circassian 1 Posted July 18, 2014 Hi Guys, I'm an old player of OFP since it was started.. Finally I have now a good machine that supports Arma 3.. Question: I've the Alpha Version. How can I upgrade? Is it like OFP just to install the new version and mods or every version is independent? And what about the addons? Just put them in the addons folder? Thanks
mistyronin 1181 Posted July 18, 2014 Technically you can't have the Alpha version, because the game requires Steam to be played, and it updates automatically ( unless you have deactivated it ). In case you have them deactivated, just activate it, and voila, you'll have the last version of Arma 3 with the free DLC installed! It will check for updates every day. About the addons, affirmative, you can just drop them in the root folder, but I suggest you to create a Mods folder inside the root and drop them there. I dare to say that this Arma, is the more similar to OFP, so you shouldn't have much issues.

Jona33 51 Posted July 19, 2014 In steam click on Games (On the bar at the top) then View Games Library, right click on ARMA 3, then select Properties, from there a new panel should open, click on updates and then select "Always keep this game up to date." As for mods, look on Armaholic, or install PlayWithSix or look in the steam workshop.
circassian 1 Posted July 19, 2014 Thanks Jona but trust me, I've a problem with steam it self.. I can't find it anywhere :p
St. Jimmy 272 Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) Steam is its own application so it have own folders. Default install of Steam is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam or C:\Program Files\Steam There you should find Steam.exe if you can't find anywhere else. Though I wonder how you've missed that if you've found the game files? Edited July 19, 2014 by St. Jimmy

Jona33 51 Posted July 19, 2014 Thanks Jona but trust me, I've a problem with steam it self.. I can't find it anywhere :p As in you can't see ARMA III in your games library? If so could it be you had an "Alpha lite", i.e. someone gave you an invite that allowed you to play the Alpha but they stopped working after the alpha? papanowel 120 Posted July 20, 2014 OK Guys.. You got me.. Yes I got the game from torrent.. I guess steam won't be applicable.. Don't even post here then, it's clearly against the forum rules. If you really want to play it, just buy it, it's not that much (it has been on sale many times since the game was released).
