I don't mean to be that guy and take away from your work, however this looks like nothing more than another generic reskin to me. Certainly not a 'unit addon pack' as no units are provided...

It's ok to be that guy, I figured I would need to give more clarification. It is a reskin but by no means is it generic. Also units are provided. There is a full faction that can be seen in the editor. The units are named after USMC MOS's.

Please could you do more helmet types, as I think thats what could differentiated yours from others is having realistic and varied helmets (Ones with googles, helmet cams, Netting/scrim) such as the different ones you can see here:

hires_081122-M-6159T-008.jpg

As I find other USMC mods lack variation in helmets, and so more could be added for more realism and variation like how RHS has numerous versions of helmets as well

I am working on including those type of helmets and their variations. The current helmet is placeholder until the others come.

Congratulations Mattastic on your first released addon.

Due to your description and claims i would like to add some constructive criticism that i have noticed on your addon. With your claim to offer a professional solution i think these point are more then valid.

- Your Camo patterns stretch across all surfaces without any type of breakup on seams or pockets.

- None of the Maps have been adjusted to the _co texture so the Kneepads and Elbow pads still appear as Polymer material while having the different patterns placed on them.

- Any type of fabric visualisation is apperently abscent on the _co texture

- No stitches are visible

- No USMC Logo was found on the pattern while investigating ingame

Overall i can see why people would mark this as a generic reskin, even though there has been a lot of work put into the overall functionality the textures are, at there current state, no where near the claim you have put out.

Yes your textures are "clean" but to the point where not only dirty and weathering has been removed, but any detail of the fabric was erased with a giant repeating MARPAT pattern.

Please do not take this post the wrong way, i know that such criticism can look like a bash or plainly dishonoring the work you put in, but that is not the case on my end.

As i read in your messages, you are looking for something more then the average reskin and look to deliver something better and "done right", that is why i am offering up some guidelines.

I have gotten similar advice and have already started on implementing changes suggested. The camo patterns are being reworked to be different in some minor ways for ever piece of the uniform. The "fabric visualization" as you call it is in most cases way overdone. Military uniforms, especially the USMC Combat Utility Uniforms are not made from 100% cotton therefore they do not and should not show a high level of fabric-ization. Still, I appreciate you opinion and will try to improve it. In the pattern itself there are small eagle globe and anchors. If you did not find them then you did not look close enough. As far as no stitches....machine stitched uniforms such as the USMCs do not show stitches. If you show stitches or anything like that it means you need to go buy a new uniform. The material file for the uniform does need work like you said. I am a bit inexperienced when it comes to doing material manipulations but am currently getting around that curve and learning to do it. I love criticism like you have given and am really looking for more of it and advice on how to improve the mod.

Looks nice. If I may though, black gloves on Preview 1 seem a bit out of place. Could you retexture them to sand pattern? Woodland gloves fit very good.

Taken into consideration, look for updates to gloves and boots on the next update release.

...hopefully a MATV with a proper turrent instead of that awful CROWS.

That would be a cool thing to have, but as far as I know that is next to impossible. The "Hunter" .p3d files are binarized there for encrypted. I'm pretty sure that the manipulation/alteration of these files is a big NO NO. If in the future Bohemia Interactive decides to release those files in an unbinarized format to their sample packs for Arma III, only then could it be possible. I'm sure when that day comes you will see what your wanting along with loads of other new modifications.

Maybe see if this guy would let you port over the MATV from here?

http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=12840

Its the best fitting vehicled for current and near future Marines...........yet we're stuck with these damn CROWS turrets.

Looking good anyway. Once you get rid of those silly knee pad (I think you said you're gonna re-texture) I'm grabbing them for sure. Really been waiting for a USMC mod that just goes that extra little bit.

Those are nice indeed, I may see what I can do with that. Yes I am still doing updates to the textures, to include material alteration of knee and elbow pads.

Update Inbound! To include revamped textures on uniforms, helmets. Adding more NATO Uniform variations, adding AAF uniform MARPAT variants, soft covers to include Boonies, Patrol Cap, Baseball Cap, (still working on getting an 8 Point), 3 types of backpacks in both MARPAT patterns, another plate carrier variant, and all the UI to go with everything. Along with the new content, adjustments will be made in the config to update placeable editor units with all new weapons and gear. The holidays have taken up some time, but please be patient the update is coming very soon.

In one of the posts above you said that you'll remove those damned, crye-ish built-inn knee-pads. Or did I misunderstand that?

I am working on that, I am also adding a complete set of the AAF type uniforms to help offer a solution to the problem. At least the AAF types will come next update, maybe the material alterations to the knee pads and elbow pads. The shape of the knee pads and elbow pads will remain due to the inability to manipulate the model, but at least we can make them non reflective. Also, proper MICH helmets and 8 Point covers are being contributed by Massi. Next update will be the biggest yet, outside of the initial release.
