Placebo 29 Posted November 8, 2012 We're building an aquaponics system in our apartment, bought a 375liter aquarium which will hold fish and the water will be pumped into two 50l containers containing clay pellets for growing the plants in, we need a frame to hold the two grow pots in, found a couple of companies online but one's too expensive and the other doesn't ship outside Canada (I'm in Sweden obviously). For the frame we need something like this: Obviously split into pieces with the appropriate connections for delivery to Sweden, if anyone knows any people/companies that can do this kind of thing please let me know :) Doesn't matter what country it's in as long as they ship to Sweden :)
mr burns 132 Posted November 8, 2012 Do you need aluminum pieces of the same shape as seen in your pic, or only the welding done? edit: oh i see they seem to be standard profiles. I´d say ask around any metal/car/windowing shops in your town if they can order and weld the stuff up. Always thought swedish people would be very crafty :D
Beagle 684 Posted November 8, 2012 Don't you have metalwork workshops in Sweden? Not long ago that was my daily job to build such stuff. Every local metalwork craftsman should be able to build that, aluminum profiles are available in all profiles basically everywhere...thats really no arcane art. hellfire257 3 Posted November 8, 2012 I would suggest asking in a flight sim forum. I bet a lot of the cockpit builders use this sort of stuff.

Hmm I guess, just with being a foreigner there's some stuff I'm still not familiar with here but I'll ask a Swedish friend in the town, for some reason I assumed it would be more specialist :)
PuFu 4600 Posted November 8, 2012 i'm sorry i can't help you with the provider, but: 1. i would stay away from the welding and go for mechanical connections (screws and alike), especially given the weight the frame needs to hold. It is easier to put up and take down, plus you just need to tighten the screws from time to time, while the welding, well, can degrade over time. 2. make sure you take into consideration some diagonal bracing. I do have some experience with custom made frames for different sized and shaped aluminium frames for furniture and other design objects for interior design (me being an architect and all). I actually have a 6m long and 1.7 m wide aluminium frame custom designed table at the office, with an aluminium frame. One thing to consider is the legs of the thing, and as previously said, the bracing to make sure the thing is structurally stable (that drawing you have there, isn't). Let me know if you need a quick product project if you can find someone to make it for you.

Tonci87 163 Posted November 9, 2012 Isn´t this too OT for OT? :p That thing isn´t anything special, every metal worker can weld that together, so you should be able to find someone in sweden. But maybe you´ll want to take a look at Germany. Shiping to Sweden isn´t that expensive I think, and the country is full of metal fabricating companys.
