(SMA) Specialist Military Arms

Hello everyone

I am going to release a V1.9 before V2 with all the updates to the current weapons in V1. All new audio for all weapons new updated textures new variants of some of the weapons and a ton of fixes.

Also i am contemplating separating the SMA Units and the showcase mission into a separate mod\PBO so that SMA is solely a weapons pack and if you want the units or showcase mission you can download them on their own. This should make it easier for others to utilize SMA as a requirement mod.

Nearly done 1.9 just a few small changes to do prior to release.

looking forward to it and can not wait to let you guys get your hands on it.

I can't wait to try it out! Looking forward to hearing the new sounds :)

I'm not sure if you didn't see my suggestion posted a while back, or if you just ignored it, but I'll just post it again and pretend like you missed it just to make sure:

I would love to see an HK417 Sniper/Marksman version (20" barrel, bipod and this stock)

Again, just a suggestion. I have a few good reference pictures, like this and this.

Hello, not sure whether it was suggested before, but if You can, can You add support for vanilla game's magazines (and possibly, made them "default" ones? So far it looks like all would have to be done is putting the said mag on the start of the magazines line-up)? The unification between mods sucks as of now and editing most addons configs so You can load 416 and M4 (and M4's from different addons) with same mags every update is pretty tiresome (yes, I know it's not as tiresome as creating addons, but You know... we could use the same time for doing our own stuff like missions or even addons too, yeah).

So if You'd be so nice...

Also, am I the only one who think's 416's standard ironsights are a bit too thin? Hard too see the front post clearly (at least on low-medium gfx settings, mind these doesn't mean "blurry" ones as in wrong ratio or no sharpen filter) with no zoom. Any chance for making it a bit more visible \ thick or a version with Magpul's flip-up sights, like the ones on lovely Aadvarkb's Mk 18's?

(also, if I haven't said it yet - the pack is great and many thanks for it. Filled one of the most hurtful blanks - a properly executed H&K 416 addon.)

Hey yea i did see your post and id love to but we would need to remodel the 417 front end to get that exact rifle as it has an extended section, the Barrel and bi pod are not an issue . To be honest for the sake of not being held up with our V2 progress for now it is not a priority. It is possible for us to do but we would probably consider it after V3 is complete. I appreciate your enthusiasm for weapons as i share it , we have quite an array of weapons to complete ATM so doing every different variant of each gun would be doubling the work. So i am trying to select carefully which ones to incorporate. Thanks though :D

Ok so the Ammo argument ... why people enjoy ARMA ballistics is beyond me, BUT.. since ive had soo many requests for this i will add a PBO that can set the Ammunition to Vanilla ARMA3 . V2..:confused:

Now the HK416 sights ? ive never had a complaint about this so far but i might try adjusting some things to help with this.

Just a suggestion,all the optics in SMA mod are now 3D version,but I know someone is more comfortable with 2D optics.Maybe you can make a 2D version for your optics after V2 release just like what RH do in his weapon packs,but this is all up to you guys.For myself,I like 3D optics better.

No worries! Obviously it's your mod and your time, I just wanted to see if there was a possibility of you ever doing the 417M. Take your time with the new updates which I'm sure we're all looking forward to here :D

Just want to thank everyone that's involved in this awesome mod. Thanks for all your hard work and devotion...it shows! We're all having a blast with this. I really hope this team will keep on pushing limits and releasing new stuff for the future.

Yeah you know what BlazenChamber, your team is slow, no thanks to that guy pointing out texture issues and making you write all that extra ballistics code :P

On a serious note thanks for supporting my ballistics research and helping make ArmA a much better virtual battlespace, looking forward to the new update and of course v2.0 down the road.

that weapon might only be in v2 which is abit further away. v1.9 will be released soon with an upgrade to hk416 and 7s...

that's my understanding of it anyway

Thanks for the patience and support so far with this project from other modders and also the community. We will be updating very soon just trying to finish off the last few things to get it up to standard for V1.9.

V2 will follow not too long after.

Hands down my favorite gun mod. Even most of the sounds are good enough when used with DragonFyre which is a splendid fit. Can't wait.

Sorry to ask, but does very soon likely mean a couple of days or a couple of weeks?

I know ppl get cut when we ask for release dates, but im about to update all our clans mods which is only once every 3 months. And we would love to include v1.9 in them...

If I remember correctly LordJarhead assisted the SMA team regarding sounds so it should be quite compatible with his sound mods. I am also working very closely with the SMA team regarding ballistics in a few of their new releases in v2.0 to ensure accurate CUSTOM ballistics. This code will not be made available on my public works and will only be used on the SMA pack and other packs to which the SMA team and I agree can use it. This is not to "punish" the community, I just want some mods to have custom accurate ballistics and I love the work that HLC, SMA, RHard, RH.... do which is why I have offered special custom ballistics for certain weapons, and I also HAND WRITE the ballistics into their mod myself in these "special" circumstances.

I understand your absolute love for the work Ruthberg does, but here is a fun fact for you, he and I SHARE BALLISTICS DATA. Not everyone wants to use or incorporate his mod into their packs, just for the same reason I can't stop customers at my work place from buying crap ammunition, its not up to me to force them and I will NOT force anyone to use anything. The reason why I still work on improving BIS default ballistics is that some people just want the new guns and they want them to work right without having to worry about mod conflicts and constant updates every day and adding more mods to their mod list. This is why Ruthberg and I work cooperatively in this manner, his mod is excellent, it beats the old ACE stuff by far, and I share my ballistics data with him to ensure proper penetration and hit values (and yes these HAVE to be calculated using BIS's method, as we are still talking about ArmA and NOT RL).
