woman=1; config parameter

Recommended Posts

How about implementing advanced woman=1; config parameter possibility into Arma 3 ?

Basically, if e.g. B_W_Soldier_F has that parameter included in config, then she (a female soldier) will be restricted to uniforms with that woman=1; parameter, while she will not be in able to wear uniforms for men (woman which would not be restricted to female uniform models would have ugly visual problems such as body transforming into a man after she takes a male uniform - it includes a whole body and face model - A BIG problems). Or even better: you can create a full female integration which would be the best, and the community would have no need to create it's own (buggy) mods with hard times doing so.

I mean, you can just use Arma2 female heads and do something with it. On example: you could just enable us to switch between head models (not only faces/textures) on all the uniforms, making it not depend on what is defined in a model itself (default proxy is: A3\Character_F\Heads\Bysta.p3d). Or: if B_W_Soldier_F has defined woman=1; in her config, then default Arma3 uniforms will switch from default head proxy to female head proxy as woman is wearing it ... she kills a man, takes his uniform, and that uniform's head proxy will be replaced with female one immideately when it shows up on her. It is simple and it would work.

Any better ideas ? And are you, in the name of God, going to give us the better military authenticy with integration of women or not ? There are some who does not support that integration, but these obviously are pretending to be a gentleman or whatever (these are just 3D models with textures and animations, not a real women ...) ... It is a fact that there are many women serving in the military worldwide and there is no discussion about it.

Bis attitude regarding female is that they belong in the kitchen and not in the military.

Gender or Sex would be a better parameter.

Sex = 0; // Man

Sex = 1; // Woman

Sex = 2; // Transvestite ;p

But seriously.. dont think we will see this. Bis has its recources streched as is.

Hehe..

Dont give people weird ideas now.

People who are "non-heterosexual" might start to demand such a config entry.

Based on that its rasisme not to include them :p

lol!

(...) That thing I have mentioned (proxy switch) would not take them alot of time to complete - and that basically would be a simplest way to integrate women in Arma 3 engine. You would have no need to create new uniform models and similar, but only a new female head model (or use one from A2) and face textures which would appear if woman=1; parameter is present in unit's config, instead of a male one.

Sexuality is not the same as gender. You can't tell a gay from a straight person, but you sure as heck can tell a biological male from a female. I mean, TkoH had full voice sets for females, including combat callouts. It even assigned females in combat roles (without assigning female heads, interestingly, so things were weird.).

A simple solution like this would be step in the right direction.

Not always... not always... :j:

But yeah I think that was a major setback the non inclusion of females in Arma 3 ( you could find females in OFP and A2 ).

Nice suggestion, I support the idea!

Agreed. Also kinda ironic that in Greek mythology, when Jason and the Argonauts landed on Lemnos, they found the entire population was exclusively female (them having previously murdered all the men - maybe there's a particularly brutal side to the Altis Civil War that mirrors that...)

Let's not forget, there weren't any women in OFP until Resistance came along. That's a moot point, and after ArmA2 their disappearance is totally a step back, but I've got high hopes for the "civilian investment" in the Expansion. It's not a standalone, so I'm confident they'll address the missing women of Altis and Stratis as well as introducing them for the new terrain.

Or I could be horribly wrong...

...I am shamed! :(

Though, in my defence, you did have to employ scripts or mods if you wanted her to appear outside an official campaign mission.

I think...

Thinking about it - women missing from Sahrani too - apart from the reporter. You could play as her as well, if you could put up with the nightmare fuel hands that appeared when you tried to move her about. So yeah, BIS nailed it with ArmA 2. Either it was simply too much for them to replicate that level, or they've left us all very much spoilt...

:p

Now that is the kind of story we want to hear. ;)

It seems like BI had more ambition with ArmA2. With ArmA3 they seemed to go the 'less but polished' route, and apparently women didn't fit into that vision. I think it is a shame, immersion took a big hit. (Not just from a lack of women)

I wouldn't say that BIS nailed it with Arma 2, since women in that game were missing animations for holding weapons.

And for driving cars, which gave us many hilarious jokes. But yeah... Still better than sausage-party island though.
