ran 0 Posted September 25, 2002 if yes , what do you think about the book and is it worth buying ?
Badgerboy 0 Posted September 25, 2002 Is this a new book in the 'Ryan/Clark' universe? I've read the entire series, but I stear clear of the 'Op Centre' crap. If its a new book, I may go and buy a copy.
ran 0 Posted September 25, 2002 i think it'snew , and yes jack ryan is in it but it's about before he became the head of the cia i think it takes place like 20 years ago or so ..... anyway , go on amazon
Mister Frag 0 Posted September 25, 2002 I agree completely with Badgerboy, I can't stand the co-written nonsense. I also got tired of the current Jack Ryan character. I liked him a lot more (and found him much more believable) before he became President and saved the world. As far as I am concerned, Clancy ruined a perfectly good character he had carefully developed through the years. At least we still have Clark and Chavez... ran 0 Posted September 25, 2002 red rabbit is about ryan before he became head of cia and then president of the USA could be interesting
Guest Posted September 25, 2002 I was about to post an identical topic the other day As far as I understand from the reviews at amazon.com, it sucks big time. I was to a bookshop yesterday, but I decided not to buy it. I'll wait for it to come in pocket format. Instead I bought an interesting book called "Why do people hate America?" and I'm happy that I didn't buy the Clancy
Die Alive 0 Posted September 25, 2002 I too bought a book yesterday, English as a Second F*cking Language. Â This book is so full of f*cking shit. Â It's so f*cking stupid, I mean, it tells me abso-f*cking-lutely nothing useful. Â The author is a f*cking a**hole, and is a waste of f*cking money. I think Tom Clancy's best works are behind him, he's probably just writing books so he could complete the obligations to his huge book deal he probably has. -=Die Alive=-

DarkLight 0 Posted September 25, 2002 Sheesh, sorry that i'm trying to have some fun on these forums..... If a person can get banned for that i'll be gone faster than i'd ever expect... Oh well
billytran 0 Posted September 25, 2002 I've read the new Clancy book, Red Rabbit. I thought it was pretty good but didn't like the way it ended. I won't spoilt it for you though. I'd recommend it. BTW, Jack Ryan never became head of the CIA, he became President of the USA.

Long version: read the book It's wirtten by an American and a Brit so it's not America bashing, but a sober realistic view on the political and cultural realities. It also explains how there is a great lack of understanding of what grave consequences US involvement in the world has for other countries. Anyway, a good read. I would recommend it
Jester983 0 Posted September 25, 2002 Nope cant say that ive read it. The only clancy book ive ever read is Rainbow 6. Personally Id like to see sort of a sequel to R6. Or just something with clark and chavez. Yes I know they are in other books but thats not many. Clear and Present danger is the only one i can think of. Sounds like you have the English language down to a tee already . Jack Ryan is a good character, but I'd much rather see Clancy wright a sequal to Rainbow Six, or at least a Clarke/Chavez story. Tex -USMC- 0 Posted September 26, 2002 Clark rules. Ive been reading Cardinal of the Kremlin, and the book gets really good exactly when he enters the plot. Coincidence? I think not
Jester983 0 Posted September 26, 2002 Anyone heard about the next book with clark/chavez in it? Or is there going to be one?
Col. Kurtz 0 Posted September 26, 2002 Cardinal of the Kremlin was the only Clancy book I really liked, becuase it was not full of Americans doing herioc things and saving the world. Red Rabbit wasn't even written by Clancy, it was done by someone else, he judt comes up with the story line. Clancy has fallen into a repetitive line of coming up with books were some guy from America saves the day at the last moment.
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted September 26, 2002 ahh fuck it, I like his books as trash reading, to be taken in the same vein as a Rambo movie or something like that. To expect any more is just asking for dissapointment.
Anmac 0 Posted September 26, 2002 Is it just me or did Clancy forget the order of his books. Inside the front cover it's saying the book is set BEFORE Hunt for Red October, but it's REALLY set AFTER Patriot Games. And as for Sum of All Fears movie, OMG, what was he on when he produced that? It's set after C&P Danger. But Ryan isn't even married yet, hasn't met Clark before and is 25 years younger. And they set it in the present day. Ripped off.
