Let's discuss evil, now that the Hitler thread is closed. I think evil is like ... VERY IMPORTANT and stuff.

If it wasn't for evil people and evil stuff, there would be like 87 BILLION PEOPLE on this planet and it would be so heavy that it tore itself from the sun's gravitational pull and everybody would die anyway.

Since the earth has limited resources, I think it's good that many people are like VERY POOR and dying, so I can have more wealth and beer and porn on cable.

So I think evil is a good thing. I'm gonna vote for evil!

From a purely evolutionary perspecrive 'evil' may be good. An ability to get what we want/need without care of how it is done.

However we don't live under evolutionary preassure alone, we live as part of a collective. There are great advantages in helping each other.

scientifically, when you're a kid in order to grow, your body must entropy quite a bit. the ratio of entropy to growth is much lower for entropy therefore growth occurs at an accelerated rate but then it evens out.

for you muscle heads out there think of it like this, you lift weight, muscle tissue slightly rips (natural), you heal, 2 days later you're BUFF BABY!

"evil" is inescapable from society, first because it is an abstract definition that changes with the times, second because we as a species enjoy growth and exploration. hence the phrase "to make an omelette you have to break a few eggs."

Think about it harder.

If there was no such thing as Evil then there would be no Good because there would be nothing opposite to compare what Good is. Good is the opposite of Evil, so without Evil there is nothing opposite to be Good.

Same for light and darkness, Without light darkness would just be what is not what is when there is an absence of light.

Good and Evil are interdenpendant without one you can't have the other.

When I first read this last night I came within a hair of closing it. What stopped me wasnt the fact that Gimbal is a mod, but the fact that his post was (if a little crazy) rational and presented something to talk about.

If this degenerates into mod bashing, I'll ask that it move to PM's.

I happen to think Gimbal is off his rocker.

Evil generally has nothing to do with war. War is the product of population pressures, idealogical disputes, and greed. And while there are evil people (Hitler, Stalin, et al) ewar is not inherently evil.

To subscribe to Gibal's world view... I'd have to believe that the world is black and white...but as anyone who has had to live in the Real World knows, there is nothing totally black and white

Gimbal has one valid point, the population thing. Im a little crazy(yes Sir, I have taken my pills today) so half the time Im a really nice perosn, the other half Im evil. The good side of me says Evil is bad, becasue it makes people suffer for petty reasons. The evil side of me agrees that evil is good becasue we have too many people. Think about it, at the end of the century, providing we dont have a nuclear war or something, the population will have climbed up to probably something like 15-20billion if we continue at this rate. Even if we find another planet, we cant move the entire population. So, were going to have to do what the Nazis used to do at concentration camps. Lines will be formed, at the top of the line will be someone. This person will check each persons papers. If they have important skills to give humanity like been a doctor or something, they will go down the left path for example. If the person has no use, or has a skill that millions of others have, they shall go down the right. Those that go down the right will have to be simply exterminated. We shall just not have room for them anymore. Of course, this would casue massive riots and wars that would probably finish off humanity anyway. But maybe from all the carnage, the animals would live.

Why not instead of saying "what a stupid thread" give an answer that defends your beleifs that this is infact a stupid thread. proove that this is a stupid thread. back it up with evidence.

If there is problems with an over populated world, i would see no harm in just being done with stupid criminals who will never cease what they do if they got released, also save a fortune on tax payers money by not having to keep them in jail. However my opinion wouldnt stand, and there would be human rights marches from dawn till dusk. Would it be ironic if i protested against protestors?? most likely.

Some criminals are deemed "evil" by judges, like pedophiles, rapists etc, and i agree, they are sickenly evil. would it however be thought of as "evil" to pop a bullet through their head?

I think a real life game show like The Running Man would be great. Would anyone here think that as evil, or pure entertainment!!!.

Just as a sidenote, as the resources for all this people would come from earth their would be no change in weight at all

And mother nature would regulate it anyway by plagues and diseases and stuff like that. Maybe the redirection of a little asteroid

I don't think that war is about evil, when thinking it from a single soldier's

perspective. They do just what they are told to. Like, who is going to blame

the soldiers of Rome for killing Jesus?

But I think that leaders leading their countries to wars are evil, or at least

dark grey, so to speak..
