nikiforos 450 Posted May 3, 2013 Not all can accept bad FPS and lagg. I have been a hardcore player since Operation Flashpoint so no problem here. But when I try to play with mates it's quite hard to convince them to stay and to play Arma 2, Arma 3 with all lagg tha occurs during multiplayer games. It's not a question of keeping "old" players but a question to win new players and to expand the multiplayer experience.
marcai 1 Posted May 6, 2013 Everyone newer than me, or with an opinion different to mine is probably a spoiled casual The length of time someone is on a forum for should not affect how important their opinion is. The only reason to even bring it up is purely a case of e-peen and 'look how long I've been here'- the fact that you used the term 'casual' in a serious sense shows that on it's own. Could the influx of people signing up two months ago possibly be because a new game was released two months ago and they bought it? Perhaps -just perhaps- they want to give feedback on the forums? Trying to run them and their ideas off of the forums because you disagree with them is pretty childish. As for the engine, it can't be denied that it's old and has poor performance. Yes, impressive possibilities, but right now a lot of players (not including myself, but they are out there) are having such performance issues that they can't see any benefit of the engine. I don't want a re-write of the coding, as we're far too far into development for that to happen now. Myself, and many others in this thread, simply want stable performance to be at the top of the agenda for BIS in making Arma 3. Not immediately. Not 'or else'. Just customers giving feedback to an alpha. Spoiled by casual playercentric fast paced stupid fps Seriously, I just had to quote that bit alone so you could read it back to yourself and feel bad. I might go to the Total War forums and complain that Age of Empires players are ruining their game in threads and see if I can get the same levels of paranoid pretentiousness out of them- Bloody casuals! Says the guy who just joined the forums (sorry couldn´t resist). Fact: Many of those new players NEVER played OFP, or Arma. They are new to the series and I am the first one to welcome new players. But I really hate it if people buy this game expecting it to be like all those "other" FPS out there, then they see that it is different and try to push the design into the generic FPS direction. OT: The Total War series was ruined, but not by Age of Empires players, but by the greed of SEGA and CA. (Played TW since Medieval 1, have been Moderator on Germanys biggest TW Forum (has closed) and has some insight about how things wen´t wrong with CA)
chrisb 196 Posted May 7, 2013 What baffles me is this series is not that old (12yrs or so), many players would have played ofp, ofpe, arma/2, these are all titles, that for me and many other players, are fairly recent, having been console/pc gaming since the 70’s. The attitude, that because you may not have been on the forum here for long, that you can’t have played the series before, is a pretty odd attitude. Most all war gamers would have picked this series up at some point over the past decade, many would have stayed with it, probably hundreds of thousands of players, if not more. There's only around two to three thousand players active on here, which is a very small percentage of the overall player base for the series.. New players are welcome, game wouldn't survive if it wasn’t for new players and a turnover of new players..:) Those that are completely new to the series have discovered a diamond amongst rocks.. Flash Thunder 10 Posted May 7, 2013 You guys never read the fine legal print. Recommended specs are as follows: Quantum computers from 2050. This is the only way you will ever achieve playable fps on MP mainly and single player.
andressergio 1 Posted May 8, 2013 very laggy indeed when u go and edit the map no matter what part your start runing and u get low FPS and then high and low again producing that laggy feel guess lots of issues should be resolved but if it was me i would do this first than the rest
no use for a name 0 Posted May 8, 2013 Wow, this pissing match again?? Just because a system meets/exceeds the requirements doesn't mean it will run with maxed out settings and get good fps!!
