uzipaz 10 Posted March 5, 2012 I have played ArmA 2 for a some long time now, I only play single player and spend most of the time in armory, scenarios and the editor. The infantry combat is the best thing about ArmA 2. I always enjoy using assault and semi-automatic sniper rifles, I am greatly impressed by the ballistics system that the developers have implemented. However, I have felt that whenever I fire shots they always seem to just be influenced by the gravity, muzzle velocity etc... but I have yet to see the wind affecting the bullet trajectory, I never experienced that in ArmA 2. Maybe its just me, but I need some confirmation here. I also can't find anyway to control the wind conditions in any scenario, except raining and bad weather. What do you folks have to say on this? Is the wind factor modelled in the ArmA 2 ballistics system?
icebreakr 3159 Posted March 5, 2012 Wind is simulated in SP only, but I doubt it has any effect on the trajectory of a bullet. Smoke yes, bullets dunno.
Tonci87 163 Posted March 6, 2012 Wind is not really simulated in standard Arma2, if you want to have wind use the ACE2 Mod. Sniper gameplay is a whole different thing with it!
sorophx 25 Posted March 8, 2012 yeah, and the wind changes every 10 seconds, so good luck with that
rye1 22 Posted March 8, 2012 So if you need any tips for windage, ask in a topic such as http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?126404-Community-created-ArmA-Training-Videos-Literature-Scenarios-amp-Other-Resources. ;) There's a few tricks...
Militant1006 11 Posted March 8, 2012 There is still no truly realistic windage system in arma 2 yet, the ACE one only applies wind upon the firing of the shot, doesn't change halfway and consistently changes direction. That said it is a lot better than vanilla.
