After expending all of his ammo, 40mm grenades, and pistol rounds, he emplaced Claymore mines so close to himself that the explosions ruptured the blood vessels in his eyes. He eventually fought hand to hand and used a 240 tripod and a sandbag to bludgeon the enemy to death as they entered his fighting position.
