I think I scared myself. <span id='postcolor'> The same got me worried as first rumours made the round that BIS would be handing out Oxygen, however look at it now, hardly anything oxygen made is getting released, the flood of addons just doesn´t happen. Currently every addon, made with or without Oxygen, is getting soaked up like there´s no tomorrow, even if the quality leaves alot to be desired. Once there are plenty of addons available the user has the freedom of choosing between them, the good ones will make it, while the not so good ones need to get better, or being ignored. There will be some "must have" essential addons, and some "casual" addons.

Anyways I hope some people make some kick ass islands, but unless they're extremely good I'll pass on them. N.o.R.S.u 0 Posted June 9, 2002 Hmm I've also tried that before because of same reasons. But haven't succeeded.
Scorpio 0 Posted June 9, 2002 I've reinstalled OFP about 9 times this month, so there is no doubt about it.
Skulleye 0 Posted June 9, 2002 Instead of using the auto-start with the cd, check the content of the cd and see if there's a setup file that is used to install it. That should work.

I knew it would take about 2 days before people started using all the trees, bushes and TIME that was spent making the Jungle map. Not even a one request to use the work that was done. Now someone will just take all the trees, bushes etc, and make a new map using all the hard work that was done, release it with no regard on what it took to retexture all those p3d's and all the testing that was done. It's just the beginning, and there's nothing I can do to stop it. Oh well, I knew it would happen so... Ebud
Guest Titanium Posted June 10, 2002 OFP Islands are bascially going to be the equivilence of HL Mods maps. Now that editing software is public, there are going to be a lot of bad ones, but there will definately be good ones. And its better to have the private sector making them than the official people. Cause we have more time to do good things

Ebud<span id='postcolor'> don't worry man, its not like i wouldn't mention where i got the textures in the readme, its not copywrited material either, so it doesn't matter how you feel about the textures being used. the fact is they're really good trees, and i don't plan on making my own. ebud 18 Posted June 10, 2002 it doesn't matter how you feel about the textures being used. Well now that's a fine statement. No they aren't copyright, but that arguement doesn't hold up. Simonpro made a jungle malden using those same textures and p3ds, but corresponded with me about it quite a few times, and I even gave him more huts to use that I had made. That's the difference. He asked. Go ahead, use them, everone else will.

Intruder 0 Posted June 10, 2002 If the addon is like 10, 15 MB, it puts people off especially if their on a dial up. But I will download big addons if they go down well in the community, like kegs winter kolgujev, and some of those packs. I haven't downloaded the desert storm basic code (109 MB!!!, mostly becasue of it's size and installiation procedure, but I have downloaded demos that have been larger in file size.
