What REALLY scares me is how you came up with this particular list of colors off the top of your head. Please tell me you copied it from somewhere on the 'net! smile.gif

Very true, America for all it's faults does not intentionally kill innocents. Accidental deaths as part of a war have nothing to do with the justness of the war.<span id='postcolor'>

What are accidental deaths? If you carpet bomb a city, are the civilians killed there 'accidental' deaths?

In Ex-Yugoslavia it was made very clear what you could be prosecuted for. According to the Hague, if you know that there is a high possibility of civilian deaths and still proceed then they can charge you.

Case example: Knin in Croatia. It was the centre of the "Croatian Serb Republic" between 91-95 - both military and political. During "Operation Strom" in 95 when the Croatian military took back the territory, Knin was attacked with artillery and from the air. It resulted in between 20-50 civilian casulties (depending on the source).

Now the facts are:

1) Knin was a military center

2) Knin was a civillian center

The Hague decided that it was some form of a war crime (don't remember which) and now a couple of Croatian generals are locked up awaiting trial.

(I personally consider this to be very absurd, especially when you consider the mess that NATO did in Kosovo - and nobody was tried for that)

Irresponsibility is also wrong, but needs must in war.

<span id='postcolor'>

Well, I don't recall the Americans carpet bombing any cities in Afghanistan. I get your point though.

What do I call an accidental death? I call it that when a precision guided bomb malfunctions and hits a red cross centre, from the talk of some people, they seemed to think that the yanks bombed it intentionally.

I think they need to work on that JDAM technology a bit more. Sure, it costs less, but JDAMs were involved in one or two of the friendly fire and civilian death incidents

I believe the FF incidents were errors by the people on the ground. The JDAMs worked great, far as I have heard.

Yes, at least one of the friendly-fire incidents involving JDAMs were the result of human error where incorrect targetting data was input.

I noticed that as well. I wonder what they were thinking, it must have been pretty obvious to them what they were looking at.

Hmh... they should have left most of the slideshow pics off and let those video clips play on normal speed instead of accelerated like now, looks kindof stupid.

Yeah. The guy changed the battery in the GPS and it reset the targetting waypoint to his location. then the buff's dropped on his location instead of onto the bad guys.

FUBAR.

Im no expert on the US Military, but I believe that the US Military does has some Hinds for OPFOR purposes. They also brought up a few MiG-29's the other year to prevent Iran from doing so smile.gif

You will also notice that the clip is not all about America. Its mainly America, but its got the it says at the front America and Allies. You may also notice a British harrier somewere in the film clip.

The United States owns many "threat" aircraft and systems to test against. There are numerous published instances of this:

NAICs MIG-29s

NAICs MIG-15

NAICs MIG-21

US owned Hind simulates attack

I myself have visited, sat in, and even driven a few FSU systems. Many of which are even in Flashpoint!

Also, Germany 'inherited' some MIG 29's after the firesale of what used to be East Germany, and flew US-made and Soviet fighters side-by-side for a while, and I'm not sure what the current disposition of those aircraft are. I believe they were to be phased out because of the cost involved in getting the avionics and weapon systems brought into compliance with NATO standards.

Yea, Fulcrum A's, they are the only NATO country to use the Fulcrum as a front line fighter I think. In Lock On:Modern Air Combat you will be able to fly Fulcrums in German markings smile.gif

I shudder when I hear the words 'that was pretty cool' and 'nuke footage' in the same sentence.  When I watch clips like these, I am reminded of what destructive power is out there... and just how horrific it will be if that power is ever used in anger again.

This is a link to the video that Aculaud spoke of.  There is some multimedia there, including shots of the firing of 'The Atomic Cannon' What the hell were they THINKING?confused.gif?<span id='postcolor'>

i realize too the effect that where ever it was tested, there will be 50 years of highly contaminated status and another thousand generations of being radioactive. But in all this a see that it may look good. Not that it is my opinion but just a demonstration. I don't want to go into politics so i will not comment on this;</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">power is ever used in anger again.<span id='postcolor'> confused.gif
