After a long development time, I can eventually release my new project: War Storm

War Storm is a dynamic mission for 50 players, its target being the capture of the whole Altis island.

This mission cointains several features.

Mission progress (conquered towns, vehicle status, players' position and equipment, FOB and build-ups) can be saved on a dedicated server.

That can happen in two ways:

- Saving data in a .ini file with the mod in iniDB by SicSemperTyrannis (modified @iniDB)

- Saving data on the profile of the dedicated server (it doesn't work if server is shut down and rebooted).

It's a BIS bug, you can vote at http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=14725

Headless Client is support, you can activate it by param.

When returning to the game, you can move to your last saved position with your former gear.

The number of enemies is always proportioned to the number of players and random patrols are present (they can be activated/deactivated/modified in number from mission parameters panel)

At the present time the activation range of each town is about 800 meters; air units do not active enemies because of performance reasons.

The =BTC= Revive script is included and you can choose any option among Standard, Advanced or Lite.

Logistics

Logistics play a very important role in this mission.

Thanks to =BTC= Logistic all boxes and strongpoints can be loaded on vehicles or lifted.

A logistic point is available in base, marked by a cross. Here you can create vehicles, ammo boxes and strongpoints for loading in vehicles. Once on the ground, items can be moved with ingame controls which give refined movement on x,y or z axis and rotation. That allows you to create FOBs for forward respawn points (to move there, from the flag pole in main base select “respawn dialog†and then the FOB where you want to move to) You can find the object to create the FOB under "Support" -> "Land_Cargo20_military_green_F".

The container can be loaded on a HEMTT or airlifted. Once in place, you can unload it and position as you like.

Vehicles found in main base don't respawn, but they can be repaired when damaged or destroyed.

To do so you can lift them with a Ghosthawk or have them towed by the CRV-6e Bobcat to the base at the marker with a blue wrench; the green one is for repairing and refuelling the UAVs.

Any destroyed vehicle needs some time for repairs; once fully restored it will be available again at the original departure point.

Every player can leave a sitrep which other players will be able to read later (scroll menu)

The VAS by Tonic is available as a basic version; if some player should find trouble initializing the script, he can load his own pre-saved profiles without waiting for complete initialization using the light blue action instead of the red one.

Conquering towns

Once conquered, towns will change their markers from red to green; they can be taken back by the enemy according to a percentage of the global progress in conquering the island. Once the take-back has started (pop-up alert in game), players will have X minutes before a town falls in enemy hands.

Squad Leader

The Squad leader slot is very important for its many skills:

- can deploy a rally point as a forward respawn point

- can ask for side missions (hostage rescue, killing of an officer, destruction of radio tower etc)

- can access the debugging console

- can save the game session

We played your mission tonight and will continue to do so for a long time based on todays session :) Really good mission!!!

A few notes from the members:

- There was an AI-pilot standing by the jets, Alpha 2-3. is he supposed to be there?

- While trying to airlift a wreck back to base we took a lot of damage from the wreck, maybe increase the height/distance between chopper and wreck?

- Could not airlift chopperwrecks, is it possible or should we stop trying? Maybe add a Mohawk for this?

- Increase max value for Revive time to 60mins?

- Sometimes when you got shot down you directly got thrown back to respawn menu, no chance for the other players to revive you. I think this happend when you were pressing a key as you we're killed, ie talking on ACRE...

- Add a couple of Greyhawk drones?

Other than that REALLY fun mission :D good job!

It's a personal request from one of my clan mate. The pilot can be recruited and he can help to assign target. So he said, so i did :P

It's based on the distance from the wreck but i could take a look at it.

Could not airlift chopperwrecks

Maybe an error, a GhostHawk should be able to do it, i'll check it ;)

Add a couple of Greyhawk drones?

You can spawn them at the logistic point! ;)

Hey Giallustio,

Good job, I just had a quick look and found a few errors cropping up on a hosted game, but it works great on a dedicated. Will have to get a lot mor eguys to have a go at this one.

Reminds me of MSO dare I say it. I miss that mission style since A2.

GhostHawk for lifting wrecks? Is this not too heavy for such a "small" aircraft?

A few more notes:

- When using the advanced medical system it says transfuTion, should be transfuSion.

- We tried to repair a Hunter wreck and when I chose "Repair Wreck" in the menu the wreck disappeared. Is it supposed to repair in the repairspot or disappear and respawn at original spawnpoint?

- There is a bug in the default ACRE radio-box that you get spammed with radios when you pick one up from the box. We have the same problems in our missions so the bug seems to be in ACRE but can easily be fixed if you remove the ACRE box and instead use an empty box and add the radios from a script instead (AddItemCargoGlobal...).

Yes, I usually do that but we had some players that hadn't set up their profiles and needed to add radios to their gear. Since only the 343 is available in VAS they need to get the other radios from somewhere else.

Suggestion: add some civilian ambience to the towns. People, cars, animals...

Love Love Love Love LOVE the mission, reminds me of MSO so much.

Would it be possible to add AI recruitment and HALO jumping if at all possible please?

I don't like the concept of the HALO jump, I could think about the AI recruitment but i'd prefer to play with human, so...

@Giallustio, The Reason I asked Is because I play in a small clan, of about 10 people, AI would help us a lot.

A small suggestion maybe make 2 version of your mission. 1 with AI and one without perhaps. Thank you however for the consideration at least, it would be great to see,

I tested the airlift problem reported but it works for me...

I'm going to investigate it further when I get home tonight but I couldn't get it to work last night when I tried, also two experienced players been trying on our server today.

Can't lift or tow airvehicles. Choppers, jets, drones. no difference on wrecks or working vehicles

Landvehicles works fine, both wrecks and working vehicles.

Hello Giallustio,

Would you like a small question, the mod instalaei iniDB server of my group, I started the mission, performed one save in the game and he created the file in the db iniDB correctly, but when closing the server and start it again when the mission ends to be started, all vehicles disappear from the map.

Do you know anything about this problem?
