spectrersg 9 Posted March 31, 2013 Look great, but how we're you able to get the helmet textured?
antoineflemming 14 Posted March 31, 2013 You texture it the same way as you do the vests. Hidden selection is "camo". Open up my sf_nato_config.pbo and take a look at the code. I know hiddenSelections work for the dev build, but I thought they fixed it for the stable build too. Maybe not, but at the very least, the helmets work with the dev build. spectrersg 9 Posted March 31, 2013 I'm on a phone or I would, so I apologize for asking... Are you setting the camo selection for a vest's iteminfo? And is it the BI equip1_co file you're toying with? For example: Nevermind... I believe I'm over thinking it. Will take a look; thanks!

For the hiddenSelection for the vest and helmets, I put the hiddenSelection and hiddenSelectionTextures under the model= line and then I put another hiddenSelection line under the uniformModel line under the iteminfo section. Don't know if I need to but it works.

antoineflemming 14 Posted March 31, 2013 Ah. You gotta read. It's just clothing, vests, and helmets right now. So you gotta use dyslecxi's gear menu to view them. I'll release the classnames when I get back to my pc (on my phone right now).

davids 10 Posted March 31, 2013 Interesting concept with trying to add them all into one thing. I have one criticism though, these all look substandard to the A3 textures done by BIS and some others.
daveygary1979 14 Posted March 31, 2013 if you could create an ammo / kit box that included these uniforms it would be awesome!
antoineflemming 14 Posted April 1, 2013 (edited) Interesting concept with trying to add them all into one thing. I have one criticism though, these all look substandard to the A3 textures done by BIS and some others. Yeah, they are at the moment. I've only recently started modding (as in the last few months). I'm really only overlaying camouflage over a normal map at the moment. I'll fine-tune the textures and add some dirt and stuff before the v1.0 release. I plan to have them finalized by the time Arma 3 releases. @daveygary1979 I'll be sure to do that. EDIT: British SAS, to be featured in next update Edited April 1, 2013 by antoineflemming
davids 10 Posted April 1, 2013 British SAS, to be featured in next update What makes them SAS?
cross888 10 Posted April 1, 2013 All UKSF "Sanitize" there uniforms before ops that means removing all badges. Our guys don't wear any badge of rank, nationality or anything that would suggest a change of force in theaters. Also most Tier 1 troops wear there jungle DPM cammo or crye gear and only tend to wear helmets on strike op's or mobility SFSG Dudes are the same they get given a 12 grand Grant to buy there own equipment so a lot of the stuff they were isn't issue. Not so many of them wear Jungle DPM but a few doo due to there not being enough places on Boats or Blades squadrons So they get posted to SFSG. Sources - Operational experience and a few of my mates are SF / SFSG. But i suppose it's your mod so crack on fella.
antoineflemming 14 Posted April 1, 2013 We talking boonie hats or what? For now, it's really just because of the camo. In the future there will be more various gear.
alasdair 1 Posted April 1, 2013 So you put some different camo on a guy and call him SAS?
MilitantMaddox 10 Posted April 1, 2013 So you put some different camo on a guy and call him SAS? Mate, If you dislike it, provide some constructive feedback or don't post/download the addon.
antoineflemming 14 Posted April 1, 2013 So you put some different camo on a guy and call him SAS? For now, yes. Why? Because 1) the gear choices currently in the addon aren't final and 2) it's literally JUST gear at this point. So it's not even listed as sas or ksk or grom. Guess I didn't specify that enough. But since you're a UK fan, you can help me. What gear (for the time being, vanilla Arma 3 gear) would you think is best suited for SAS? Plate Carrier or Chest rig? Helmet, cap, or boonie hat? I'm no model maker, so I focus on reskins and such. As more gear is made available throughout alpha and beta, then I'll have more options. Like I said in the OP, the actual SF units will come during beta. Right now, it's just gear retextures and multicam-like camo patterns, patterns fitting to Arma 3's COE. alasdair 1 Posted April 1, 2013 Well to be honest, if you're new to this I'd make some practice textures first because, no offence to you, but they look a little low qaulity. Now I understand its early stage, but you ned to do some research. Its all a google away. SAS never wear a flag on their uniform for a start. And in terms of body armour, a plate carrier is whats most common I think and I do have one in development, if you PM me I can possibly send you the file. And in terms of body armour, a plate carrier is whats most common I think and I do have one in development, if you PM me I can possibly send you the file. It's not the textures. It's my graphics settings. They aren't really high as my PC doesn't run Arma 3 the best. I did scale down the texture file from 4096x4096 to 2048x2048 simply because it's easier to manage and is faster to load up and edit.
Binkowski 26 Posted April 1, 2013 (edited) I did scale down the texture file from 4096x4096 to 2048x2048 simply because it's easier to manage and is faster to load up and edit. It may make it easier to load up edit and manage but it can decrease in game quality.. especially if the UV maps are made for a 4096x4096 texture and it's downsized to 2048 without resizing the UV map. While it won't cause any issues with bad mapping, it may cause blurry-ness on the textures in game. Again, this is all on a "it may happen" logic. I haven't had the chance to test these out and see them in game. I will, and let you know. Edited April 1, 2013 by Binkowski
