Damian90 697 Posted August 2, 2014 Yeah, well, actually it would be good to have capability to have some sort of levels how much you can get out of a hatch. For example in combat situations commander if he have opened hatch, he can only stick out his head, so heady is low, difficult to spot and hit. Also some tanks, can have commander hatch in so called open protected position, or "umbrella" position, so TC head is protected from the top, however none of the vanilla vehicles have such capability. xendance 3 Posted August 2, 2014 Ask any tank commander, read any tank commander biography or books about tank operations, for instance one of the trending topics these last years are the books and autobiographies about the Thunder Run that took Baghdad in '03. I never saw any tank commanders commanding their tanks unbuttoned when in combat. This was in the finnish defense forces.
mistyronin 1181 Posted August 2, 2014 I never saw any tank commanders commanding their tanks unbuttoned when in combat. This was in the finnish defense forces. I don't know in the FDF, but I worked with different NATO armies and could see my share for myself. But in any case as I told you there is lot of "literature" about it. And if you don't believe me just check the casualties reports in the Iraq war for example. Why most injured/dead commanders got hit by small weapons in the neck or head in the middle of the battle... In fact in some instances they even used their own M4s due to problems with the MGs. x3kj 1247 Posted August 3, 2014 many problems you mention are not related to physx, but more controll and AI issues. However there are some bad errors that makes driving tanks unsatisfying/annoying. Here is a ticket for erratic behaviour on turning, with proposed solution: http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=20078 please vote on the issues. Bee8190 10 Posted August 11, 2014 Ok I appreciate the devs have a lot of work on their plate now, mainly due to the excellent addition of rotorLib but what concerns me is that there haven't been any updates on physx / driving model in a very long time and the same can be said about any communication from devs about the physx status. I'm confident the DEV's are not done with physx / vehicles yet but can somebody enlighten the vehicle enthusiast as to what the road map might be or what's the status on this?
