Equiping items while being crouched

Recommended Posts

I was wathching a video on Youtube about the wasteland mod. One thing that really frustrated the player, rightfully if you ask me, that you can't equip some items while in cover, or while crouched. He wanted to take an RPG from a crate and his character just stood up, fully exposing himself after which he ofcourse was fatally wounded.

The animation took so long, and could not be cancceled, and because of it he actually died. Now, there are more of these issues that I believe BI should adress before releasing the final game. It's really a matter of design decisions which I believe they haven't looked at yet.

He should just have dragged it into his inventory instead of whatever he did there to start the loading animation... right? Avoidable I think.

Right clicking shouldn't initiate reloading a weapon. and why oh why can't we go prone like in ArmA2 when the launcher is out. Seems like a step back. Anyway, this belongs in the DEV branch discussion thread.

If you drag an RPG into your inventory, it wont reload, it will only do it if you then drag a rocket into its ammo slot.

Does the same with every single gun you can equip.

If you want to avoid reloading, drag the ammo into your pack or vest then you can reload the weapon at your own leisure.

If you want to put one in the pipe are a mag in a gun so you can get more in your rucksack, then you are just going to have to load it like you would do if you were doing it for real.

Guy you watched on the vid was either inexperienced or being greedy for rockets.

You can't go prone with a launcher in A2. It'll put it on your back, pull out your main weapon and then go prone.

That's what I meant. You can go prone with the launcher equipped. You can't be prone although that should have been a feature long ago.

Maybe my knowledge of the English language failed me? ;)

With most launchers the backblast blows and burns your legs if fired from prone position.

Only light launchers a prone position is possible.

I still think they should just fix it. Because its just kind of silly, he doesn't need to stand up to reload. It might need a new animation, but I think there could also be a simpeler solution.

They just have to make sure that you can only reload when you press R. It breaks the immersion because a real soldier would never do that, and a real soldier doesnt' have out load commands which make him stand up automatically.

CyclonicTuna, you should be around long enough to know that threads are supposed to have descriptive titles :wink_o:

Arma animations require a major overhaul. The community has been asking for years for this, it's about time we had complete control of our bodies.

No, they don't. You simply don't fire them like you would a rifle. Instead, you're supposed to put your body at angle with the launcher. Depending on the launcher, I think it's 60-80 degrees. BTW, that position is very good for firing a rifle, too, and a somewhat "moderate" version (about 30 degrees) is used in sport shooting. You can shoot, quite comfortably, in fact, with your weapon perpendicular to your body.
