Azza FHI 50 Posted December 19, 2014 Ahk cheers. Cleaned up my pc abit yesterday, installed new drivers etc. This was just a quick test run to post here. In the past i have seen a few fallback errors and then afterwards the rest of the lines are allocated as SP. im assuming it has failed at this point. I guess ill paste that if it happens again. lordprimate 159 Posted December 21, 2014 (edited) I lost 8gb of my ssd space after using the lpmanager thing you did something wrong. and secondly , Fred, i did a quick test. I averaged 3 consecutive runs of altis benchmark with malloc=system (Win8). and then three consecutive runs of altis benchmark with malloc=tbbmalloc. I saw an increase of 4 fps(avg.). doesn't seem like much to anyone, but to me, anything helps. Keep up the good work. My question is in regards to the 2047 RAM limit. How is this malloc able to allow > 2GB when the engine is soft-coded to a 2GB limit? I just read all 51 pages so I may have missed it. I am planning on testing this malloc on my server very soon. I think it may help some but I believe the real problem to be the lack of multi-threaded performance. The server stays above 40 FPS until about 45-50 players. It drops to around 25-30 FPS at around 60 players and 70-80 players brings it down to 5-10 FPS. It's still playable but not ideal. My goal is to have at least 30 FPS for 100 players. The only thing I can think of for the CPU side of this issue is to use HCs (now that BI woke up and made them free to use). I could push all the DB queries over to a HC and maybe find other things to push onto HCs. It would be awesome if I could push some of the calculations off to the servers Quadro GPU. Let me know if you have any suggestions. In respect to the meaning of the '-maxMem' parameter, you have to consider its age (32 bit OS era, with <2GB address space for user applications). On todays 64bit operating systems, arma has an virtual address space of nearly 4GB and BI is basically using 'maxMem' to control the size of a big 'section object' outside (additional to) this virtual address space. This currently means, regardless of used memory manager, with maxMem set to 2047, arma can already use memory up to 4GB (linear addressed) + ~1.6GB (via, a bit slower, file mapping api). If arma will be build as a real 64 bit application, the direct addressable memory will be upto 8TB on windows, more then enough to hold all needed data in RAM, for fastest access and easier developing. I would remove the -exThreads=1 parameter from your command line and perhaps play with -enableHT or -cpuCount. I think the HC concept is still a beastly thing, but yes, why not using more cores for script processing this way, considering it is free? I also have 8GB RAM, (Usually at least 1GB more free than you though and only 60 system processes running) and it defragments so fast in normal use that to enable LP I have to launch the game right after restart. St. Jimmy 272 Posted January 11, 2015 It was a bit better after the system restart, but not even a minute into a loaded test mission I already had the fallback and my game became a slideshow for a few seconds Just minimize all the program you're running as start-up. Check from the malloc_xxxx file that is in your Arma 3 folder that you know (time when it was modified should hint you that) that you fresh restarted to see the best result. If it was quick fallback like in a couple of seconds then something isn't right. I just run 600s session with my 8GB RAM flying around with camera all around Altis opening/cosing zooming in/out my map without fallback but I'm not sure how long 6GB can run without fallback. /There's 3-5fps difference between using and not using tbbmalloc for me in Altis benchmark.
