spooky lynx 73 Posted August 1, 2013 Fully agree - there's nothing to do with porn. Main problem is wrong parenting.
mrcash2009 0 Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) http://www.channel4.com/news/jimmy-wales-cameron-porn-plan-ridiculous-idea Is the internet a wild west? Krishnan Guru-Murthy talks to Jimmy Wales, the free speech activist and internet pioneer who founded Wikipedia and who advises David Cameron. tX_-mxCqcOg The point made at the end ref opt in and paedophiles examples (what the media mix into this) pretty much say what I was thinking about how pointless it would actually be based on the argument. Although I sometimes wonder if this was the point all along, for people to call for something stronger to be done if that's the case, which is "interesting". The funny part was the facebook "hacker challenge" (as in not asking for one)... I wonder who will try something to be clever? :) Edited August 4, 2013 by mrcash2009

I wonder who will try something to be clever? :) Jimmy Wales, what a moron, it's best to actually know the subject then you don't make howling errors, it would also be nice if he stated his conflict of interest on the issue and didn't mislead about his advisory role. Preventing paedophiles from accessing paedophilia isn't the filter's main purpose and isn't what Cameron said it would be used for? The main part of the strategy that will target paedophiles is the internet search engines agreement to block search terms related to paedophilia and CEOP continuing to remove sites displaying that content. Those are sepaprate actions and isn't part of the the network filter. The network filter is purely designed to filter out adult content for children and can only be turned off/edited by the account holder. Guess you don't understand it either MrCash? FPDR It would also be nice if Jimmy Wales admitted that he made much of his money from advertising on Bomis.com, a site that was used primarily to host web-rings related to porn searches and he only shut it down in 2010 when it became an embarrassment to him. Contrary to most articles, he is not an 'advisor to David Cameron' or 'The Governments Technology Advisor'. He is an unpaid advisor to the civil service on innovatons to promote open government. Yet more nonsense in the press..... Edited August 5, 2013 by Mattar_Tharkari
mrcash2009 0 Posted August 5, 2013 (edited) Everyones a moron, retard, right wing arch enemy of the state, or the background of a demon when it doesn't suit, very interesting response. I assume if the same came from an official working for government spouting the party line it would be no questions asked & obvious .. "megaLOLZ". Its the media pushing the other aspects to this around the filter, so I clearly understand as I posted this numerous times about media bloating the argument (guilt trip debate), what he responds to is the media bloated argument, and at the end he makes the opt-in / out part highlight how trivial it all is as a solution. Do you always have a short reading span and only react per-post basis without overall points in a entire thread, because I made it pretty clear I understand the filter on the front end and the proposal, I just dont run with it fully. for children and can only be turned off/edited by the account holder. Which depends on what the account holder wants as its a simple off switch, which can all be filtered local for the children anyway, effectively the parent can think "stuff this" as they are an adult and dont want to be filtered so turn it off and then they filter it for the childs login local (as normal and can be done now) ... I will say it over & over & over again no mis-understanding what so ever. Edited August 5, 2013 by mrcash2009

That's not true, I think you are a genius and have a genuine gift ........ for finding crap in the media and on the internet, not fact checking it and posting it here. No one can surpass you lolz. Nothing I said above about Jimmy Wales is untrue - check it out. He totally misrepresents what the filter does which indicates he is either not being truthful or doesn't understand it. If that's the best an expert in the web/IT can come up with after having many days to analyse the subject, I seriously question his intelligence and abilities. The inflated advisory role is another serious factual problem there??? I would like to know how he can comment after making a living from advertising connected to porn searches at Bomis.com for many years, is his interest in the field still active or not??? The questions were about the overall picture, but demonise as you wish. That's not true It is, but fine. I think you are a genius and have a genuine gift ........ I dont. for finding crap in the media and on the internet, not fact checking it and posting it here. No one can surpass you lolz. In your opinion. Sorry I didnt realise its a court of law and your the moderator, its isnt and your not, said that many times .. so said it again. Its a news article and an opinion and highlights the point I was making about media wish washing the point and mixing it with other areas (questions posed), these are the reasons for posting, you have an issue with the man tweet him or get on his case on facebook instead of playing shoot the messenger and fogging the point here as normal. Just reactionary noise as per normal, convince yourself of his background its the clips overall points mainly as to why I posted, start a blog, I told you before.
