP5 the "HK" which they also do. And calling the resistance sniper the "hunting rifle" is like calling the M16 the "US assault rifle"

The scope reminds me of a Zeiss Diavari 1.5-6x42mm scope. The reticles look the same, but the zoom cannot be adjusted.

Dunno about the rifle, doesn't look familiar.

Most hunting rifles are quite accurate. More accurate than semi-automatic military rifles anyway...

On thing that threw me off was the ability to reload the Hunting Rifle while running! But you cant reload a hand gun while running? Some1 contacted BIS about this? Seems like it would be more realistic to change a clip of a 9mm runnin instead of stoppin etc.! Maybe im wrong tho.

Kevin

PS:My guess is that it may be a Browning Stalker hunting rifle. I own one, and my friend Trinec made one and imported 2 days b4 this was released and it looks remarkably similar bolt action and everything.

If the Ingram in the game does fire 9mm short, than it is the Mac-10, the M-11 is the rarer version in .45 acp.

I don't think that is correct.

AFAIK, the M-11 was never chambered in .45ACP, only .380ACP and 9mm. The M-10 was available in 9mm and .45ACP, but not .380ACP.

It's most definately Remington 700, extracted O_WP.pbo at Res/Addons folder and in contained 'w_Remington.paa' picture file, same one you see as the hunting rifle inventory pic.

And the resemblence is evident:

http://www.remington.com/firearms/centerfire/700LSSLH.HTM

high damage value can be explained by the fact that it can fire also hard-hitting .338 Ultra mag.

.30-06 is nearer to 7.62x51 NATO in hitting power.

Case closed, maybe... wink.gif

Your'e probably right...but the .30-06 hits significantly harder than the 7.62 X 51mm round...admittedly, not as hard as the .338

If you look close enough at the textures with binoculars it says M11A1 on the side.

And why can't BIS rename the rifle to "M700" instead of "Hunting Rifle"

That would make sense, since the M-11 was either .380 or 9mm, and the weapon in OFP is a 9mm.

I've put many, many rounds through suppressed M-10s by the way, and the rate of fire is much higher than in the game. It will empty a 32-round magazine (loaded with 30 rounds) in under two seconds. tounge.gif

Funny, the inverntory image for me is the same as the M21 and the info box is the same.

It's a shame there's no zoom.

No it isn't. Look real closely at the model, and you will see that (at least the skin) is from an Ingram chambered for .380

Set it on the ground, and check it out with some binoculars for yourself smile.gif
