OVER POWERED AI ! Please fix this for final game ruins coop

Recommended Posts

Yep the AI is just a bad joke right now in ARMA 3,today i play Wasteland with some friends, and a AI AH-60 with Rocket pods killed me from a distance of 7 Kilometers with Pin point accuracy yay so fun to play with godlike AI.And you dont even hear the Rockets fly,you just hear a Explosion and see the chopper thats it.

I really hope the AI gets fixed before the final game comes out. The campaign will suck with AI like this!

Made a different profile under the new patch, suddenly the AI is rather more fair and more consistent?

can anybody explain this to me...

I don't know if this has been shown in the thread, but this is an interesting video a guy made on youtube (AI knows about where you are despite they are on the other side of the hill):

Yeah AI is so messed up right now lol but I look at it like this, AI is really something to replace real players. That's a freaking hard task to accomplish realistically, as there's so much unpredictability going on with that. What I've noticed is in common forms of low grade AI, the enemy seems to just track the players position through walls, vegetation, terrain etc. This is what seems to be happening in Arma. The AI pinpoints me and shoots me through thick layers of grass where I have absolutely no possibly way of acquiring a visual on the enemy before getting one shot. That has to go. Unfortunately the only thing I can imagine would alleviate this is by making the AI "dumber." Some people would probably get upset over this prospect because it sounds like "casuals wanting an easier game" but there's a clear difference between "easy" and realistic. Getting shot through layers and layers of vegetation before you can even see the enemy is not realistic. It's poor AI design. I don't know how they could possibly fix this problem, it sounds like it would take a lot more CPU processing power to handle, which is bad news for all of us :( I just hope the AI gets tuned to be more believable before the game is officially released. I can't imagine playing a fully fleshed out campaign with this level of wallhacking going on.

New profile reset difficulty settings?

DaRkL3AD3R: Mainly AI spotting and accuracy needs tweaking (reducing).

Their skill from what I've seen is quite good. (seeking cover etc)

In your 'profile' document you can edit the skill and accuracy separately. High skill and lower accuracy helps but they still spot you through folliage and the whole enemy tracking thing needs looking into

That's odd as Ive definitely noticed the AI seems less accurate for perhaps the last couple of weeks -almost as if I can see a mild tracer dispersion coming right out of their barrel. I pretty much play the same Clean Sweep -type mission everyday since early alpha and it used to be 1 shot kills -no longer in my experience.

They're still a little shoddy at tracking quick lateral CQB maneuvers -rotating as if to always "catch up" with the players trajectory rather than anticipating and leading the target but overall Im pretty happy with how urban combat is playing out. Perhaps if they added more player inertia on lateral moves it would solve the problem or simply slowed that juking ability down a notch. One small animation gripe is how they rotate -looks like robotron on a swiveling pole and would be much improved by small feet shuffles as quick readjustments.

Well, RiE did say that one of the reasons they hired a "game balance designer" was to do things like tweaking AI accuracy based on weapon class... have you been able to notice any such consistency of differentiation in your experiences with these recent playthroughs?

I guess that the Server Admins can adjust the stregth of the bots, because in singleplayer ok they shoot pretty accurate, but in Multiplayer they can be some real killing machines, klling people with choppers from 5 or more kilometers away. But for the Single-Player the bots are ok so far.
