Tex -USMC- 0 Posted October 13, 2002 Well, there is obviously only one course of action- WE MUST BAN GAMES! And we should also outlaw guns, water, and fun while we are at it.

Audie Murphy 0 Posted October 14, 2002 This happened before with Counter Strike and a heart attack. With my short attention span, I could never play any game for 86 hours straight. Although maybe a handful of games.
cybrid 0 Posted October 14, 2002 The longest I ever stayed up was about 48 hours, That was the night of rememberance day and we had to gaurd the senotaff from vandals. After my shift was up I had a chance to go back to the armory for some sleep, but that was impossible because the floor was concrete and I had nothing but a light sleeping bag. So me and some other cadet "borrowed" a cellphone from sombody and played the snake game for a few hours. Later that morning we had to march in the parade. I was feeling dizzy by the time I got home. And on an unrelated contrased I once slept for 17hours when I was sick last year.

Major Fubar 0 Posted October 14, 2002 I could take the 86 hours gaming, maybe even 86 hours w/o sleep, but not 86 hours without food! When we have our LAN sessions we generally have a break for food (BBQ, Subway, KFC whatever), plus beer, coke, and snacks (nuts, chips) while we play. SFG 1 Posted January 13, 2003 Another man dies... http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories/news/0,10870,2908643,00.html A Hong Kong Internet café was the site of the most recent death connected with long gaming sessions. According to a story in Asahi Shimbun, a 28-year-old man recently died due to unexplained causes after playing Diablo II for six hours. The police suggested that the man was under stress at work and that the long gaming session put him under increased strain. Last October, there were two deaths reported in connection with gaming sessions that lasted more than 24 hours, one in Taiwan, the other in South Korea. bn880 5 Posted January 14, 2003 A cold winter breeze is refreshing to one man, but can be deadly to another. (6h vs 86h) More philosophy from bn880...
OxPecker 0 Posted January 14, 2003 You can hardly blame a game for some people's stupididty and lack of enough common sense to survive. Lets just hope they died before they could contaminate the gene pool with their stupid-genes.
bn880 5 Posted January 14, 2003 Ox, it's not their genes, it's their behaviour. What they learned, and how they use it.
OxPecker 0 Posted January 14, 2003 True BN880, but I think stupidity is a mix of environment and genetic programming. Some people are born stupid, some become stupid, and some are a combination of both. But it is morons like these who contribute to the whole righteous-right push to ban computer games. Tex -USMC- 0 Posted January 14, 2003 Well, following the philosophy I've heard recently, it is society's fault that these guys are stupid enough to subject themselves to deprivation on account of a computer game. It is in no way their fault that they can't exercise sufficient control over their own actions. Maybe, after they are dead, we could put their corpses into a group-oriented, 12 step program that centers on increasing the (deceased) addicted gamer's self-regard; state funded, naturally. Completely different things. [sarcasm]Let's just kill these guys before they get a chance to make a mistake, for being suspected of having no self control.
