Online cheats

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I cannot see any other posts on this so i there probably is, but yesterday i got proof that there are now online cheats available for OFP. People on GameSpy who had they showed me them and it greatly worried me.

From what i can tell, these cheats are not aimbots, but in a way worse. They allowed instant fireing without need of reload and infinite ammo. The 2 people who showed me them showed me with a G36, LAW, and Mortar. Put it this way, they flattened a town in under 10 seconds. There is no reload time, which means that you can litterally shoot 50 laws in about 8 seconds. If this is not patched, then OFP MP will die for sure. With many clans now in posession of such things, are there any patches being made?

Will resistance patch it?

They also said it was a trainer program and not a modification directly to the config.

Thank you,

Not everybody in this game cheats and there are many people who like a good game. Once most people figure out whos cheating those cheaters will prolly be kicked from most games that they try and join. So the cheaters might be digging there own graves.

Paynemaker, there was a cheat that was possible with an earlier version of OFP, but it was eliminated quickly by a patch.

If the one you were shown is still working with a current version of OFP, please contact support@bistudio.com and inform them on how to reproduce it, they will work with the developers to shut it down.

I assure you that it is still active in 1.46-1.60

I do not know how to do it because i do not have the cheat. I only saw it in use. I will try ask the person who used it for info.

1 cheat won't kill OFP. I welcome cheaters. I used to hack on other games. I just like to have their challenge. As long as there is no OFP Guard, or any semi-legal shit you have to agree to to play on the server (Refrence CS, TFC, Other HL Mods) I'm happy.

I neglected to mention I used cheats as defense. Against cheaters. I know no one agrees with me anymore than they already did, but hey...

That's one of the most pathetic excuses I've heard.

That is the kind of cheating that FADE is supposed to help prevent.

Not really, fade is just a crc check for the executable itself.

The other thing to remember, is that cheaters tend towards a low attention span. They get bored quickly and move on to something else, or don't play when the game is not to their taste. Build online games requireing more strategic play and objectives that cannot be achieved with rapid fire and no reload time..

They usually disco when faced with anything more than a DM or CTF.

Alternatively, we could all wait for them to grow up biggrin.gif

I was under the impression that FADE would also protect against the modification of in-memory code or data.

I do believe it's just a check of the .exe.

Just a thinking, but why do those cheaters play anyway?

Wouldn't it save a lot of time for them, to skip the

game, and just register a win without any losses?

For me it's the same, like a challenge between a

Ferrari and a Trabant - who will win this hard race confused.gif

One of the solutions is to constantly change the EXE file. Since OFP has so many upgrades since coming out, the life of these cheats was limited. They would have to be rewritten to handle new EXEs.

Scambling the EXE's build or modifying code eyecatchers that the cheat's developer is looking for also delays newer versions of the cheat from working.

So when BIS puts out new patches, whether it's to correct bugs or just to add enhancements, each such patch is another stumble for the cheat coders.

Placebo, who says that was an excuse? It's what I did, if you don't like it, tough. I don't give a damn what you think about just cause I cheated on a few games.

Cheating in MP is arrogant, childish and selfish, it shows you have no thought and respect for your fellow gamer, if you go onto a server and someone is cheating, leave and go play on another server, you're going to find that people and servers will refuse to have anything to do with you unless you change your ways and become honest in your gaming.

You don't necessarily have to rewrite a cheat every time a new patch comes out, it all depends on what the cheat does, and how it does it.

If you wanted to hook the DirectPlay or Winsock APIs and modifiy the data packets that are being sent and received, you could get the entry point for the API in the DLL and substitute your own code without ever touching the OFP image.

I have never written a cheat, but I have written code that hooks existing Windows APIs -- it isn't very difficult.

I don't cheat in OFP. I haven't cheated in anygame since I was 10. I like playing with cheaters (most of the time) because it always provides a challenge. Change my ways? You're acting like I'm a criminal.

I play with Mal. He cheats!! He turns the sound all the way up and can hear me from kilometers away. If I start breathing heavily, BLAM sniper shot and I'm gone.

When playing with hom you have to crouch tap and move so as to not make any sound.

cranking the volume not cheating

but your'e right you need stealth when you play me, most players on our server are very well aware of that.

and just because I use a surround sound set up that lets me locate sounds with in a few feet of the direction it comes in does not mean Im cheating, many players online use Onboard Sound and many use SB lives - Audigys. just because I can hear you move or reload is not cheating, I'm PRETTY SURE its apart fo the game since we CAN hear it

the better higher end cards all allow this, so if some guy cant hear as far as I do just because he has a crap snd card does not mean Im cheating

Same goes for Video, can you kill a guy with a AK47 a few miles a way while at 800 or 1024 res mode every time with a single shot?

nope, but in 1600x1200x32 res mode you sure can, now I guess thats cheating too cause I have a 19" screen and a radeon 8500 running off a A7V333 1.8 ghz with 512 megs of PC2700 (333) all over clocked to 390 mhz FSB, that does not frame lag what so ever. I see more pixels at that res mode and high dpi mouse allows for better aim at that range

Ever look at the forrest with a sniper scope? lags like hell, but not on that machine, man I must be cheating - sigh

Dont confuse high end gaming equiptment with cheating

All of those are valid points, but I draw the line at exploiting the EAX sound bug -- that IS cheating.
