icewindo 29 Posted September 2, 2013 (edited) Hey, here's an addon / Modders Resource I put together. I'm sure most people have noticed the lack of any women models in A3 so this package might fill the gap. It's an extremely early version (!) , please have a look at the readme. I won't continue this - mostly because of time reasons - but so it doesn't vanish I'm releasing it as a modders resource / partly playable. The addon version contains 3 pre-set units and an example mission with added high-pitched speakers (adding the voices addon-wise doesn't seem to work as the voice is not used). Have fun :) Screenshots: http://s7.directupload.net/images/130903/8cyfty2e.jpg http://s14.directupload.net/images/130903/at6j9sby.jpg By Zenger: http://arma.at.ua/Zenger/News_1/363/q1.jpg http://arma.at.ua/Zenger/News_1/363/q2.jpg Video (also explaining some stuff) Female Soldiers [bETA] v0.1 alpha Thanks for the mirror :) Mlod 0.1 Alpha http://www.mediafire.com/?fgpyl9c8d57lc2d Readme 09/03/13 - Female 0.1 (Alpha / Modders Resource) by Icewindo ============================================================= - this pack contains two new heads and a female body to be used in the creation of female soldiers - all the models were created using the great OSS (open source software) "MakeHuman" (makehuman.org) - As body armor + equipment is not "figure friendly" the heads don't look so bad on standard BIS models - As there's no female speech in A3 yet or women at all, speech can be simulated by using a high-pitched "Speaker9" - The faces are not animated. Although I could fix that, I lack the time. - the female body itself is not a very good rig. I lack the skill to get it done further but feel free to pick it up (and maybe add a shirt or sth. :) ) Credits ============================================================= BIS - Sample Models Makehuman software - Actual Female models (http://www.makehuman.org/) Icewindo - rigging and configs Licensing ============================================================= Commercial or military use prohibited You are free to use this addon, improve / modify and create derivates of the addon without asking. tpw 2315 Posted September 3, 2013 Thank you so much for this. I used Schnapsdrosel's awesome female units in A2 and really lamented the fact that they didn't make it across to A3.

I also started working on a serverside addon which is able to swap units for specific player. So the server will be able to switch the units of every female player to this new models. Maybe this could also be used to force the same cfgIdentities in every mission for a specific player.
zenger 0 Posted September 3, 2013 A very interesting addon, thank you. :) I could not hold out and did a couple of screen-art, sorry if this is offtop.

thedog88 4 Posted September 4, 2013 this is cool, i like that you are filling a gap in the armaverse. 1 critique however, females in the military generally have to wear their hair in a bun, im not sure if you implemented that but it didnt appear so. females in arma combat roles = gap filled children civilian AI = gap still open lol

Perhaps you could create a script that changes it based on someones player id, then either make it a mod or just create a mission framework with it included for your group to use. I will probaly go with the playername. This will allow people to use different identitys.
Vilos Cohaagen 1 Posted September 4, 2013 Brilliant! Thanks for releasing this - I'm definitely going to be using it lots :)
tpw 2315 Posted September 4, 2013 If someone would look into modifying the shadowing behaviour, that would also be great. Currently the female faces don't seem to react to shadow - for instance during daytime the faces appear to glow yellow/pink when in a chopper where male units faces are darkened. Similarly, a boonie will not cast shadows on the female faces.
icewindo 29 Posted September 4, 2013 (edited) @All Thanks, yep I'm glad you guys like it and it is helping some people. :) A very interesting addon, thank you. :)I could not hold out and did a couple of screen-art, sorry if this is offtop. http://arma.at.ua/Zenger/News_1/363/q1_.jpghttp://arma.at.ua/Zenger/News_1/363/q2_.jpg No problem at all, these screens are really great. Do you mind if I add them into the first post? Looks way better. this is cool, i like that you are filling a gap in the armaverse. 1 critique however, females in the military generally have to wear their hair in a bun, im not sure if you implemented that but it didnt appear so.females in arma combat roles = gap filled children civilian AI = gap still open lol Yeah there's two heads as twp said. Childs are technically possible, but you'd need to create new animations which is quite a large undertaking for any humanoid model. For childs you could probably narrow it down to walking and running to lessen the workload. Here's also some more files that might help with a female civilian version: http://www.mediafire.com/?c2asz3jch13f6cv The link contains the original makehuman file I created, it can be used to add clothing models that are in the library: http://s1.directupload.net/images/130905/8ccxemok.jpg http://s7.directupload.net/images/130905/3u2uiszn.jpg Even fits ArmA3s weather ;) The file also contains the shortdress, pants and the longsleeve shirt as seen in the library as p3d file. They're not rigged in any way though and would need scale adjustments. Before you load up the makehuman model, you should add the european skin by going to library -> skin -> check for updates. If someone would look into modifying the shadowing behaviour, that would also be great. Currently the female faces don't seem to react to shadow - for instance during daytime the faces appear to glow yellow/pink when in a chopper where male units faces are darkened. Similarly, a boonie will not cast shadows on the female faces. Yep I disabled the shadow lods from the female model which were arma3 example file shadow models adjusted a little. The adjusted models are in the edit 0.000 / 10.000 lod. Shadow lods are kinda quirky, atleast to me. Edited September 4, 2013 by Icewindo
suprememodder 11 Posted September 5, 2013 great effort. but this also highlights the need for official female skeleton+animation set. because the skeleton is for male, so the only females you can make for these are tall supermodels
AlexVestin 24 Posted September 5, 2013 There will be females in the final game, so wouldn't we all be able to switch to a female face in the profile editor?
antoineflemming 14 Posted September 5, 2013 There will be females in the final game, so wouldn't we all be able to switch to a female face in the profile editor? Were we able to in Arma 2? Were we able to in Operation Arrowhead? Answer those questions, and you'll have your answer.
AlexVestin 24 Posted September 5, 2013 Were we able to in Arma 2? Were we able to in Operation Arrowhead? Answer those questions, and you'll have your answer. I get your point. You know if the faces selectable are defined in a config? I'll have to look into that.
PN11A 2 Posted September 5, 2013 Hey Thanks for this I can use it as a template. I tried to use your mood mesh but its not workable, im not sure why but its very very very strange typology I think it could be the program you used. I couldnt get it in zbrush either
icewindo 29 Posted September 5, 2013 (edited) I get your point. You know if the faces selectable are defined in a config? I'll have to look into that. That would not be possible, as the female faces would also need another skeleton and thus not be compatible to men models. Leads to instant crash. In the past (A2, OA) the female heads even were part of the female model itself. There were head files, but they were 4kb dummy files which I found out in disappointment back then. Hey Thanks for this I can use it as a template. I tried to use your mood mesh but its not workable, im not sure why but its very very very strange typology I think it could be the program you used. I couldnt get it in zbrush either Hmm what mood mesh do you mean? Edited September 5, 2013 by Icewindo
