So now that you all have pistols...

Recommended Posts

So you lucky guys who actually have Resistance now can use pistols, eh??? tounge.gif

There was alot of debate all over the place about how pistols should or should not have been included ingame. Now that they are here, what do you think about them?

Ive said:

I actually prefer them over other weapons.

Because they are new weapons(that arent so powerful) and I like new things, so i like to use them more ...

Close Combat

Although killing a SpetNaz guy with a headshot at around 100 yards outside my house with the pistol felt rather nice smile.gif

Hmm, never biggrin.gif

As long as i don´t run out of bullets for the main weapon, i don´t need it.

The way the pistol is held looks hmm, shall we say inappropriate, while it fires tracer ammo for an unknown reason confused.gif

When I have a Dragunov, then I switch to handgun when entering a village, so CQB. However, I think I never shot it once smile.gif

I voted for ' I don't like ' simply cause I've never been close enough yet to feel safe with a pistol. May happen yet but I can't imagine much use in the Flashpoint world.

Still think they're done well though.

I thought it was useless until I found that using a Dragu at short distance is very ammo consuming smile.gif WhoCares is perfectly right, Dragu + Handgun is an excellent combo.

Problem is that I completely forgot I had a handgun when some Russkies where coming to me... Have to get the reflex wink.gif

does this mean that soldiers can carry handguns in the 1985 campaigns and in red hammer?

Tracer ammo?

Have you tried turning off tracers in the difficulty settings?  I know that gets rid of the unrealistic tracers for the wrifles.  See this section of the FAQ: The Avon Lady's OFP FAQ

P.S. Wow, that was my first ever shameless plug for the FAQ, I feel special biggrin.gif

I suppose they could carry them, but there are none in it if BIS hasn't changed the old missions.

I think when there would be a "quickchangetopistolbutton" i would use pistols more often.

In the moment i find it much to difficult to get my pistol ready when the riflemagazine went empty. reloding the rifle seems to me quicker and more secure.

Choosing pistols over the actionmenu could be frustrating, when all the enemys are closing in and in hectic you get the RPG ready instead of the pistol.

Did the glock 17 exist in the early 80's or is it another screw up like the G36 in Red Hammer? Having modern weapons is great for custom missions, but seeing american soldiers with G36's in Red Hammer sucked...

Glock AG of Deutsch-Wagram was a company known for making entrenching tools and knives. In 1983 they surprised the world by winning a contract to provide the Austrian army with 25,000 guns (Glock 17) -- especially since Glock had never made a pistol before. <span id='postcolor'>

It's all ok wink.gif

I love the pistols. I use the policeman, jump on the bike then go for long police chases over Nogova chasing other bikes and cars then when the occupants step off their vehicle, I nail them in the head with my Glock a few times. Fun.

When you go into the editor in Res, are the villages inhabited (cars driving around in raods and stuff)?

that would suck, but i almost never run out of ammo during a mission. perhaps they will make a upgrade that'll include combat knives? and maybe a big ass machette that you can use to lop a few heads off. muhahahahahahaha that'll be cool. did they finally include something that that civilian tractor will tow? like a mower deck or perhaps some plowing equipment?
