Batstat 10 Posted September 26, 2002 1) We are from 24 to 32 peoples that meets 6 to 8 times a year to play OFP MP. We don't play quake alike or death match types of game. Up until now we usually consist of 15 to 25% newcomer every time. We use 15 minuttes before the match (30 min) and 15 min afterwards for debriefing. Planning and evaluating is equally fun versus playing the game (my opinion) We need good missions for 32 player or up, where the strategy and planning is important to win the game. Leave out the cut scenes and user made addons. Personally I don’t understand why variously user group rank cinematic as a plus’s factor. It’s nice the first time only. 2) Is there a roundup when it comes to socket or direct play when you are 32 or more players on Lan. Last time (last in may) we played with 1,49 beta as standalone server. To the next event we all have bought Restiance. But as I have understood people have various experience with sockets when over 20 ppl. Is this correct. I don’t whish to experiment when there is so lot on stake. Last question. Many aspect with cfg etc is coverd when it comes to internet MP. But ther is near NIL info when it comes to LAN configuraton. I understand OFP default values is based on internet games. Has anyone made a script or something to convert these values to LAN? If so I’m eager to get my hand on this. I hope I don’t ask to much.
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted September 26, 2002 I can only answer your last question. OFP lan is stable for 64 players with its default configuration. When the data is going over lan its not really important how the seetins are (just dont set it to low, so OFP wont use all the bandwith available). With sockets on lan, you are safe, dont worry
Lt_Damage 0 Posted September 27, 2002 Most missions I design are 32 player missions. You will find all the missions I've finished to date at WOLF's Website Simply look under WOLF's missions and you'll find everything I've made to date. Regards,
hugo2020 0 Posted September 27, 2002 Here are some missions, but most have max 20 ppl http://www.ofp-cup.de/maps/cup_maps.zip ....briefing is in german
Lt_Damage 0 Posted October 1, 2002 Could you redo some english versions? Or if you send me the english versions of each briefing and I can do it. I think it is a shame good missions do not get played because players do not understand what to do.
hugo2020 0 Posted October 2, 2002 Hi, the missions from www.ofp-cup.de will be availible with englisch briefing soon.
Lt_Damage 0 Posted October 2, 2002 Thanks, much appreciated. I am slowly working my way through all 317 of Gameplanet's Multiplayer mission stockpile, so far Desert and Everon have been put up on the WOLF website. Thats 140+ missions between just those two Islands. Once I've finished Malden, Kolgujev and Nogova there'll be well over 300 missions with descriptions and screenshots in one place. With another 40+ already there that are custom designed by myself. So all up we are looking at a few hundred or so coops, dm and ctf/ch type missions. Lt. Dammage - how about compiling all your missions in one big archive for download? Don't like to download 41+ missions one by one... Support the lazy! Lt_Damage 0 Posted October 3, 2002 I hear you lazy people!! We will rise and conquer the motivated!!!!! ... when we get around to it. I was thinking about that, I probably will, I'll ask GP if I can use that much space, should be ok. PROGRESS UPDATE: So far I have uploaded all of Gameplanet 300+ missions to the WOLF webspace, I have finished the pages for DESERT, EVERON, MALDEN, KOLGUJEV with only NOGOVA left to finish. Meaning you can download about 250+ of the 317 missions. I have finished most of the pages, except for screenshots which I'll do on the weekend. Lt_Damage 0 Posted October 3, 2002 FINALLY DONE! I have finished the mission pages for all Islands. If you go to the [WOLF] Mission Selection and choose Gameplanet Missions you will be able to download all of Gameplanet's 313 Multiplayer missions. [screenshots to be done on the weekend] Obviously you will always find the latest missions on the Gameplanet server itself, we have new missions coming in every day. Why do we experience lag when playing with LAN and standaloneserver (resistance_server) if the settings doesnt matter(as according to one of the previous posts)? We tried with only 2 computers, one 1.8 GHz and one 700MHz and server on the 1.8GHz. The 700'ed was choppy and slow even though the pingtime was low. If we put up a dedicated server on a win2k machine as a service, what can we do to improve performance? /Peter
Lt_Damage 0 Posted October 7, 2002 I would of thought you would realise the answer as you typed. 700Mhz is experiencing CPU lag, not network lag. The CPU cannot handle the mission aswell as the other more powerful PCs. Your choices are lowering the visual detail on the 700mhz, choosing a more simple mission with less AI, getting a better computer. 700Mhz is MINIMUM requirements, so don't expect more than MINIMUM performance.
peose 0 Posted October 8, 2002 It doesn't lag if I play it locally on the 700MHz (and yes the visual quality is really set to a minimum) /P
Lt_Damage 0 Posted October 9, 2002 I very much doubt it will be network lag. When you play it locally do you have all AI enabled? You will want to do tests with exactly what conditions it runs good under, and use the same settings for Multiplay. Test the connection to the 700mhz machine, if the ping is good for LAN (less than 10ms) and no packets are lost then this is the speed OFP will use.
Harbinger-TG- 0 Posted October 9, 2002 Wow nice map package Lt. Just wondering if they are stock or addons. Â Or is it just a whole bunch of unsorted maps? Anyone got reccomendations on these?
