Has Naturalpoint dropped the A3 support for TrackIR?

Recommended Posts

I decided to reinstall the TrackIR5 after a little break. I reinstalled the newest version (v5.2.200, build 14548) of TIR5 software and updated the game list, but to my great surprise, I didn't find Arma 3 from the supported games list anymore. Second game list update didn't help either (it says that the list is up to date). They have even dropped the game from their "supported games" page on their website: http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/03-enhanced-games/enhanced-games-all.html

I'd post on their support forums, but I didn't manage to pass their ridiculous anti-spambot questions

Again another issue with this thingy... Is it time to request RMA, or am I just wrong and/or blind and A3 is actually supported?

im also running v5.2.200 14548.

step 1: launch trackir 5 app

step 2: launch arma 3

step 3: alt+tab back to trackir 5 app

step 4: look at top right corner... determine "title" that is identified by trackir.

you should also find arma 3 in the "titles" tab.

I Use TrackIR5 too.

I just modified my ARMA2 profile for A3.

Of course it still works even if there is no profile for A3.

Thanks for help mate, but unfortunately even though I did like you told, I either failed again or then there's something wrong, because I can't determine the Arma 3 anywhere and the game still isn't on the game list. Here's a screenshot:

Update the games list, I had to do that.

Did you read the OP? :p I have tried that gazillion times, before and after reinstall, and checked that firewall is not blocking the connection.

While you probably want to get the problem resolved that it isn't updating your game list, just click the Exclusive box on the Default profile. Then run Arma 3 and it will work with the TrackIR. If you run the TrackIR software after you've already started Arma then go into your Controller settings within Arma Config menu and disable then enable the TrackIR controller again.

Thanks for help dale0404 and Focher!

Unfortunately the game list remains the same, it keeps saying that the list is up to date. I tried using the "Exclusive" profile too, but didn't work either sadly. My controller menu looks always like this, despite of the launch order of the programs:

Does your current TrackIR System work in ArmA 2?

If not, you may pluged it in the USB 3.0 slot. (which leads to strange behave, at least on my system)

If it works in ArmA 2 contact Natural Point Support...

do you have tried older trackIR software or driver cleaner before reinstall or changing usb slot like lappihuan suggested?

Arma clearly doesn't see the TrackIR. Do you see it in Device Manager? I would try unplugging everything, uninstalling the software, rebooting, reinstall the software, reboot, then plug everything back in.

Tried everything mentioned above with no luck, thanks for trying anyway. I guess I'll have to attempt to contact the support, but I might sell this as well :p

Is your computer plugged in? :crazy_o:

Just kidding. Confirm the product itself IS indeed working? I'm guessing from first post

that you used it before, or no? Make sure you start it before you use it on any game.

Make sure its plugged into a 2.0 USB port. And make sure you have the Reflector Clip

ON your hat so the IR eye has something to bounce the signal off of to work.

You do not need it listed in 'supported' games. Never understood what that was for

exactly. Maybe just a formality. None of my games are and all work perfect as default.

LOVE TrackIR! Can't play any sim without it.

Hardware is working without issues, everything installed correctly (yes, I've used it in the past with success), tried different USB ports (front panel, rear, 3.0 and 2.0), I launch the TIR program before game (tried it vice versa too) etc. etc. I just can't the frikkin' thing to work with A3! :p

How do you use it with unlisted games then? The game doesn't detect the device no matter what I do (see the pic above). It got detected before, but not anymore.

The issue isn't that you don't see it in the list of games within the TrackIR software. That's irrelevant and only for allowing you to customize profiles for specific games. The issue is Arma isn't recognizing that the TrackIR is there. Either your drivers are corrupted and Windows doesn't have it installed or there's a problem with Arma (which is unlikely, because no one else has reported the problem and Arma is just using the game controller support within Windows).

You should check Device Manager and see if you have a section called NaturalPoint Devices with TrackIR in it.

and try to unplug everything else in the usb slots while installing the TrackIR software. (TrackIR uses a own usb driver, so maybe another device is causing some problems during the install)

A note in case owners of TrackIR don't know:

If you activate your TrackIR after starting ARMA it won't be recognized

BUT if you go to Options/Controls menu then it will be activated in ARMA

Bit off topic here guys but you are the experts. I was thinking of getting TrackIR but read somewhere that

you had to have vertical sync enabled to have it work ? Is this true ?

If so I would loose too much fps on my system to make it worth the purchase.

Many thanks in advance for a reply
