Sniperwolf572 758 Posted June 2, 2015 While it's uplifting news that he'll be gone, cutting off one head of the hydra doesn't do much. After all, new president will be elected by the same people, with the same motivations, who elected him a few days ago. Unless things drastically change within the organisation by the time the next elections come about.
Tonci87 163 Posted June 2, 2015 That is a surprise. Maybe someone told him that he is going to be arrested too? Or the sponsors got their act together and put enough pressure on him...
doveman 7 Posted June 3, 2015 oxmox said: "You have U.S. statutes where there are extraterritorial provisions that can reach foreign citizens if they violate certain laws," Tillipman explained. For most of those laws, there has to be "a jurisdictional hook," she explained, an aspect of the crime that took place within the United States' jurisdiction: A phone call that included a person in the United States, for example, or a visit to the country, or, as has happened, an e-mail that passed through a server in the country. "There has to be some sort of touch point for the United States," Tillipman said. It's crazy though. It means if I phone or email someone in the USA or if one of my phonecalls / VOIP calls or emails even passes through there and what I say is perfectly legal in my country but not in the US, or even if the person I'm speaking to / messaging says something that violates some US law and unknowingly I say something that could be seen to be agreeing with / encouraging him (conspiracy) then I'm liable to US justice. So they only safe thing to do is avoid all communication with people in the US, as it's hard enough keeping up with the law in my own country, let alone being expected to know all the intricacies of US law. This seems like something that will only hasten the downfall of the American empire, as people become reluctant to communicate and do business with it. Whatever you think of FIFA, consider the implications before applauding such a state of affairs.

Die Schlagzeilen und Wirren um die Fifa halten an. Die Verhaftung hoher Funktionäre auf Geheiss der US-Justiz war ebenso spektakulär wie der Putschversuch der Uefa. Only downside is the reputation damage with it all coming at the worse time ever :p
oxmox 73 Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) US to Russia: Fifa corruption inquiry has nothing to do with you The US embassy to Russia and the State Department have fended off criticism from Vladimir Putin about corruption charges against officials of Fifa, saying “this investigation has nothing to do with Russiaâ€. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/may/28/us-russia-fifa-corruption-investigation FBI probe how 2018 and 2022 World Cups were awarded to Russia and Qatar The FBI's investigation of FIFA includes a probe of how football’s governing awarded the 2018 World Cup to Russia and the 2022 competition to Qatar http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/fifa-corruption-scandal-fbi-probing-how-2018-and-2022-world-cups-were-awarded-to-russia-and-qatar-says-report-10295597.html Russia, Qatar might lose their World Cups Russia and Qatar could be stripped of their World Cup hosting rights if evidence emerges of bribery in the bidding process, Domenico Scala, the independent chairman of FIFA's audit and compliance committee, told a Swiss newspaper. http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/06/07/us-soccer-fifa-worldcup-idUSKBN0ON0IP20150607 The sold Tournaments (google transl.) Russia and Qatar under suspicion, South Africa and France - almost all World Cup awards in recent decades were fiddled. 1998 France What Chuck Blazer said US courts two years ago, dates back to 1992 , João Havelange was Fifa president. At that time, Fifa decided on the World Cup 1998. Blazer confesses that he allowed himself to lubricate . He accuses others of corruption, but whose names are not public. "I have made myself guilty of at least two occasions of criminal acts", is in the log. He took the money out of Morocco. The winner is France, which was to be world champion in the home country. 2006 Germany Shortly before, had become active, especially in areas where members of the FIFA Executive Committee were living a Germany AG from politics and business. Daimler has invested hundreds of millions of euros in Hyundai, a son of Hyundai founder sat on the Executive Committee of FIFA. Volkswagen and Bayer AG promised to invest heavily in Thailand and South Korea. The government of Gerhard Schröder decided to supply RPGs to Saudi Arabia a week before the World Cup award. Germany had "short the arms embargo is lifted," Guido Tognoni said, then Fifa employees later. The late media entrepreneur Leo Kirch bought for millions Mark worthless TV rights for friendlies Bayern Munich. Beckenbauer was then president of the association. A company Kirch over the pointed Thais FIFA member Morawi Makudi, a high amount . Makudi chose Germany. When he was in Berlin addressed at a press conference of the Women's World Cup 2011 on Blatter broke themselves from the event. 2010 South Africa He admitted to have been part of a global conspiracy. Accordingly, South Africa has bought the World Cup. From 2004 to 2011 huge sums should have been paid in different ways in the pockets and on the accounts of FIFA's hoodlums. A transfer of ten million euros is said to have made in Zurich, the FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke. He denies to have been there. Even South Africa's sports minister has denied bribery, but he did so in front of the Blazer leaks. 2014 Brazil 2007 Brazil was the only candidate, because in this time Fifa followed the principle of rotation of continents. The South Americans, which were their turn, agreed on Brazil. Bad for Fifa, they could earn nothing. Fifa did not make the error twice. They did remove the principle of rotation. 2018 Russia Russia's application was, as Qatar, awarded by the Technical Commission at the greatest risk. This makes suspicious. But there is also evidence of deals in the background: The Cypriot entrepreneur Mario Lefkaritis chose with, even though he does business with Gazprom. For whom Franz Beckenbauer agreed, no one knows. We know only that he was a half a year after his departure from the Fifa, sports ambassador for Gazprom. The Russia-WM is a political issue. Some consider the actions of the American justice against FIFA for a further indication of the alleged conspiracy of the West against Putin. Russia is a tough nut. The Russians tried during the Cold War, have good people in Trace Destructor Wipe, much better than Qatar. 2022 Qatar he decision for the fiery furnace Qatar is absurd. But there is also evidence of graft and graft. Lefkaritis has sold a seven hectare small Cypriot headland for a lot of money Qatar. Michel Platini, whose son now works for Qatar, has admitted to being a Qatari voters. The former employee of the Qatari candidacy, Phaedra Almajid, accused three former and current Fifa members from Africa, have sold their votes for each 1.5 million to Qatar. The rich Qatari Mohamed Bin Hammam, Blatter's former election officials, should have paid around five million dollars to African officials , so that they choose Qatar. Also in the Caribbean, he is said to have fished for votes. Qatar defends himself and says Bin Hammam had merely made the election campaign itself. He wanted to compete against Blatter in 2011. After Blatter's resignation announcement, the World Cup in Qatar is more than ever in question. He had protected Qatar, writes the British journalist Heidi Blake because Bin Hammam was not taken up on Blatter's insistence against him. This should be the agreement that still applies today. Maybe think the Qataris that they have kept only by the rules. Since it can not be contradicted. Like the look, said one witness years ago in the process over the former marketing agency ISL: "Grease is as if you have to pay salary otherwise is no longer working.." Die Zeit - google transl.
