ProfTournesol 956 Posted March 1, 2013 (edited) If you like playing IF thats whats important, and like building missions then thats what matters, IF forums maybe one of those Awar games their playing with us again, have no idea us moderators weren't told anything about whats happening. Sorry to have attracted you into this Günter, you're doing a hell of a great job, as most of the people present on the (ex ?) IF forum who are behaving very nicely toward each others (apart from those i banned ;)). Edited March 1, 2013 by ProfTournesol
jinzor 31 Posted March 1, 2013 I really need the forums back up for help with the IF44 mission editor. There are some things which I need specifically for it, such as the airborne paratrooper script that was in the "Missions" sub-forum. I can't find it anywhere else. W0lle 1050 Posted March 1, 2013 And what we here shall do about that? Send an email to X1/AWAR and complain. Besides that, your paratrooper script is most probably the same that is used since around 2001. You can find that here with just some research.
mr burns 132 Posted March 1, 2013 ^^ what wolle said However, this might be the specific one you´re after (as it was the last one that generated a fuss over there), not made by me only reuploaded: http://dfiles.eu/files/sn70ckrjs
jinzor 31 Posted March 1, 2013 (edited) And what we here shall do about that? Send an email to X1/AWAR and complain. What? I'm not saying you should do anything about it, I'm just saying why I need them. Who knows, maybe some people from AWAR/X1 are reading these forums since they closed theirs down (some have accounts here and have made posts in this forum), I don't even have their contact details anyway therefore I've got nowhere else to post (they probably wouldn't reply to me anyway considering how poor their communication with the community is). No need to throw the book at me for a post. EDIT: Edited a little bit, I was in a bad mood at the time of writing. Edited March 1, 2013 by Jinzor
raptor90 1 Posted March 1, 2013 I'm not sure the CryEngine, while looking amazing (visually, especially), could do exactly what the RV engine can do right now because I've yet to see a simulator on the exact sort of scale as a game like ArmA II's in that engine. Not sure what you mean. http://freesdk.crydev.net/display/COMMUNITY/XML+-+Vehicle http://freesdk.crydev.net/display/COMMUNITY/XML+-+Weapon Search that page more, seems that Cryengine 3 can do a lot more things or equal as RV4 much faster. Dunno...

Dunno... I said I have yet to see a (released) game that can do what a game like ArmA II/IF44, running the RV engine, has done. Not the fact that I don't think the CryEngine can do it at all. It probably could, I just need it to prove it first.
ProfTournesol 956 Posted March 1, 2013 Moreover this isn't the place to compare RV engine to Cry Engine.

Too bad it has been not released for public use. Look if you think that some RV engines are pinnacle of the Sim world you might be wrong.

Until I have sat down and played a released simulator game with that engine I will keep my opinion. EDIT: Moreover this isn't the place to compare RV engine to Cry Engine. I agree, it's never going to end. Should make a new thread for this.
Gunter Severloh 4052 Posted March 1, 2013 Sorry to have attracted you into this Günter, you're doing a hell of a great job, as most of the people present on the (ex ?) There are some things which I need specifically for it, such as the airborne paratrooper script that was in the "Missions" sub-forum. I can't find it anywhere else. Jinzor you can do a DDAy airborne scenario with any paradrop script, if you want a very simple one use this: D-day like paradrop http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?105823-D-day-like-paradrop&highlight=paradrop
LaGuerre 10 Posted March 2, 2013 It's been a while since the forums have been down. I'm kind of glad I didn't go ahead and buy the DLC (I was considering it) cause I'm getting a sneaking suspicion that they may be ditching further development of the IF44 project. Too but if it's the case cause it is i.m.o a dam solid game with excellent tank/air simulation and great models maps etc. Really though, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but I'm putting my experiments and scripting/mission making on hold for IF44. Arma III alpha is out soon so maybe they figure there is no future for DLC for a game that will be running on an older engine plus that announcement that the makers of IF44 are starting a new project demonstrates that they clearly aren't interested in pursuing further development of this project...and it's not even a year since release. Plus if it really were just a technical problem would it really be hard for them to get the word out via these forums?
Gunter Severloh 4052 Posted March 2, 2013 Lets wait and see and end all the debates and discussions about what Awar is and isn't doing, the forums are down for who knows what. My game still works whether the forums are down or not.

W0lle 1050 Posted March 2, 2013 I fail to see what else needs to discussed here. If their forums are down, then they are down and either come back or not. Nothing we can do about that here. :) Closed to prevent even more off-topic spam is added.
